Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

On this note, I had my first Pokémon Go-related confrontation yesterday:

I was walking through a parking lot across the street from where I live because there was supposedly a Nidoking nearby. While I was standing in the middle of the lot and getting my bearings, a security guard came up to me and told me (not asked me) to leave. Normally I would have, but he came at me with a lot of attitude. So I told him what I was doing and that it was public property (which it was) and that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Then he told me I had to leave just because he said so, so I laughed at him and told him I would leave when I was done.

So he drives away, and having not found the Nidoking, I started to leave. Then he confronts me again at the exit to the lot and tells me people like me are the reason we're seeing these murders and stuff. He says it with a lot of foul language and racial slurs, so I look him in the face and call him unprofessional, and that pisses him off. He starts on a profanity-laced tirade while I walk away, confident I didn't do anything wrong and that I handled myself the best I could.

The worst part is, I never found the Nidoking :-/

You should contact whoever is in charge of the lot and report him. That is ridiculous and not okay.

Man, this is why the system sucks so much. Everyone just guesses and there are so many different theories. Sometimes they seem to check out, sometimes they don't. I went looking for a three footprint Squirtle last night, going by the "three footprints equals three-pulsing-rings-around-your-trainer away". It never went down to two prints after walking multiple ring-widths in every direction, but on the final direction a Mr. Mime also showed up as three prints away, and he did fit the three-pulsing-ring rule, getting a footprint closer every ring distance I walked. So I was happy to catch something, but annoyed that the footprint system makes absolutely no sense.

I WANT A MR. MIME!!!!!!

Closest rare I got is Scyther and Dratini.....did catch a Parasect when I saw him before I went to bed.....ran out that door running in every direction to see when he got to two steps and then ran that way lol

Haha! Awesome

I saw this on the news this morning, along with them bringing up the robbery again.

Does anyone else have a problem with the game locking up when you actually walk around outside? (iPhone 6S)

When I sit at my desk, the game rarely crashes (outside of the server problems). There's a stop close enough that I can tag it and common pokemon frequently pop up. But when I actually go outside, the game locks up after every encounter or Pokestop tagging, and sometimes more often.

I'm going to attack my first gym tonight, tips or tricks?

How many Pokemon can I use to attack it? Is there a cooldown if I fail until I can try again?
Bring potions. You can attack with a team of six. I recommend you attack with weak ones first then save your stronger ones for last. You can keep attacking for as long as you want regardless of winning of losing. The goal is to reduce the prestige of the gym to 0 to claim it. Watch out for the 1hp bug.

You also need to watch out for "ghost" pokemon that stay on the nearby list after disappearing. You can restart the app to see if a pokemon your searching for is still there. Hopefully this issue will go away with more server stability.

Using Wifi? My game kind of bugs out when I'm on the edge of Wifi. I usually turn Wifi off before I leave.

The game screen has to be on and active on your screen. If the screen is off, you won't get any walking credit.

The app was open the entire time. I visited several pokestops and caught a handful of Pokemon, but the game just didn't record any of the distance I walked until the very end.

Dabng, I dislike people like that. You should leave a complain to his company if you can. Specialy when you took the time to explain that you're not doing anything dangerous. I'm glad a lot of cops are more relaxed than dude. Security should not be like that guy.

Well I have now ran out of pokeballs and the temptation to buy 100 has never been stronger....I think ill just wait out the day and go for a walk after work once I can get in range of some pokestops.

It happens to me, its usually connection issues. I assume its because I'm downtown and verizon is nuts here, you can have fast service and walk five feet away and have no service.

I've noticed there's some lag with the eggs. I'll finish my walk and about 5 minutes later, the distance will update.

My local post office was retaken by my team again. Went there to help level it up to a 4. Got my Golbat into place and claimed my defender bonus right away. Nice.

Please report that guy

And hopefully that Nidoking will make an appearance again

You can attack with 6 pokemon. Typical pokemon weaknesses apply so try and take advantage of them. There is no cooldown but you will need to heal your pokemon after. I've found just tapping and using the regular attack continually does more dps than tap-holding for the special attack unless the special is a weakness move.

Also remember as long as you are defeating at least one pokemon at the gym you are helping to lower its prestige and take it over.

A lot of people have been telling me to report him and I'm seriously considering it, but there's always the chance he was just having a bad day and isn't used to people not immediately obeying his "authority". Also, the parking lot is right across the street from where I live, so odds are I'll see him again and I don't want a potentially-unstable individual knowing I reported him.

Golfing today, I always walk when playing. Good chance to hatch some of these 5k eggs and catch some Pokemon. Hopefully my partner doesn't mind, we're in 1st place in the league, but I may be a bit distracted.

If you look at the full list of near pokemons even pokemons with 3 footprints are aranged from close to far. so if your pokemon advance a position even having 3fp you're getting near

I've seen that Nidoking silhouette in that same area a few times, so hopefully it will!

As for reporting him, see my post above.

oops, just saw your post after I posted. Yeah, that makes sense. Hopefully it was just a person having a bad day and an incident like that doesn't happen again.

Awesome about the Nidoking. Guess its not just a lucky thing but that it naturally exists in your area. I'm jealous. Good luck catching it!

I see what your saying but a bad day really isn't a good excuse for racial slurs and saying someone is a product/instigator of recent racially charged murders and crimes. He sounds like a racist asshole and he shouldn't be in a position of authority especially if he has any kind of weapon which some security do.

Does incubation work while cycling? I cycled at a really leisurely pace today and very little, if any of the distance was tracked on the incubator. Super lame given that the trailer features people cycling.

Was at a outdoor food festival and it was fucking ridiculous how many people I saw playing this game.

Absolutely beautiful.

Give us a Pokemon Go 2 using the proper mechanics from the mainline games and you've got yourself another hit 2.0

Eagerly awaiting |OT2| As in "Go Home and be a family man"

My local news station is looking for Go players in order to do a story on the game. I live in Canada where the game isn't even out yet.

Me seated at my desk at work, about 20m out of range of that PokeStop. It's slowly eating away at me.

I biked 12 miles yesterday and it clocked a little over 2.5km. I think I was over the 12mph limit most the time.

I think the most frustrating aspect so far is the unreliable tracker.

It sucks when your tracker starts to "hang" and fills up with Pokemon that you've long since moved past, and will only go away when you restart the app. It REALLY sucks when you're trying to find something rare for your area, and the footprints will not change in either way no matter where you move, only for it to suddenly disappear even if you were two footprints away... and then you walk backwards a bit and it's suddenly three footprints away despite seemingly being closer than the two footprints before. Now it's totally gone.

Maddening.

Thats crazy. lol. This game is so massive right now.

My local news station did a story about how it can be unsafe cause of preying on the players by other players but noted how fun it is. They got a ton of stuff wrong about it during the story though.

Stuff was popping off right outside of my house just now.

It's hilarious to see the wandering horde of people staring at their phones congregate at these areas. Where i'm at, the game hasn't launched yet so lures are rather rare. They draw people in from all over town. This game is great.

Managed to snag about ten pokemon right from the comfort of my home. Including a Meowth, fuck yes.
