hahaha.

I wonder how many of those are accidental due to going to the items menu resets your selected Pokemon.

Then again, they might just have no idea what they are doing, which is kinda worse for high levels to make it that far without knowing how to effectively do battles. I saw this 1 guy take down a 3 pokemon gym the other day. Instead of battling all 3 at once, did 1 on 1.. Making slower, and strangely taking a little longer then it should have for them. I kinda guessed that maybe they are lower level, but was in 30s after they placed their Pokemon (that I knocked afterwards after I saw them leave)

I did an Alakazam raid the other day, there was one other person there, she was level 32. We beat the raid with one second left. There was another raid hatching in a few minutes, so we went over to that gym.

While waiting she asks, "is there a way to change which Pokémon you use? Or do you just have to go with what it picks for you?"

Probably doesn't battle much at all. I'm assuming raids are what got her to start.

I mean the only thing that makes sense to assume is that she doesn't do battles. It's not like engaging in gyms over other activities is the most effecient way to gain xp (aside from bubble strat). If she has done a lot of battles, then yes it is baffling lol

There was someone on reddit who said their father got to lv 40 without ever joining a gym team (so their colors were still white). So it's possible. Same thing with coins, some reported they knew people that did gym battles all the time, but never ever collected, cause they didn't knew they could or how.

Really, if you think about it. Makes sense, the game isn't always good at explaining things. Like took me a little while to really understand how dodging truly worked and even more importantly how presteging was effective with 1/2 CP Pokemon. I honestly at first thought I got more then 500p due to using a pokemon that could target the opponent's weakness (electric vs water). Then when I tried the same exact theory later on, I got under 500p. I was so confused. lol

We all know basically nearly everything and are in the know, because we keep in touch with each other and the community well. Esp with the Silph Road being so resourceful and so many good resources out there.

level 36 and only done 24 battles (looking at the medal). Only started to battle because of raids. Before I didn't bother because of spoofers and bots.

I think you can choose to not battle the next Pokemon after you beat one. So instead of battling through all 3 Pokemon, he battled 1, then quit the gym and returned until the Pokemon was KOd before moving on to the next.

This is what I understood at least.

Yep. That is what the guy did.

There were so many I observed that did this on the old system when trying to take down a gym. Esp if the gym had only 3 Pokemon, and none of which are special. Losing that extra 1000 reduction and only doing 500 at a time was so odd.

Did a lv 4 Rhydon raid this morning with 5 others, and it was enough xp to level me up to lv 35!

Gratz on 35!

We see that a lot. A few days I did a Lapras raid with some folks and they asked what was most effective (I recommended Fighting and Electric as the best options since they aren't weak to water and/or ice) and the highest level was like "Just take the most powerful."

Did a Tyranitar raid with 8 others, and while defeating it was a piece of cake, capturing it was a whole other story. After 2 Excellents, 4 Greats, 3 Nices, 1 Normal, and one deflected throw, it ran from me. It did give me 4 Rare Candies on top of a Fast TM, though. Up to 79 Larvitar candy from that.

Fun fact: a lvl. 11 Machamp with Fighting moves does more damage against a Tyranitar raid boss than a lvl. 40 Dragonite with Dragon moves.

Basicaly wasted a Premium pass paid for with real money, not even coins earned through occupying a gym because the raid battle errored out on me as the fight started, and it would not let me rejoin the private group of 11 trainers I was with after it. Kinda pissed now.

Say you got an error and ask nicely if they want to quit and restart. With such a big group, it's bound to happen someone's phone crashes or is unresponsive. We always restart if there's enough time.

We did that, several times, the error kept occuring. Even tried beign the one creating the private group, and I still got kicked out of the session.

Wow, I couldn't solo or duo a vaporeon, walked around for a bit, came back and 3 ppl had shown up, now I have a sweeeet water gun/hydro pump high iv beast 😁

I finally found enough people to do a Tyranitar raid after weeks of showing up to them and wasting raid passes only to be by myself or with one other person. We beat it on our second try. There was only six of us and it was super exciting and actually a pretty easy battle. Then the real game began. My fiancé, who's a super low level and only just got back into the game after almost half a year off, captured him on her first throw. She just threw the ball straight and was like, that was easy lol. It was so awesome because she has such a poor stock of pokemon to choose from in battles, so now she has something great to use in the future.

I however did not catch him on my first try. I was doing curve balls and getting greats and excellents and showering him with golden berries, but he kept jumping out. I was down to my last ball and it shook once, then twice and then…he popped out, flipped me off and skipped away. I'm such a mix of emotions. I finally got to attempt the Tyranitar raid and actually beat it! My fiancé finally has an amazing pokemon! But my white whale still eludes me. Hopefully I can find enough people to try the raid again, but my area is so dead it may be weeks before I get another shot. I guess when I do finally get him, all the disappointment will wash away.

Did a TTar raid with 3 friends. Since we were only 4 of us we thought we never make it but once we joined we saw that 10 other people were there lol
Don't know where they came from. It was super easy. Caught it too, one of us didn't though.
Also didn't get very good items, just rare candy and no TMs. 9 golden razzies though.

Meh, the raid system sucks for me.
I went to a 3 star Lapras raid yesterday afternoon, I work in a densely populated part of a huge city (London) so thought some people might show.
Turned up and there was a guy there playing with his phone but when I joined it was just me, failed to take it down obviously.

I don't have friends who play. I can't be bothered to join groups and co-ordinate raids. I most certainly don't want to blindly ask strangers if they're joining the raids.

Why can't the system work more like, you have an hour to knock down the raid monster's HP, and anyone who contributes gets items once it goes down?

Spoofers most likely. We do private raids to avoid that from happening.

No I don't think all of them were spoofers. The gym can be accessed from a building as well. Also I wouldn't lock out spoofers, I'd be happy since it means we can definitely make the raid.

Also still no news on the 1st Anniversary event hmm.

I was out of town for work for a week and got like 300 coins, it was amazing.

I was actually able to hold gyms, do raids, etc.

Now I'm back in my small hometown and the game depresses me.
Almost impossible to get coins with how fast gyms trade teams.

Went for a little walk and am now defending 5 gyms.
Let's see how long they last. It's weird that you neither want to be knocked out immediately nor last in them forever like before.

I think gym badges will become my new obsession now that I've almost completed the dex. Up to 60 now.

thats what i was advocating for a system like that it would be a benefit for all types of players be you a city or country player or solo or group focused but niantic likes to not think things over and throw what ever they can at the wall and hope it sticks instead

Went to a T4 raid earlier, and was a Snorlax! Sadly, no one showed yup. Kinda surprised, since was a popular spot. Tried to later do a Machamp raid by myself, could only get to 15% within health left. I don't really have a bunch of Psychic pokemon on me though. If I had lot more powered up, I believe I could do it. Esp as I could get it to 50% by time 50% time was left.

Did end up joining a Vaporeon raid. I drove to a USPS office and to see if I could do it on my own. Woah my surprise when I joined and someone was already in the lobby! That was lucky. Won it and got a Fast TM!

I've only gotten 2 TMs so far. I need a lot more. Used the Fast TM on my Tyranitar so I now have a Bite / Stone Edge Tyranitar. My other 95% Tyranitar I got from a raid is Bite / Crunch. I'll also have a 3rd, 98% Tyranitar soon, not sure if I'll want Bite / Crunch or Bite / Stone Edge. Probably Stone Edge.

Surprised they haven't announced anything for the anniversary event. It's tomorrow, right? I guess they'll announce it first thing tomorrow morning.
