Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

Goddamn! I'm so stoke!! I'm buying both!! First time since Gen 1 that I will be getting both version. November can't come fast enough!!

Not sure what you are getting at here, X/Y were completely new games that just came out (and B/W, B/W2 right before that). Most Pokemon fans expected/anticipated this, it is pretty consistent with the release pattern for Pokemon games.

Yeah, adding a new gameplay dynamic that ties into actual story is tough to retcon, so a sequel makes a bit more sense. Or maybe a remake + expansion equivalent, where you don't get the mega stones until you clear the remake portion.

The long lifecylce of the DS forced GF to make another gen and B2W2 couldn't be released on the DS. Usually they skip a year, but now we're getting another game and the next version of X and Y should wrap up the gen around 2015/2016 in time for a new device.

The team logos look like stylized Alpha and Omega signs (Even if they were originally meant to be A and M).

There is also a judeochristian element to the legendary Pokemon: The Regis are golems and the Weather trio are based on Leviathan, Behemoth, and Ziz.

Pokemon X Y just released last year. A remake, right now, is much better than a 3rd version (which is also a remake of sorts.
 
I hope we get some actual info soon, if at the very least to clarify the info they've already given.

Were FRLG/HGSS ever described as a "new world" or anything similar?

lol, your gonna be truly pissed when Gen 1 remakes come out on 3DS in a couple years , after X2/Y2 (We all know its gonna happen.)

Anywayz: Really fantastic to see the remakes so soon! Thought we'd get Gen 6 third version first.

Too bad about no 3D everywhere AGAIN. WTF GF. Please atleast be 3D in all battles.

Not much else to say at the moment due to lack of info. Loved Gen 3 and will happily replay through the remake/sequel (whatever it is) when it launches.

There were some really cool (loved fashion and online), but there were too many things (mainly content and difficulty wise) that bugged. Hopefully they bring back challenge mode.

LOL at people still think that FRLG and HGSS only happened because of necessity. Pokemon has been a cash grabby series for very long time.

This is according to past release schedules for Pokemon. For Gen One we had Red and Blue and then Yellow. For Gen two we got Gold and Silver and then Crystal. Two new games released simultaneously and a third instalment after. Each gen with no fail .

However during the third gen we got Ruby and Sapphire but then we got Firered and Leafgreen which were remakes of Red and Green. After that we got Emerald.

Gen Four gave us Diamond and Pearl with its third instalment being Platinum. After that again we got the second gen remakes, Heartgold and Soulsilver.

Gen Five was the odd one out, breaking the pattern. We got Black and White but then we got Black and White 2, a direct sequel.

Now with Gen six we got X and Y with the Gen 3 remakes of Ruby and Sapphire This November, little over a year later. A third instalment (Z or X and Y 2) will probably come next.

It's not a definitive pattern but it's not breaking new ground or unprecedented either and it's a remake (or expanded/sequel) of one of the best instalments to boot. People are happy.
 
Another thing to note, is that these will be the first Pokemon games to be released with Pokebank connectivity from the start. Assuming that you can transfer to and from Pokebank right from the beginning, as you can in X and Y, you can potentially start your adventure with any Pokemon team/moveset you want!

I really doubt they will release sequels to 11 years old games. Part of the current Pokémon fandom weren't even born when RSE was released.

Hopefully Pokébank won't be available until late in the game, then. I don't want to read people complaining about the game being easy when the easiness is entirely their fault.
 
Really wish it was Alpha Ruby and Omega Sapphire, actually, since it follows the naming order of both those things

It's weird since I think Brock is actually easier to deal with in Gen I since you can just use Growl/Tail Whip while Onix uses Bind and it doesn't have Rock Tomb.

Why are people saying it has to be an straight remake or a sequel? Can't it be a unique adventure in Hoenn not really related to the originals, but with references and recurring characters for those who played the originals to notice?
