Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

So keep the Sandshrew with 146 CP and two ground moves (mud shot and dig) or train the 10 CP one with scratch and rock slide (more powerful than dig)?

Also does STAB even have an effect in Go?

Anyone know if there is any intention to let us reset?

I thought we could delete associations with apps via our google accounts but pokemon GO doesn't show up :(

Might go on a little adventure around the hood.

holy shit. Are you on the Area 51!??

I meant the green leaves, but seems liek they are pokemon spawns.

So these gyms I see are already taken? Surprised, tbh, there's one right besides my home, wonder if its someone on my same building.

Btw, my GPS seems a little buggy, keeps telling me it lost connection and although it works, it's quite slow to react.

The green leaves mean that there are pokemon in this general area, but don't expect to find a pokemon right on top of the grass.

You can't do anything with gyms until you hit rank 5. If the gym is lit up as a color (red, blue, or yellow), then that means that a team is controlling it. If it's your team, you can skirmish with their pokemon or place one of your pokemonn in the gym (assuming there is an open spot in the gym). If it's one of the other two teams, you can attack the gym to lower the gym's reputation, and once the reputation hits 0, you can take over the gym for your own team.

It absolutely 100% does, at 11mph or under and possibly 12mph or under. You may have run into server issues failing to update it though :(

Will be testing for 12mph on the dot later today.

Even though this is well below my standard cadence for cycling, it is still a great workout in a tough gear, and much faster than hatching them from a walking pace. A simple bike computer for watching your speed is a great buy for Go players and just in general imo. They're pretty cheap.
Do you mount your phone on your handlebars?

I'm reading over and over again the FAQ to be able to understand every single thing about GO! because I want to be the very best like no one ever was.
I used to be the very best. I traveled across the land, searched far and wide. I understood the power that was inside. Now I live in the middle of nowhere, and I suck dick for pokéballs.

Yeah just noticed that. Kinda creepy. I revoked access and things still seem to work fine (for now).

I revoked access and the app would just crash on subsequent launches. Had to remove it and download it again from the app store. After signing back in the Full Access has returned. Awesome.

Ooh. The green leaves aren't even consistent if they really are spawns. I have never seen a pokemon appear from them and some people say they might be an indicator of direction to walk.

By this point, I suspect all gyms have been taken. I'd be surprised if you find one without a team already occupying it.

I was surprised because I live in a small town. Also the gym is right beside my house and I never saw anyone that looked like playing the game. But yeah, I have 3 gyms on my map and all have a different symbol and a pokemon flying upon them.

Btw, holy shit this game does like to eat battery.

Does the game automatically log you in to your Google account on your Android phone or does it prompt a log in page where you can enter your account details?

I don't want to use the Google account tied to my phone but another one I have.
It brings up a list of accounts tied to your phone.

Shot in the dark here, but is anyone in the Los Feliz/Silverlake area of Los Angeles interested in a meetup sometime this week? I need more Pokéfriends in the area.

It prompts me and gives me a list of the accounts I have signed in on the phone's mail app as well as the option to sign into a new one.

Incense seems pretty useless. I would go so far as to say its a waste.

I get ~double the encounter rate walking along my road with incense active vs. without.

I'm in a rural area though. It might not matter in heavily populated zones.
IMO, incense is for when you're either in the middle of nowhere (like hiking off map) or completely stationary where there no pokes nearby, but still want to play PoGo a bit. If you have literally any other option availabile to you to go hunting at a given moment, that option is better.

Tracked down a 3 footprint growlithe and lost it to server crash. At least I managed to get a Scyther.

Is it not good to stack incense and lures?

This game isn't out in the UK yet but if its GPS location based surely it's easy as fuck to spoof you're location and cheat right?

Are there any measures to stop cheaters?

Idk about STAB but I've found just using the regular attack continuously leads to more DPS due to the special attacks long buildup. The exception is if the special attack is the opponents weakness and the regular attack isn't.

The website FAQ mentions team changes and things so it's probably something you'll be able to do in the future.

Do you mount your phone on your handlebars?
I don't. Actually I keep it in my backpack, which isn't super convenient. The Go Plus is sooo compelling to me for this reason.

This game is the best incentive I've seen for one of those handlebar phone mounts though, just to know when you're in range of something so as to stop... But I've been really hesitant to get one of those things so far. It seems like it could be dangerous to me... Then again, I've seen lots of people out riding with their phone in one hand, which is obviously worse!

Can anyone who has a mount like that weigh in and comment on safety? Maybe recommend a particular brand?

I'd actually like to put together a "Playing Pokémon Go via Bike" post. This game has basically been a dream come true for a suburban/cross-terrain cyclist like me.

Let's say you're taking on a Level 7 gym of a rival color, you beat the first one or two Pokemon but then lose.

Have you lowered the gym's prestige at all?

Theres a pidgeot in my neighborhood, but if I already have one, is it worth looking for a pair?

The pokemon you find have a higher CP the higher your level gets so there's a chance it's stronger. If it's weaker you can always transfer it for more candies to power up the one you have or evolve another one.

Is it possible to get lucky eggs at a pokestop?

I don't think so. At lvl. 15, the only things I've gotten from pokestops are pokeballs, eggs, potions, revives, super potions, great balls, and hyper potions. I have gotten lucky eggs from leveling up though, it seems to give you at least one paid item (incubator, incense, lure module, lucky egg) whenever you level up.

I've noticed that incense works better for me so far when I'm moving around a lot. Used it twice yesterday. When I was walking on a trail, it allowed me to catch 3 eevees, clefary and a ghastly. Among a bunch of others.
