Guzma is great... but as a lackey of Lusamine.

If we treat him as his own... he is kinda crappy.

I won't forget Lysandre but then again I watched XY.

So, I was playing Heart Gold a bit (never actually finished it) and got knocked out by Sudowoodo the first time. When I went back again, it was shiny :D

I just found it funny since I've been spending a long time trying to hatch a shiny Litten and then I just happen to find a shiny Sudowoodo.

Guzma
Lusamine
Giovanni (although this is mostly because he's had the most time to be developed compared to everyone else)
Archie
Ghetsis
Maxie
Johto Rockets (Individually they'd be way too low, together they're fine. Hell, Archer gets maybe 6 sentences maximum.)
Cyrus
Cyrus 2: Lysandre

Also found this when browsing: Hour long interview with Game Freak's sound team. Features Go Ichinose (Route 26, Frontier Brain), Junichi Masuda (All of Gen 1, most battle themes), and Minako Adachi (Anistar City, Team Skull Grunt) talking about the process of making the music, sadly I don't think there's English subs (yet). Feel like Game Freak interviews are kinda rare so I figured I'd link it.

I would argue that's merely because he was so recent.

Give it 5-10 years and he will be completely gone from our collective memory.
Lysandre was at least half decent in the anime, not least because they basically chucked his role in the games out of the window. Archer and co. had NOTHING.

This is the first time my gf has not only played the game alongside me but finished the game and actually passed me... Shes at 72% pokedex completion lmao. Only alola dex might have made this possible tbh...XY she gave up, said she didnt get the point of the game and basically just liked catching pokemon and spending time with them in amie. She pretty much just likes small puzzle games and animal crossing. I got her to play TP HD and she almost beat it but forgets where to go after not playing for a while. I think that happened to her a lot in XY too. So yeah rotom dex helped with that i think.

Didn't ORAS expanded them?

with that said I find it hilarious they swapped the stupidity of the villain team in RS in ORAS

EDIT: Oh wait ArchER, not ArchIE. My bad. Actually you just proved your point lol

How was Giovanni developed at all

FRLG/Fame Checker, HGSS, BW2 (not much). Origins/Generations? I mostly put him that high because of how well known he is to most people even faintly familiar to the franchise, otherwise it took him over a decade to even reach Ghetsis' level in terms of motivation. If we were only doing initial appearances he'd be under Maxie.

The fact that I'm not sure whether or not that's canon tells you all you need to know about that. Is there even any evidence beyond her hair?

TBH now that you say that I'm not really sure. I just remember it's a popular fan theory since her redesign reddened her hair and made her hair spikier.

Thinking about it, Giovanni is an idiot. He revealed his identity in the Silph Co. raid and then went back to the Viridian Gym like the police wouldn't surround the place in minutes.

Hell, why even occupy Saffron City in the first place? Giovanni must have known his muscle was trash by that point. Not to mention there's four people at least that he knows would beat him in battle. He should have stuck to his Pachinko racket.

I'm led to believe the pokemon devs have parent issues.

I dunno about bad parents, but the reason an overwhelming amount of japanese characters don't seem to have fathers is the long work hours meant a huge amount of the current generation of writers grew up barely seeing their own dads.

Though I'm more interested in what issues SM's writers (or maybe the localisation team?) were having with mortality. There is so much talking about death in Sun and Moon.

Wow. Misty actually beat Ash in a battle for once. Good for her.

That whole Lugia arc was great. All the characters involved were fun. I'm really glad Richie, and especially Luca were there for that. Lugia is the best legendary
OF ALL TIME

Bulbasaur leaving was just a little sad. I liked Bulbasaur a lot earlier on, but I kinda got over him lol. And it's kinda dumb that he had two grass types on his team. Speaking of that, how does Bayleaf even go on with her life after Ash leaves it for good? Now that will be a sad moment. At least Bulbasaur was content with the decision.

