Publisher Natsume and developer Natsume Atari have officially released the teaser trailer for Pocky & Rocky Reshrined that first debuted at New Game+ Expo 2021 last week.

Here is an overview of the game, via Natsume:

Pocky & Rocky follows the adventures of a young Shinto shrine maiden named Pocky and her companion, Rocky the raccoon, as they attempt to save a group of creatures known as the Nopino Goblins. Gameplay takes place from a top-down perspective and features both single-player and cooperative modes.

Pocky & Rocky Reshrined is a sequel to Pocky & Rocky, known in Japan as the action-shooting game series Kiki Kaikai, which first appeared as an arcade game from Taito Corporation in 1986 and is being developed under license from Taito Corporation.

Pocky & Rocky Reshrined is due out for PlayStation 4 and Switch this fall.

So this is supposedly a new title? The wording in the description is a tad vague. There's two Pocky And Rocky games for the SNES, is this just a quick and dirty cash grab rerelease of one of those games? Or %100 new?
 
So many games are Switch+PlayStation now.

Is this another GamePass side effect? If they aren't going to be on GP, is it not worth putting it on Xbox at all because of low sales?

Looks like a remake possibly with added features similar to how Wild Guns Reloaded was.

It's a niche Japanese game effect. Xbox has no presence in that market.

Trying to browse the deals section is a nightmare considering the store only loads a page at a time and there are regularly like 500+ games on sale.

Man, that is some hard nostalgia. I might be pick it up, but maybe it's best left in my memories?

There's extensive work done to the art like they did with Wild Guns and Ninja Warriors Again, even more so with this one. Compare and contrast the starting area.
There's plenty more detail and new buildings like the auxiliary shrine on the right, the lion dogs are unique and not mirrored anymore. As the player moves up you see more features like the ema boards and the washing fountain. All areas have new detail , new mobs and sprites for basically everything seem to be redrawn from scratch.

the last year of a console generation are really filled with crapware...

Looks fantastic！Great times playing this in past but my sister always insist on being Sayo when we played haha。Called pocky and rocky in west ah？I think i understand rocky since manuki can become jizo to prevent getting hurt。Have not played in long time but remember game can be very difficult in some higher stages without practice。
 
Imagine if this releases on the WiiU Eshop, lol. That'd be amazing. If there's online co-op I'd probably buy this game for the PS4. Could be fun local too with the Wife.
 
Is it weird for me to feel more nostalgia for this than more mainstream titles like Megaman or Chrono Trigger?
I was too young back and just played whatever random stuff at my cousin's place. Urge to get rising.
 
It was pushed back to Spring 2022. I have the game for PC Engine. One of my favorite SNES game too along Goemon.
 
Saw the trailer on Twitter. So new characters eh? After the shortstack character in Ninja Warriors Once Again, I'm not really surprised they put in a big tiddy goddess in this one.
I think they showcased a bunch of new levels in the second half of the video too?
 
Game was brilliant back in the day, and Reshrined looks to carry on the legacy in an excellent way. I got my physical copy of Ninja Warriors Returns and Wild Guns for Switch. Now I hope that this will have a physical release over here in the US.

Daaaamn this is a blast from the past! Loved this game back in the day.

Would be perfect on Steam with online co-op support (or even Remote Play).

Tried Wild Guns Reloaded recently with Steam's Remote Play and it worked great, way above expectations.
Pretty certain Kikikaikai won't come on PC, Ninja Warriors Once Again (2019) is still only on PS4 & Switch.

Then I'll get it on Switch and will hopefully convince my gf to play it with me lol.
