Playtonic unveils Yooka-Laylee (Banjo Kazooie successor) [Kickstarter LIVE - Funded]

It's weird that I'm tempted to back this considering how much I hate Banjo-Kazooie. I guess I'm just excited to see a lot of the old Rare team back together and working on a Nintendo console.

Wil this reach the PS4 target?

I've never been too hot on the genre, but maybe now i can appreciate it a bit more.

Only thing i hate is collecting coins though...

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up. I'll check the OP. (If there's some there) I'm just so amazed at the quickness of it being funded that I skimmed right over the OP and had to post my thoughts.

This will reach every stretch goal with ease.

You're gonna be collecting a lot of stuff in this game.

I just don't understand how these games died. They were great back in the day, if I actually stand back and look at the current situation in gaming it actually saddens me. DLC corruption, mostly horrible Free-to-Plays that prey on the weak minded, FPS after FPS, dark edgy game after dark edgy game.

It's time to do some backing. These characters are just too adorable. If I were to give any criticism though, I think the "eye-balls on
everything" thing is a bit pandering.

I think a lot of the big players who were making these games had stopped for different reasons in the PS2/XBOX/GameCube era. Rare was bought out and kept having to move development of their games across platforms. Crash and Spyro became stuck at Activision. We did get Jak, Sly, and Ratchet but Jak evolved less into a platformer as time went on. Sonic's quality took nose dive and despite Sunshine being a fun game, it disappointed some Mario fans.

I mean I grew up with Banjo Kazooie and the Super Mario games

but....after a while it becomes tedious, the collectathon shit became super boring.

Am I reading this right, the Kickstarter went up 3 hours and 45 minutes ago and they are already almost 200% funded?!

Well fuck me sideways, let's get this shit up to a million!

I dont know if theres some gaming illuminati that decides this or what, but it was pretty weird how the majority of platformers last gen not named mario were also pseudo beatemups.

Yeah, man, I can't believe how bad Pillars of Eternity was

Wait, no, it was fantastic.

Or Shovel Knight. That game sucked too.

People need to remember there has been some incredible Kickstarters. Of course there are bad ones as well, but just because something is on Kickstarter doesn't mean it will fail or be a poor game.

It's coming out on PS4 regardless now.

Though if you don't like collection games you probably won't like this too much

First update just happened. They mention the possibilities of a fully orchestrated soundtrack and physical copies for every platform. Guess those might be future stretch goal ideas.

Holy crappp Orchestrated music + David Wise = Musical orgasm confirmed!

I want to see another Mighty No. 9 funding situation happen! I can't imagine they won't add stretch goals after the million, and I'm super hyped to see what they decide to do with them.

This game looks cool but they should remove the bloom and sunrays effect. I kinda want the game to just have a sharper look so that edges and shapes are more well defined, not blurred by graphical effects. The camera seemed shaky too when they were jumping but maybe that will get fixed. I hope this game delivers though.

I've funded 3 Kickstarters so far. I'm choosey about them and make sure to pick ones I am sure will get finished. Mother 2 Handbook, Drift Stage and STRAFE. I think it's safe to assume this one will be finished too. Definitely going to pick a tier and throw some money at them for some goodies.

If we can't get Banjo-Kazooie on the Wii U VC, I think a clone could be just as good.

Nintendo and Microsoft having Donkey Kong and Banjo (+ Kazooie) as platform exclusive characters respectively would be a smart move for everyone.

This, Underworld Ascendant, Under the Dog, Kingdom Come, Hyper Light Drifter, Might No. 9, Project Phoenix and Massive Chalice.

And technically Star Citizen, but I did it through their site during their original run on Kickstarter.
