Hi there Pokemon fans, I have a question about the online multiplayer of Sun and Moon.
I haven't bought Sun yet because I just got back into the series with Pokemon Y and I need to finish that (and maybe the Ruby remake), but I want to know if I play online battles will I get destroyed if I don't do breeding, IV, EV, nature training?
I honestly don't know much about any of those things and don't want to grind for hours if I have to. I watch a lot of shofu and shadypenguin and those guys are always talking about maxing out their Pokemon's attack, defense, etc....
In your experience is it necessary to do all of the additional training or can you just go in with a good team and have competitive matches with other players? Thanks!

That stuff is 100% necessary. Fortunately, min-maxing Pokémon is easier than its ever been.
Further still, later this month, the game will be getting an update to allow people to share battling teams via QR code.

I have so many comments to make but right now I'm going to focus on Gary.
Gary started to become notably nicer and more respectful to Ash ever since an episode from Johto Journey's where he sees Ash working with his team to take care of Team Rocket's scheme.
At the Silver Conference, he's generally being friendly competitive and at one point they end up having this conversation where Gary is trying to be all sentimental/deep about dreams and how they could have gone down completely different paths if little things had happened differently.
I'll be honest, I was lowkey upset that my boy Oak got soft. Their impending battle would be much less interesting since he started playing the nice guy card.
Later on in a different day, Squirtle and Bulbasaur get into a fight with that one dude's Meganium and Azumaril. They could have lost points for that because Pokemon fighting outside of battles was prohibited. Gary comes out of nowhere and convinces Officer Jenny that they were just sparing and getting psyched up. Ash thanks him, and then Gary starts being a jerk again.
Called him an amateur trainer.
Said he couldn't control his Pokemon.
Told him he'd tell him "cya later" but doesn't know if he'd make it to the preliminaries.
Goddamn SLAYIN HIM. Good. Now this battle will be more intense. I kinda think he's playing it up just to fire up Ash or something, because it is weird that he started to be an ass again, but whatever.
I love this image and their rivalry. Gary's impenetrable smugness vs Ash's intense FEROCITY. I can already smell the FIRE. They're both so extreme. I love it. I'm getting amped up just typing this.
The hype IS REAL

Gary kept half of this Pokeball from when they tied in the past and showed it to Ash. Gary asks if he remembers it and Ash says "that's from when we tied." Gary says "Wrong, I consider that one a loss." Ash says "Why would you say that?" and as he speaks, Gary just talks over him (as you can see in the gif) saying "as far as i'm concerned, tying with you is a loss, Ash"
bruh can this rivalry get any more intense. That body language. You can see Gary's pupils shaking. And the way he just interrupts and turns his head LOL like how condescending can you be??? He's reallly mad that he tied with Ash in the past and he kept that ball this whole time as a bitter reminder.
I don't even remember them tying in a match but it looks like the episode is making up flashback scenes so ok

They came back to cheer him on during his fight against Ash! Which was also weird because I thought he wasn't about that life anymore
So Greninja is Serebii.net Pokémon of the Week and they had this to say about it's negative,
"-It cant beat Mega Charizard X in the anime"
but it doesn't stop there as they say this as a counter;
"Wanna beat Ash-Greninja? Just use Mega Charizard X."
Stay losing Super Greninja, you were not worth watching in the Kalos animé.

Yeah the only good part of johto was the silver conference though they had to retcon a bit of gary's character to make him work

Master Quest in general had a lot of good. I think it's the best season since Indigo League.
So I've been using the Club Nintendo 3DS card cases and I am now at the point where I want to have a separate one for my DS/3DS Pokemon games.
Looking for suggestions for cover art. Really open to anything as I can't decide on what I'm going for at this point fan art / pixel art / official image mashup.
I have found a couple of custom covers online but they are usually very Pikachu focused.

Does the XY anime continue off of developments from Black and White in the same way Advanced continues from Johto which continues from Kanto?
Not really, it's a continuation but it makes a clean cut from the past and rarely mention Ash's past adventure.
They didn't even cut to Ash's friends and family watching him fight the Kalos league or have him use his reserve in the league.
It's one of the reason why I couldn't get into the X and Y animé, it just felt so disconnected

Ehh I'd argue only the league part is great. The Moltres Fire episode was hype in introducing Blaziken
XY continues Ash from DP than BW, but it does make it a point that he met Alexa and traveled with her from BW's Da! season.

It was still bloated with fillers, but I found the filler quality to be more consistently good than the past 2 seasons. It also had a bunch of fun, more substantial mini arcs to a further extent than I remember the other seasons ever having having. Lugia arc, Red Gyarados arc, Whirl Island Cup, Larvitar arc, Dragonite/Blackthorne city arc. That helped it feel less like a drag of nothing of any real note happening.
It also has some of my favorite "one off" filler episode. That one episode with the Pidgey who wants to fly to the sun. Just beautiful. It inspired me for like 2 seconds after I was done watching the episode. It was great.
The episode with the Ninetails and its illusion was one of the best episodes in the show up to that point. Come on bros.
It's haunting. The backstory is really tragic and sad. It reminded me of some of the weird shit in Indigo League. The part where Misty notices that there's no reflection of the girl in the mirror is great. Things started to get real real after that.
They definitely tried harder with this season when compared to the other Johto seasons.

No idea, it could be tomorrow, it could be the end of January or worse case it could end up being in February.
I doubt it, as the egg doesn't match Cosmog's colouring plus they found it at Mount Lanakila suggesting that it will be Alolan Vulpix.

My guess are;
-A new Mystery Dungeon game,
-Detective Pikachu, could explain why part 1 hasn't been localized and why Japan only got part 1 so far,
-An updated version of Pokkén,
-Gen 2-5 on the virtual console, though I wonder how they will handle the DS games,
-Pokémon Colosseum and XD up on the GameCube virtual console, should the Switch have GameCube games,
-A new type of spin off game as every generation seem to get one and I expect gen 7 to be no different.
-A Sinnoh remake.
