Pokémon Go |OT 3| "No Officer, I'm a Passenger"

2/3 on Moltres. 91% and 84%. Both have Fire Spin and Overheat.

The raid where he escaped was all on me. It was drizzling out and I literally missed 6 balls in a row because my finger kept slipping. I only hit him 3 times. Instead of slowing down I kept digging myself in deeper and deeper, lol.

As far as catch difficulty goes, Lugia is still the easiest for me and Articuno is the hardest by far. Moltres is in the middle. He's farther back than he appears so sometimes my curveballs fall short even though they appear to be dead on. That gets a bit annoying. I just have to have a much more forceful throw and only attempt it when he's near the bottom of the screen.

In my experience the game tends to change the distance of the pokemon midfight. Happened with me with regular pokemon, and Legendaries too.
All too often suddenly a similarly thrown curveball hits a pokemon at the top, and a throw or 2 later it is suddenly not enough to reach it.

Went 1/2 last night on Moltres. I only ever did 1 Articuno raid and I caught that one, and I have 3 Lugia while only doing 4 raids for that. My first Moltres, I was underthrowing constantly. I just started waiting until it came down and then I hit it every time.

All about being patient.

I like https://db.pokemongohub.net/. They include the actual damage numbers, so you can see how close your moveset is to the optimal set. Sometimes it might not be worth using a TM if the moveset you already have is 98% as good as the optimal set.

Plus it is very mobile friendly.

That's the good stuff.

Caught another Moltres last night before my usual walk.

Might go hunting for more on Sunday since my other friends can't be arsed to meet up before 7 on the weekdays lol.

Definitely got the hang of it. Went 0/4 on the first raids I did for Lugia and Articuno. But I'm now 3/3 on my latest raids catching all three of them. Just got a Moltres with the dreaded 6 attempts. Hopefully as lucky with Zapdos.

Botched my first Moltres raid (Dropped my last ball trying to reposition lol), but the second went smoothly. Bad stats, but like Articuno I'm just in it for the dex.

I can't find anyone that wants to do a Lugia raid when they pop up, still need to get one for my wife.

Yeah. Best moves are at the top. You can also see the tier in the left column and both the DPS and percentage of optimal in the right columns.
The DPS listed doesn't take into account the number of charge bars though so you should generally ignore that.

Wow Moltres has been stubborn for me. I hit it multiple times with a great curve + golden razz and he just doesn't want to stay in. 0/2 so far.

Like others said, if the Pokemon has only 1 current move set for it's Fast attack, then, yeah you can't use it. Also, can't gain legacy moves either.

Did 3 raids, got one. Shitty IVs but I'm relieved now.

Edit: it's 10/11/10 lol. Probably the shittiest IVs I've ever got from a raid or egg

Are several people playing in your areas? I think it'll probably be impossible for me to catch these raid Pokémon unless Niantic drops another huge event to make people go out and play lol. I'm SOL.

There are easily hundreds of people actively following raids.

Local Pokémon Go Facebook page has 3500 members.

The local raid group has 950.

The last few raids have had about 30 people and that's just the 10 minutes or so that I'm there. People keep streaming over.

Did 3 raids today. Plus the last one also with my fiancee phone to try to get it for her.

Only caught 1, 89% though. So nice. Wish I caught one for her. Now 4/8. Can be tough when too far

Gonna have to start searching them because I'm not seeing much movement here in Lima, Peru and it really sucks. I've seen several Moltres and a couple of Lugia today, but couldn't do shit :(

0/7 now. This really sucks. Someone I met was apparently 0/16. Felt really bad for him.

0/16? Wow... like.. wow.

I'm 2/7 and I'm perfectly satisfied even with a few days remaining. I'm all about the dex entry at this point since the game on my phone keeps dropping frames, slowing down and lags to the point where I'm losing curve throws.

I just want the Pokedex entry at this point.

I don't care if it sucks. I can barely connect with my throws most of the time though. I always under throw or over throw. It's really frustrating since it seems like the circle for Moltres is a lot smaller than it shows.

That and he's farther than he looks.

I definitely agree that the hitbox for Moltres is deceptively smaller than it looks.

I remember my very first attempt at Moltres I thought it was similar to Articuno but boy was I wrong. I over threw when it was low and under threw when it moved up compared to Articuno who's hitbox regardless of it being high or low felt about the same.

In the end the way I approach Moltres is if its high, throw it as if I"m trying to catch a zubat and if its low, throw it if I"m trying to catch a machamp.

I'm sure you'll get at least one moltres. The two I got didn't even have the ball hit the circle for any additional bonus.

I was able to solo a Machamp raid for the first time today. I'm Level 34, using 3 Lvl 30 Espeons and 3 Lvl 30 Exeggutors (all double psychic). It wasn't an easy task, and I failed several times before finally breaking through with a few seconds left. You really have to be on point and make sure you dodge 5-6 Heavy Slam/Dymanic Punch charge moves.

I'm still not sure what I need to do to make the encounter a little easier. Apparently other people can beat Machamp with 20-30 seconds left, whereas it's always coming down to the wire for me.

Is there still an app to help you find Pokemon spawns around your or alert you of Pokemon around you? I recently started playing again after stopping for a year. I'm on Android btw.

Holy shit, I would have probably have wrecked my phone. I already felt like shit after 0/2. This stuff is just too much pressure for me. I hope I get Zapdos and then just chill for a while.

congrats. So far I haven't managed to make it. Problem is that I still can't dodge for shit. It just doesn't work for me. I start to think that's also due to my phone and the game running like shit.
I have a lvl 36 Espeon and a Lvl 36 Psychic/Grass Exeggutor and also a lvl 30 PP Exeggutor and a lvl 30 Espeon and a lvl 32 PP Alakazam but couldn't do it yet.

Wish they'd just give people a Master Ball or something after like 10 tries.

Seriously doubting I'm going to get Moltres at this rate lol

When you get to the catch portion, how many balls are you connecting with?

You really have to be patient. I'm 4/4 with Moltres and 6/8 on Articuno and I make sure that every ball connects.

If more than 10 people show up start splitting groups by team to maximize those bonus balls. Usually the Mystics form a group and Instinct and Valor group together.

I said wow
Finally caught a Moltres! Probably won't even bother catching any more because it's easily my least favorite of the legendary birds lol.
