Since I've never really played Pokemon before, I can't tell if what I'm catching is good or bad or rare, etc. Tried looking up a few 'rarity' charts, but also read that many of them are BS. For my interesting catches yesterday, I got a Clefairy, an Electabzz, a Haunter, 2 Hypnos, a Psyduck, a Staryu, and a Wartortle. Are any of these particularly good?
It depends on the CP you caught them with but Electabuzz, Haunter and Wartortle are pretty rare so nice job!

Was that the level you caught your vapareon at? Mines higher but I had to eat some decent dust
Tonight's highlights.
Caught a Psyduck! And then 2 minutes later caught a Golduck!

FINALLY got a Vaporeon, who quickly overtook my Flareon for my second BAE.

New pecking order.

It's not over - you know where she lives. If you liked her, go be in the area and doubtless you would bump into her again and start again.
$20Just curious, have people here already spent money on the game? If so, how much?
It makes me wonder if this app prints money. Because buying stuff isn't really necessary to enjoy the game.
Generally for this game, the higher the CP, the stronger the pokemon.
But you shouldn't concern yourself with high CP pokemon until you get past like...level 10.
Yeah I'm level 20 and would kill for a wartortle
Oh, ok. I'm only level 6 right now. I wanted to challenge a gym, but I don't want to lose any of my cool ones until I'm sure I can crush the gym holders.
Come to Knutsford, England. I don't know why, but my apartment has spawned 27 unique Pokemon including those 3 I listed. The only new ones I got for wandering around outside were the Psyduck and a Squirtle. -_-
Nah...I caught my Vaporeon at like...level 17 tonight lol. And it was only like 550 CP.
I evolved a 390 Eevee into an 800+ Vaporeon.
The Eevee was like... 502. Evolved into the screen shot CP. The last screenshot with the higher CP is after powering it up two times I think. Was that the level you caught your vapareon at? Mines higher but I had to eat some decent dust

Since two are second evolutions and one is permanent it's not great but you did just start so as you level up your CP finds will become wayyyyy higher. Most important is that you have these Pokemon caught because you can always build a strong CP team later on while finding rare Pokemon is pretty hard. The Electabuzz is 282, Haunter is 131, and Wartortle...18.
They don't seem particularly high, but all of them popped up in my living room, so no real skin off my back, I guess. One of the Hypnos was 333. That seems decent.
I really hope Niantic and Nintendo will keep supporting this with lots of content.
I really enjoy the game, but I also have the feeling I will drop it within the first month.
Claiming gyms is fun, but it will also get old pretty fast.
I can't believe this isn't out in the UK yet.![]()
You don't lose pokemon. If they lose in gym battles, you just have to revive them and heal them with potions.
Basically if you find a gym with pokemon around your CP, feel free to try and battle.
You won't lose them if you die. They will just need to be revived.

It's kind of different everywhere but I'll give a small list of common and rare Pokemon:
Common:
Caterpie
Weedle
Zubat
Nidoran male and female
Eevee
Clefairy
Bellsprout
Pidgey
Drowzee
Spearow
Venonat
Oddish
Magikarp
Psyduck
Poliwag
Tentacruel
Krabby
Not as common:
Pigeotto
Golbat
Jigglypuff
Hypno
Shellder
Horsea
Slowpoke
Abra
Squirtle
Charmander
Goldeen
Seel
So anything not listed here is pretty rare.
I am so sorry. D:Ah, awesome. Thanks!
Cheers. Might try to tackle them today, then.
I have a Gengar on screen right now...and no pokeballs left after hitting him solid 3 times. ;_;

I've never once seen a Magikarp and I'm on 98 seen; so that's another strongly regional one.
Meh...I got a lotta work in store for me

So even if all your pokemon are in the 200-300 CP range, if you say, find a level 1 gym with a 500CP pokemon, you'll have 6 pokemon to try to defeat that 1 pokemon..
Gym leaders Pidgeotto was super effective against my Jolteon while Jolteons attacks were not very effective. I thought it was supposed to be the opposite?

Gengar is pretty rare D:
Should also note that with gym battles, you can bring 6 pokemon with you and the amount of pokemon at the gym depends on the Gym Level. A level 1 Gym will only have 1 pokemon to challenge, level 2 will have 2, etc... up to level 10.

Once you lower a rival gym's prestige to 0, you can then place 1 of your own pokemon in that gym.
What are the attack types? That's what matters. Jolteon might be using pin missile which is bug type. Maybe the Pidgeotto was using an earth type attack.Gym leaders Pidgeotto was super effective against my Jolteon while Jolteons attacks were not very effective. I live in Los Angeles county, so I'm sure the stop frequency situation isn't terrible (studio city to be exact)Still better than me. D=
Do you live in an area with a ton of pokestops? When did you start the game?
The game is now available in Germany.
Out now in Europe. Both Android and iOS.
Man you guys have super high level pokemon already, do you find better pokemon once you gain a higher level?
I'm never gonna get even one gym at this pace lmao