Oh we're ranking villain leaders okay here's my list.

-Cyrus
-Ghetsis
-Lusamine
-Guzma
-Giovanni
-Maxie=Archie (ORAS version)
-Neo Team Rockets

Not going to even bother putting Lysandre on the list because I feel that he isn't good enough to be on it as he did nothing to impress me nor did I feel that he was well fleshed out.

It's probably because they are getting older and realising that the Pokémon series is going to end up outliving them so there will come a time where they won't see the direction the series ends up going.

Giovanni is only interesting cause he's a mob boss in a group of extremist terrorists with their heads in the clouds. His grounded goals are refreshing against destroying the world or becoming its absolute ruler, etc.

I mean on paper Lusamine's goals are pretty simple: she wants to
capture and 'love' an Ultra Beast
, it's only when you get into the details of how you pull that off that things get complicated.

I just assume
Lusamine just wants to cherish a thing she fetishizes as otherwordly because she despises the world she lives in because her husband abandoned her and all her children

dat and drugs.

mob boss is too flattering for him when you try to reaccount his stuff

Drake's Dragonite learned more than 4 during the Orange League filler arc.

Earlier on it was more lax, but now they're more strict about game mechanics.
Except Trick Room.

Ash's Pikachu where I'm at now seems to use 5 attacks. Thundershock, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Quick Attack, Agility. Though, 3 of them are completely redundant as they're used up to Johto.

What's this about Trick Room?

Wow I forgot about that Dragonite. Here's what it says on the Wiki.

Dragonite used ten different moves during one episode. This was done by the writer of the episode, Atsuhiro Tomioka, to make Dragonite seem more unstoppable.

I don't really have a problem with Team Rocket being in every episode, but it's getting annoying how an episode sets up all of this context, new characters with motivations, plot, conflict, just for it to be resolved by Team Rocket doing what they do in every episode and that somehow fixing the issue in the end.

I think after Hoenn is when he sticks with 4 moves.
Trick Room can be broken by attacks on the show.

Yeah, Hoenn/Advanced Generation is when the show started getting strict about the 4 move limit. Pretty sure there are examples of a Pokémon with 4 moves evolving and using 4 different moves right after though.

You know I'm gonna say it here.

Follower Pokemon in SM wouldn't really work unless they re-do the whole routes and make them more open.

I mean they could do what they did with bigger Pokemon and just have them not appear in tighter spaces but...

Really, Follower Pokemon (for all Pokemon) wouldn't work period. Like you make a selection of Pokemon that don't look too janky next to your player character but like Alolan Exeggutor? Wailord? Celesteela? Joltik? Flabebe? Cutiefly? All either too big or too small to reasonably show next to your character. You could probably limit to starters/evos, Pikachu, and some fan favorites, but every Pokemon is too big a stretch.

I think it could easily work in HD. Obviously many pokemon wont be properly scaled though

Still holding out hope that this feature comes back along with a more natural following algorithm like in santalune forest

Isn't the egg pretty much confirmed to be
Alolan Vulpix
?

Are you sure it's not Vulpix inside? That would be much simpler than THAT coming out of an egg this early in the anime XD

Ah, comparing designs, you're probably right. Although in my defense, the puffs on the eggs do look more like flowers than actual puffs.

1) How does HD fix any problem I just mentioned?

2) I'm literally talking about the problems that come from scaling. The lack of proper scaling is bad enough in battles as it is. It's better to just leave them out.

OK well I thought you said it wouldn't work period, which it easily could. How does higher resolution and more screen space fix the graphical representation (specifically your claims of Pokemon being too big or small to be seen properly) of Pokemon in the overworld? Well it's pretty self explanatory...

More screen makes EVERYTHING bigger. It explains nothing, especially not itself.

Isn't there a point in the anime where Ash stops telling Pikachu to use Thunder because of recoil damage? I always found it weird how it just came up out of nowhere because of how much he used it before without any issue.
