Pokémon XY |OT4| Don't Bank On It

I was originally going to complete a living dex, but I quickly realized that it was too much for me. My concession was to, instead, keep around the final evolution of everything, instead of one form of each evolution. This means I can just breed in future games to finish off the dex. Not as quick as having one of each, but not terrible either. That said, I am still only half way to completing the dex and it is starting to heavily burn me out. Too much of a repeat cycle, get first form of 4 pokemon I need in the dex, do a run of Le Wow double battles until they all level to final form, repeat forever. Not looking forward to the actually rare pokemon, but I have every game from Gen III on complete so I could transfer if I needed to I guess.

I actually feel like a lot of the Pokemon I'm missing come from the BW games. And considering X is the first game I've played since Ruby & Emerald...um... I literally have no idea what I'm missing. Gonna have to start using Bulbapedia or something soon to help me fill in gaps.

Not sure if this will help, but these are unobtainable Pokemon in X/Y. Though sure some of us would be willing to help where we can.
Edit: Bit curious. For those of you who have been or are breeding for shinies, what's been the most frustrating Pokemon for yall? (Or multiple ones.. if the case may be.)

I'm just about to begin anew on a digital copy of Pokemon Y. I want to change my 3DS region however, to be able to catch/evolve a specific Vivillon pattern. Currently, my region settings are: United States, California. I want to change it to: United States, Hawaii, for the "ocean" wing pattern. The problem is that the console advises me that if I change my country setting, I will no longer be bale to browse the eShop. Can I not change from California to Hawaii?

Hm, just brought it up in my 3DS to check it out. The initial warning is if you're going in it's letting you know that if you change the country you'll be unable to do the Miiverse and eShop thing (because it requires an NNID that is attached to that region). If you leave it as US but change state to Hawaii, it should be fine. Did it without any issue.

That list would be even more helpful if it listed the most recent gen each pokemon could be found in, but still already very helpful!
And thanks for the offers to help with my dex, but I don't need most of the actually tough ones to get such as Mew or Darkrai or whatnot, so I would feel silly having someone take the time to trade me a Pidgeot! Just something I'll work on slowly.
All said, I own a flashcart with White/White 2 on it (I own the games, just bought the flashcart to keep all my games on one cartridge at once back in DS days!) which has made it a whole lot easier to get pokemon like Mew for my dex, because I can activate cheats on an emulator on my computer to get mew, transfer the save to the flashcart and trade it to my real White/White 2, then PokeTransfer it to X/Y. And I don't even feel bad doing it, because gamefreak refuses to allow some of these pokemon to ever be available in any way!

Agreed. Event Pokemon are one thing I don't mind bending my own rules for. Mainly for fact it's such a pain in the ass to get them. Don't get me wrong, I have quite a few event Pokemon that I've gotten myself, but I've missed out on some over the years. And have they don't any serious Mew event since the original Nintendo Power days where only like 151 folks got lucky enough for a legit one? :/ Still bitter about that, LOL. Was one of the only times I WANTED to get picked for something in that magazine. (Never won jack from it though.)

Remember, you have to start a fresh game with the new area. Otherwise, yeah.
I did that on my Japanese 3DS. Instead of crappy Elegant I set myself up to be in Okinawa just to start game for Monsoon Vivillon. Swapped back to where I am after fact. It's nicer than having same damn thing everyone else does.LegionAgent

Hey Muku? You asked what was the most frustrating shiny attempt? I'd say Ralts easily. Well over 1k in eggs before I finally got one.
Speaking of frustrating shiny attempts...Cottonee is being a massive pain. I've lost track of how many eggs I've hatched, but it feels like it's going to take forever until a shiny appears.

Bulbasaur. My first breeding Shiny hunt. It took me about 1100+ eggs (if I were to guess, honestly lost count but know it was well over 900) to finally get one. I was long past the threshold where I would see my umpteenth normal Bulbasaur and attempt to justify to myself that it was Shiny on the Hatch screen.
I was sooo happy when I finally got it. Since then I've gotten a Hidden Ability competitive one transferred, but I still have the OG banked as well.

Geez, I don't feel so bad with Ponyta and most recently Piplup. Easily over 1k eggs with them. Probably same with Porygon but I stopped after some unreal amount... to hatch Piplup. I went from a nightmare to hell. LOL.

I kind of had same problem when I was doing the dex.. and I probably really should have done something like this earlier.

Also I just need Whimsicott now, and I might have it rebreed Axew anyway since I got a female DreamBall Axew.

Wow. Seems like my savefile just broke. I don't know what I did wrong, didn't turn off while saving or anything. A few hours ago I could still play, I was just about to transfer some nice past event pokemon to X, when pokebank told me, there is no version of X or Y in the slot.
500 hours. pokedex slowly growing towards completion. Finally had all Mega Stones gathered. The time it took to pick up some more Leftovers. Or multiple copies of the Battle Maison items. Hatching and train competitive gen 6 pokemon. Damn. I wrote an email to Nintendo, but I obviously don't have much hope.
I'm so done with this shit.

Something I really shoulda done while I was finishing my own Dex. I think I was just so focused though on getting it done it became an obsession that left little room for anything else, heh.Oh man, that's awful. I'm so sorry to hear that. You say in the slot, so it's an actual physical copy? I haven't heard of anyone's physical copy giving out. Concerns me even more now. Probably should toss my competitive Pokemon into Pokebank until I'm ready. I worry easily about this stuff. Considering I've got 850 hours into mine, I'd be pissed if I lost what I have.
Though most stuff is in Pokebank already... so I wouldn't lose everything..

I skipped all that fake Pokebank shit. Just seemed like stupid mini games with some storage. Though didn't realize you could get Manaphy AND Mew from it. Though at this point... seems like a crapshoot. I've transferred all my Pokemon up at this point, so reaching those Pokemon marks would be a pain in the rear. Anyone have My Pokemon Ranch and the Manaphy and/or Mew from it? I'd love to have copies.

It's a Phione, not a Manaphy.
And I can probably get a Mew from the game if you REALLY want one. I don't have it but there are ways lol.

Yup Muku, it was an actual physical copy of the game. I did some research and quite some people had the same problem with Pokemon Bank.

Thanks but I just woke up to it now, I got my shiny charm! As well as Adamant Mesprit in Pearl, which changes things but the next set of pixies can be stealth rock users in Diamond.
Oh man that's horrible, and you gave me my first great battles too.

Well...another scatterbug in GTS, and this time a shiny porygon2
Somehow the two shinies I got from GTS by trading scatterbugs, the porygon2 and porygon-Z, are both from germany.

Heres hoping it is a false alarm Mother Green (dirty contacts or something).
I guess you can combine it with Pokebank for cloning (if you can use Pokebank) anything important and well if the game breaks, powersaves makes items trivial to obtain so you just lose PGL records.
The problem is if it is the cart itself that is broken you can't restore your save onto a different cart (the saves are cart locked).

Thank you all for the support! PokéGAF is best GAF! I ordered one of those PowerSaves now, so that will take care of the countless items I lost and maybe let me back up my savefile. Should be here by saturday. If Nintendo can't help until then, I'm going all tabula rasa. Would be amazing if you could help me out with some gen VI Pokémon if that happens. I will take care of the rest.

Aye. Sorry to hear that Mother Green. Powersaves has literally saved my save from death before (Thanks to it holding multiple saves). I hope it works out for you because losing such an investment in anything is fucking frustrating.
