The counterweight idea is something I did with my old Oculus Rift CV1 - worked a treat and kept the headset from slipping - similar to this:
I have this slipping issue with the PSVR2 until I turn the dial all the way but that is uncomfortable. May give the counterweight idea a go (I used car wheel alignment weights in my CV1 - thinner than batteries and more granular weights than batteries).
As someone who has used VR since 2016 the snap vs smooth turning discussion is interesting. I hate smooth turning - really makes me feel queasy so I use both snap turning and natural turning. It can make the cable kink but using both methods minimises that.
