Well, after doing several trials over (looks at time) 4 hours (ugh) , I've collected a bit of data.

Assumptions used: The catch rate formula is the same in BW.
Throws are independent from each other.

Hypothesis: Ditto's catch rate is not changed when transforming. That is, over many captures, the catch rate should approach a percetage corresponding with Ditto's original rate. The main implication of this is that Transform does not copy catch rate in BW.

Conditions: Ditto Transformed into Magikarp
HP: 1/???
Status: paralyzed (1.5x)
Ball used: Poké Ball (1x)

Predicted catch chance with above conditions:
Magikarp -> Catch rate 255 -> 100%+ (greater than 100%, definite capture)
Ditto -> Catch rate 35 -> ~20.52%


Total Throws: 102 (One throw was discarded because of Critical Capture.)
Successful captures: 33 (32.36%)
Unsuccessful captures:
0 shakes: 34 (33.33%)
1 shake: 20 (19.61%)
2 shakes: 1 (0.98%)
3 shakes: 14 (13.73%)

From this, I can most definitely conclude that Ditto did not copy Magikarp's catch rate, at the very least. The rate is most definitely lower than 100%, though the exact amount isn't apparent (I think it will aproach Ditto's catch rate of 35, if more throws are attempted).

I'm happy with your conclusion, as I have Volcarona running in front of my party, and it would make Ditto horrible to capture if they decided to mimic its capture rate >_<

I did this, because it's for a noble effort...not just for me, for everyone who decided to catch all their Ditto in Gen 5 :D

I probably wouldn't have even noticed, had my other DS not broken and I had not been able to transfer any of my Ditto from SoulSilver <_<

It made things smoother for me, so maybe it really does something.

Speaking of C-Gear, how much battery would it consume if I left it on for the 4 or so hours I'm taking classes?
Is it the same as if I were playing the game, or is it slightly less?

I've had it on the full day before.

It seems like it draws only a little bit more power than regular sleep, as I still had 2 bars of battery left after abt. 10 hours

Where's the best place to go at the start of the postgame? So far I've struggled through the champion's cave and scraped past the trainers around black city, my main party at the moment is:
Samurott lv 68
Krookodile lv 50
Simisear lv 50
Leavanny lv 49
Swanna lv 50
Gyarados lv 41 (trying to exp share this up good and proper)

Somewhere to explore without being on the edge of death so often would be nice!

Thoughts on switching up my party are also welcome :)
New acquisitions from my post-game travels include Mawile (49), Lickitung (49), Fearow (48), Kangaskhan (49), Marowak (57), a new, higher level Sawk (58), Graveler (49), Sableye (49), and of course I have
Reshiram
(51) which I should probably utilise...

How about the Dream Yard and Relic Castle?

Also, always use Mawile. Always.

Lucky Egg + high level Audino up some of your people. I'd probably switch out Simisear, Leavanny and Swanna, too.
