Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Incense sure doesn't seem like it is worth using... Same crappy zubats show up.

Yeah, for the most part they're pretty terrible. I did catch three starter Pokémon yesterday though, but that was pretty atypical

I have much much much better luck with lures

Dropped 3 incense in my apartment, attracted about 15 pokemon, 4 of which I hadn't caught yet. More than the odd one or two that show up every now and then. Definitely works but won't be actually buying any.

This right here is one of the reasons why #10 on my list is rebalance Poke Balls.
Yeah it sucks. I have like five stops within a fifteen minute driving radius. Closest one to walk to is about 45 minutes away. There are plenty of locations that seem like they should be stops, but aren't. I really like PoGo but I'm not willing to drop cash on it every few days to keep playing. I can't manage my life around walking back and forth between the two stops at a park two miles away for hours at a time.

Just spent another $10 for pokeballs... This will be it for me, and if I don't find a nearby location with pokestops I'm going to have to stop playing out of necessity. Too bad.

I'm in the same boat. Already bought pokeballs twice today because there isn't a single pokestop nearby me. Meanwhile I hear about people passing by so many pokestops that they literally have to throw out balls because they can't carry anymore. Niantic really needs to do something about this.

Reading about other people's struggles, I guess I should feel fortunate. I've got 4 pokestops in a loop, which amounts to a 30 minute walk. I want to walk that everyday, anyway, so there's no reason for me to buy balls.

walking back and forth wouldn't make sense given that pokestops reset every 5 mins

just hit up a coffee shop or whatever and chill for an hour or so refreshing every 5 mins

There is no stop near a coffee shop. There are stops at both entrances to a park that takes about five minutes to walk across. I'd rather walk than sit in place and wait to swipe an icon over and over again.

i thought you meant each stop was 2 miles apart, i think i read your post wrong

There is a park about two to two and a half miles away, a 45 minute walk, that has a stop at either end. The park takes about five minutes to walk across. I can bounce back and forth between these points but that's really the most efficient way I can farm pokéstops locally. It's not like I live in the middle of nowhere, either. There aren't enough locations mapped.

I can conserve pokéballs by catching only the Pokémon I don't already have, but then I can't level up, and if I can't level up I can't participate in gyms, and if I don't participate in gyms I can't get free pokécoins. It's not great.

It's not like there's nothing here. But PoGo don't care.

I tried to capture a gym earlier today. I should've been easily able to defeat the pigeot there with my jolteon but once I got it down to barely any hp left nothing would happen it would just stop. I had to keep restarting the app. Hopefully they fix that soon.

Went with a friend to look for some local pokestops in nice locations we can walk around and farm up since we were both running low on items. Found a nice park with a gym and pokestop, then found it lead to a walking trail that had it's own five pokestops and gym along a circular route. Took about 20 minutes to make a full round so we decided to make a few laps and stock up. We ran into groups of 2-3 people all making the same circular round and chatted briefly about the game and what was around to catch. Told some kids about a Pigeot I ran into along the trail they were looking for. Was a pretty cool experience and got some nice exercise out of it.

dont rely on gyms for pokecoins

if you live in a somewhat populated area expect to get about 10-40 coins a day

you get 10 per gym you're at every 20 hrs

but you'll constantly be getting knocked out of the gym

where i live even if your gym is high tier it will last a few hrs at most

i've already made many detailed posts on this but imho the reward system for gyms is totally fucked and highly unsatisfying.

I've had my tier 7 gym all day in a suburban area. Looks like it's about to hit level 8 soon.

It's definitely possible to hold them for longer than a day.

so apparently you need to turn your phone upside down to use it idly so you don't lose your GPS signal. Another thing I wish the game outright told you.

Its super annoying how little the game tells you.

Turning in pokes to the professor to get candy, gym battle dodging, etc etc.

I think it's awesome! More reason to be social and ask people you find playing the game.

Games these days have enough hand holding.

i live in los angeles by tons of bars/restrauants/etc

no way in hell could you hold it for longer than a day here

my cp~1200 pokemon are constantly getting challenged by ~2k cp pokemon, its changing colors by the minute

EDIT: even if you are holding it for days, you are only getting 10 coins a day, which isnt shit, which proves my point

that feeling when you catch a good one but it hangs while the ball sits there and all you can do is either wait until your battery goes flat, or quit the app.

I quit and restart on one like that, and the "nearby" panel remained blank. So I guess some part of the server system was unreachable, but not all.

On the plus side my daily dog walk, even a "quick one", has about 8 pokestops or more. And 3 gyms. Its ludicrous. All the gyms seem to have about CP 600s on them currently.
