I mean I grew up with Banjo Kazooie and the Super Mario games

but....after a while it becomes tedious, the collectathon shit became super boring.

Eh, yeah but if you're more into the exploration and the mechanics it can distract you from the tediousness of actually beating the game. Have the time when I was younger it was just found screwing around with exploring the worlds and just killing enemies, the collector items were just the tickets you needed to move to the next playground.

Microsoft basically neutered Rare. But I think that's putting it kindly. These kinds of games are all over the place on Nintendo consoles, just not as much on others. But happy they broke away and using their legit talents to make this game independently.

They're not even on Nintendo though. Sure they have 2D platformers, but 3D adventure platformers like this or things like Banjo, Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy they do not have.

Mario 3D World is just too simple. It's 2D gameplay (and the levels are even timed like the 2D Mario games) on a small 3D plane. Still hanging for the big 3D Mario game on Wii U.

Looking forward to seeing what the new Ratchet & Clank game on PS4 is though, and hopefully the rumours that Rare is getting ready to unleash Banjo and Kazooie for another adventure is true.

I hope that they don't go nuts with the hype and hastily introduce new stretch goals. They should spend a few days and really think on it.

Hey guys - if I sign up for kickstarter to throw money at this, will I still be able to pay with an American debit card? Will it automatically convert it from dollars to euros for me?

Also, for the "Special Thanks in the credits" tier - do you actually get your name in the credits, or is it just a general "Thanks to our backers!" message?

Yes and Yes

Yes you can use an American debit card. Kickstarter will take care of the conversion / charge

Do publishers actually take note of this stuff or do they just go "Lol, who cares? We got our yearly game franchise/genre to fall back on".

Yes and yes. I did it.

I don't know about the special thanks thingie.

I threw in 80 GBP into it personally.
I am guessing since they said you get the lower tier as well that means you get a physical PC copy + a digital copy of your choosing.

All those years telling people that this kind of game was wanted and being told that I was wrong ...... fuck'em all!

"BUTBUTBUT.... RARE HAS ALWAYS HAD FREEDOM UNDER MICROSOFT"

500K (or whatever this ends at) is a pittance compared to the scale they're used to working at. It'd be like asking why Warner Bros doesn't take note of indie films.

I actually do want to back this, but only if I have the money to spare, hopefully I'm in a better position before june. Would love to see my name in the special thanks, and to play the demo.
