I am traveling Saturday to my buddies house that already has his and mine and will try to get some kind of impressions out here between doing stuff if he doesnt mind

I don't want him getting into trouble
Did he sign an NDA or anything? If not, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about! Not his fault that he received it early if he's not a well-known streamer or what-have-you.

He didn’t sign an NDA but he also not supposed to be doing what he is doing for me and he can be paranoid

Also he says his unit was quiet playing COD last night but not a very stressful game either

The only thing that matters to me is whether Sony's engineers managed to address the major issue that PS5 Slim suffers from - an obnoxiously loud fan. This will obviously depend on the choice of heatsink and fan. They absolutely got it right with the launch PS5, but screwed up by including a PSU that produced a very loud coil whine. Then they fixed that with the first PS5 internal revision, but screwed up the cooling completely with the PS5 Slim revision. I am quite worried about the PS5 Pro to be honest because it is based on the Slim revision. We will see.

Had no idea about fan noise on the slim. I have a launch PS5 and never heard a sound from it. I do however remember having headphones on the whole time to play on the PS4 Pro.

Hope they don’t fuck up with the PS5 Pro.

Yes, the slim is significantly louder than the launch PS5 mainly because the fan spins faster to compensate for a much smaller heatsink. There are also several versions of fans that the slim ships with (fan lottery), worst one of which is the NMB fan which produces a whistling sound that some people refer to as UFO sound. This kind of stuff really pisses me off because there is absolutely no excuse for having a console this loud in 2024. Freaking Microsoft solved this issue in 2020 with their Series X and they are not exactly known for producing high-quality hardware - their controllers suck compare to the Dualsense as an example.

Weird to have an embargo this long and only a couple of days before release. I wonder if it has anything to do with Monster Hunter Wilds open beta that is ending on the 3rd.
