I'm in. I'll give it a chance. Reviews of the Japanese release seem rather positive.

To those complaining about it not being a remake. Seriously? Has there been a remake in recent in anime, movies, games that has superseded the original? If there has, it seems to be rare. All that ends up happening on GAF, Reddit, the blogs is bitching, moaning, complaining how it's not like the original. If you want the original again, go get the original, watch the original,

It's still like the dumbest decision in the world to make a retelling of Ash's origin story and not bring back his companions for it. You know, the really iconic characters that are beloved and sorely missed in the current anime? You know?

Might as well have retold Ash's journey without Pikachu ffs. Though that might have actually been interesting - an alternate universe retelling where he gets up on time and gets a normal starter.

Origins was the best piece of Pokemon animated content ever made I don't understand

Origins was rushed and flawed and Red is a terrible trainer. It had a disjointed narrative and was just pandering to nostalgia.

What hype? The only reason it got hype was because it was a mobile Pokémon game that you could play on your phone. Weeks after the release people started clamoring for the other gens to come and they're still only on Gen 2!

Nostalgia really does destroy things sometimes.

She has a piplup, is from Twinleaf Town, & has a design that could be a possible PC look. There's already a precedent for a remake changing the heroine with Kris/Lyra. I can't call it a sure thing yet, but the signs are there.

Leaf, Misty, Kris, & now potentially Dawn, I'm starting to think Pokemon has a bit of a problem with treating the leading ladies as more disposable than the guys.

Lol what? That is so far from reality, I don't know what to say. I talked to several hundred people of all ages and in different cities, and the only things they wished for were the introduction of the legendary Pokemon and PvP. The majority didn't even know that there are more than 150/151 Pokemon, and if they did, they only knew the first 250/251. The Pokemon Go hype was entirely based on Nostalgia.

Those new companions were completely irrelevant to the plot.
I found the only great parts of the movie were the remade parts, and all of the newly added stuff were not good.

I remember the when Ash tried to catch one, I actually thought that it meant that Dunsparce was getting a new evolution in gen 6...then Dunsparce flew away and gen 6 came and went with only 1 cross gen evolution.

Whoa, wonder that this means for the Sinnoh remake?

They are treated much better in Pokémon Adventure/Special, with the exception of Leaf and Lyra as Kris and Green/Blue were given their roles.
