I went to the Battle Maison for the first time today to get BP so I could get some power items for EV training. I made it all the way to battle 20 without much difficulty. Then this happened.

Wow, you got lucky the AI went derp lol.
255 is max so you need to keep track to squeeze out that extra stat point.
252 is now the max, so you no longer have to keep track.

Super training is kind of addictive. I just wish the mini games were a little more fun. They could have repurposed that card game from HG/SS and I would have 100+ hours played already.

So I want a Mawile with the following IV distribution: 31 / 31 / 31 / ? / 31 / 0

Here's what I've got in the daycare right now:

Male: destiny bond 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 / ? / 0
female: everstone 31 / 31 / ? / 31 / 31 / 0

There is no way to improve my chances of getting the distribution I want, right?
The Power items are good for transferring down specific IVs, but I find them more useful at the beginning when you don't have many perfect IVs between the parents. At the stage you're at, I don't think there's much you can do beside ride your bike and hatch more eggs.

Do any people here ever use substitute for anything? I remember the idea of it was really badass in the minds of us kids back in the days of red and blue, and I've noticed it listed in tons of competitive sets during my brief glances at smogon, but I've never actually seen it do anything useful at all. It seems like the game is so fundamentally offensive that any turn spent setting one up would have been better spent on a buffing move or just plain attacking.

Hmm, wonder if I should train it?
Its a shiny, Jolly Gabite with 31HP/ATT, but 0-3 SPEED.

Tough call. Garchomp's edge is his speed and you want to be confident that you can outspeed opponents. But the spectacle of a shiny is worth training in my book, especially if it's Jolly. IVs aren't really all that important unless you're fighting tooth and nail with another Garchomp. How often does that happen to you?

That's weird, I remember quickly maxing out two stats to get to the Aegislash level to get a dusk stone. Maybe I just forgot I did a quick thing or used one of my leftover bags.
EVs cap at 252 this gen. Even horde training/fighting wild pokemon will stop you at 252 so you don't need to worry about wasting any.

It's good for baton passing. Also when seismic toss and the like were popular, the ability to create subs with 101 HP was useful. It can allow Gliscor with poison heal and protect to stall out stuff.

super training should just have the mini games for poke-aime. I fucking love poke-aime minigames.

Especially the berry and yarn ones. So. Much. Fun.

In fact, super training should just be a mix of minigames from the Mario DS game. God those where fun. (or how about a pokemon party?)

...I like minigames yes.

I would purchase the shit out of pokemon party that gives EV points

Nope, Super Training will automatically stop you at 252.
Awesome thanks! Now I don't have to keep track.

I know you can still use the extra 2 EV's. I just didn't know if they would force me to use them if i didn't keep track.

Anyway thanks for also responding.

Yes to everything you said. I wish super training were just casino games and pachinko.

Ok, i'm a noob at this IV thing. I just found a male Rufflet with 31 IVs in Attack and Speed but without its Hustle ability. I have a male Rufflet with not so good IVs but it has Hustle. How would i go about getting a Rufflet with Hustle and pass down its 31 IVs in Attack and Speed? any help would be appreciated :D

I don't know if this is old, but if you're connected to the internet and you go into VS Recorder and then put the 3DS into sleep mode, you don't get disconnected from the internet.
Found that out by accident. Was kinda happy.

The reason it works that way is actually because it doesn't really go into sleep mode. Try plugging in some headphones and doing that. You'll see what I mean.

ditto + hustle-bird. Breed til you get a hustle female.

Good-IVs dad plus hustle female. Use Power items or destiny knot.

When are you supposed to swap in Lucario? I keep getting this dude killed. Everything that's rock usually has earthquake and he gets killed by non-stab earthquake like a little bitch every time.

If I can get passed the hurdle of mega-evolving + sword dance its smooth sailing but I can't seem to get that 90% of the time.

Difficult (probably impossible) to do exactly that since Rufflet is 100% male. Do you have someone with Rufflet in their Friend Safari? Probably best to just catch one in there with Hustle and two perfect IVs, then start the arduous process of breeding strictly with friend safari Dittos.

I've just started breeding. It's actually pretty fun, though I'm probably doing some things in an inefficient way.

I find breeding alone enjoyable. I started with the idea of making a competitive team (which I have about completed) but don't know if I will actual compete. I just think it is fun to make useful, custom pokemon.

so, what does tipping do?

and should i go for a poliwrath as a permanent in my party, or poliwhirl?

im not crazy about poliwrath's macho-like design.

That always happens when you first start learning how to breed. It gets easier the more you do it.

Indeed it does. I never imagined it being so engaging though. I bike around places left and right and all around without getting tired of it enough to put it down. I can't explain it.

Yup. It's actually quite relaxing. Even though I have my team completed already, I still want to breed some more Pokémon. Lol.

So, when breeding, what's more efficient?

> Accumulating a bunch of Mawiles in the PC, then go to the IV judge once I have like 30 or so, repeat

OR

> Accumulate 5 Mawiles at a time (because I need one slot for Talonflame's flame body + fly), fly to IV judge, repeat?

I go for the latter because my Hatch power usually ends right after I hatch the 5th egg.

5 at a time and repeat. I only do the former when I've come from Masuda Method. Though YMMV, of course.

Well, I certainly appreciate your help. <3
=3

And yeah, five at a time is the best. It gives Hatching Power a chance to respawn, you can see if you have the baby you need, and you can see if there are any better children that you can replace with the parents.

GG GoldenChicken, I didn't realize I picked triple battle lol, probably someone challenged me to one earlier and I declined.

Also, it's really stupid that the game will save the battle settings like that.

Ok, I have a LARGE number of Swinubs, basically all Adamant, with a range of 1-3 or 4 perfect IV's between HP, Attack, Defense, and Speed, a lot with Thick Fat, and then others with Oblivious and Snow Cloak.

If anyone wants one, let me know! I have like nearly two boxes full.

Why do you need to train Dittos if they just turn into the other Pokemon? Can you just slap choice scarf on a random imposter one and call it a day?

I think they keep their own HP, though, so you have to train that.

Kinda fun to throw an Imposter out on an opponent's Mega Pokemon and sweep their team.

Asking again, anyone have a Harvest Phantump/Trevenant they can part with? Natures are whatever, I'll re-breed for optimal stuff.
