The left side of the touch screen on my DS lite has basically kicked the bucket so I only play my lite with games that don't need the touch screen. Can't even play the Pokeathalon on HG anymore.

You should never get rid of a DS. The 3DS d-pad isn't very good for a lot of DS games.
