Well, yeah, I used the "" because it's technically big news (if datamining weren't a thing, it would have been a big news full stop, but still). Just not what some people was expecting (Pokemon Z).
Well CoroCoro was unlikely to reveal a main game anyway

It is interesting that they chose to reveal Volcanion now, in any case. I don't actually think they've got a Gen VII Pokémon to co-star, but the event legendaries always tend to be revealed in February unless there's something more secretive to come- Genesect was revealed early, but only because Mega Mewtwo Y was a bigger secret to keep.
I don't actually think that there's likely to be ANOTHER Zygarde forme up their sleeves, but maybe we'll get Mega Xerneas and Yveltal or something?

Last time a Mythical was revealed in December was with Deoxys. Nothing special came there though, aside from Munchlax's cameo.
I daren't prognosticate as to what they're doing though. I've given up trying to predict them.
But you're right, it could be a Mythical or a form. 20th anniversary, for all we know it'd be Mega Mew.

I dunno, I think the reveal of the start of a whole new generation of Pokémon counted as a bigger reveal. Certainly, if some common Gen VII Pokémon was revealed for the next movie, people would be far interested in that than in Volcanion, even if it didn't have all that big a role.
This generation is feeling markedly similar to Gen III in terms of how the publicity's playing out. I wouldn't be overly surprised if they did resurrect the old strategy of introducing cameos of the next generation a few movies in advance, despite their getting burned by Diamond and Pearl's delay back in the day.

Most people assumed Volcanion would be in this movie but it's finally confirmed. I wasn't expecting it to be revealed this earlier though seeing as how there hasn't been a proper trailer for the movie yet. Gen VII is likely happening in 2017 unless the game is delayed like Diamond/Pearl.

Agreed, but what's happening next year is the interesting bit. Either Z has been substantially delayed, or they're legitimately going to have been advertising it the best part of a year in advance.
Well, the last movie knocked out a lot of the big contenders, and thanks to ORAS it's only really Mythical Legendaries left on the table.
Quickly glancing through Joe's events database, unless I've missed something the only Pokémon that haven't been distributed in Japan for Gen VI are Mew, Manaphy, Meloetta and Genesect. Of these, Genesect and Meloetta were distributed less than a year before X and Y came out.
Joe's Mega Mew suggestion may not be all that implausible.

There's generally a movie trailer in December that hints at the star of the movie which is why a lot of people weren't expecting a full Volcanion reveal until early next year.
The movie is still called "Pokémon the movie XY & Z 2016" and doesn't have a proper title yet. So if Volcanion is outright shown in the next trailer, there could be something else going on, since there would be no reason to withhold the actual title.

Volcanion introduces a new gimmick - Pokemon cannons. Specifically, you can load up Xerneas or Yveltal into one of its cannons and shoot it.

I wasn't dissapointed because I set realistic expectations. You guys should try it sometime. There is a lot less disappointment.
I did battles for the competition today. I only really entered because of the Event Delibird. Overall got 6-4 wins from my 2 games.

Not always, Jirachi, Arceus and Genesect got nothing. Earlier Mythicals like Manaphy and Darkrai didn't get a form either. Keldeo got one but it was just cosmetic.
It seems to be the trend so far in Gen VI though.

Seriously, though, whatever happens, it's going to be in the next few months. An announcement in February, right when the franchise turns 20 years old, does fit pretty well. The fartest I can see for the unveiling is May, like when they announced ORAS.

Dunno. I mean, I had pretty much no expectations for the leaks but still came away disappointed. Not just because we'd seen Volcanion due to datamining, but because mythicals just don't do anything for me anymore lol. It's yet another thing to throw in a box. Plus this asshole gets his own box because he's #721 and I have a living dex. What a waste of space =(

Does Ash-Greninja getting an TCG card strengthen or weaken its chances of appearing in the main series? I've heard that it's in Picross as well.
It's a perfect name actually. Volcanic eruptions are caused by accumulation and expansion of steam which is one of the main causes of the initial explosion. Someone actually blow up the top half or side of a mountain with how powerful they are

Can anyone help me set up a team here. I think I want to go back and do the gym leader division in Black 2 and I want to act as a gym leader myself.
