Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

So looking at the new anime preview, does that mean Brock and Ash are gone? Or do you guys think it will be like Hoenn where they had 4 characters.

Ash is (always) in, Brock's out (to my surprise.)

Both. It's like Advanced or Diamond & Pearl.

New season I beleive, its not a whole new different series.

I can't see how it could be both, advanced and diamond and pearl are different seasons (the main character is the same just in a different setting)

I would class a new series as having totally different characters.

Ya I don't know why I said Ash will be out. I mean he is in that drawing pictures with the new girl and new Pokemon.

BTW anyone know where these early rumours were posted about triple battles and the new girl not being from the games? Because most of them are coming true right now.

Manga was never in english.

The manga is in English. Viz has been rereleasing the old volumes, and has the first Gold/Silver volume. Check it on their site and Amazon. Though I don't know why they are pulling the same bullshit where a new issue comes out every 3 months like Japan. It would take years for us to get all of the volumes. -_-;

I thought there was another company releasing the manga? I'm pretty sure I've seen the Diamond/Pearl series in English. Or were they bootleg? >_>

"Best Wishes!" sure sounds like the last one..

Pokebeach interviewed one of the show's writers once, and he pretty much said "When will the show end? LOLOLOL itprintsmoney.gif".

It's not ending.

Why hasn't Konami informed me of this?

Because of a lack of interest they stopped releasing the english volumes at volume 7, this year they decided to resume it and have finally caught back up to where they stopped originally, hopefully people keep buying so they can make it to volume 8 and beyond

Damn its time for an epic ending that will make our inner childhood cry like a baby.

I think the Diamond and Pearl one is English written and made. At least thats what that what the credits in each of them lead me to believe.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ash wins the Gen V Pokémon League and they carry on with a new protagonist. Unfortunately, I doubt they could come up with a Rival as good as Paul again.

^ Unless Paul follows him to the next saga! But it seems they're starting almost completely fresh with Brock gone as well.

Chuang Yi Comics in Singapore has been releasing the Pokemon Adventures manga steadily. Currently at Volume 33.

Yeah, that's what I was looking for! :D I'm probably going to purchase the whole set once the Black & White Saga starts up.

Hmm, Possibly. I think it was these that I saw http://www.amazon.ca/s?_encoding=UTF8&search-alias=books-ca&field-author=Shigekatsu%20Ihara? :S

In that same interview I believe he also said they'd never get rid of Brock.

And, well...

I'm sorry, but do you have any basic grasp on business? Popular thing is popular, thus it makes money, thus it carries on being produced until it is no longer profitable.

The Pokemon anime is commercial content. It's gonna stay for as long as it can.

I wasn't doubting that the anime would go on for a while longer. I was doubting the accuracy of the interview. It was taken more than a few years ago so I don't think we can use it to prove one thing or another.

Ah, OK.

I wouldn't be so quick to doubt that this will be the last "series" of Pokemon, however. Japanese anime are very tied to their seiyuu and if more than a couple want to leave, the show will probably just end. By the time the BW arc finishes up the anime will have been airing for more than 16/17 years. I think that's probably enough. Yeah, it's a cash cow, but voice actors can't go on forever.

Personally I'd like to see Pokemon Chronicles get the full-blown anime treatment, even though it'll be much less profitable.

Whatever, there'll still be some sort of Japanese Pokemon animation on television in 10 years, assuming the popularity of the games doesn't collapse. I can see 'the adventures of Ash and co!' ending, yeah, but Pokemon anime will go for ages.

It's business motivated, don't forget, not creatively motivated. It's made to sell games. Nintendo will keep this bitch alive even if people do leave, and the show does have to undergo as big an overhaul as to make it like a completely different beast.

Saw this on Pokebeach by way of Bulbapedia forums:

The designs are a lot more complex than usual. Some of them aren't bad, but they don't mesh very well with a lot of the older ones. :/

Also, on the topic of how the monsters are made: So, there's a team of people that is in charge of monster design.

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Staff_of_Pokémon_Red_and_Green

They're listed under "Pokemon Design." They come up with the ideas. They decide which ones are the best, and refine them. Then, Sugimori-san draws those designs. In the first gen, it was a group of four (Sugimori-san being one of them), and Tajiri-san's role in creating the monsters was basically to approve them, and suggest changes after the basic ideas were being designed. He's the only one under "Director" and "Game Design" which means that he was in charge of pulling everything together and the overall experience of playing the game.

Nowadays... well, the truth is that in R/S, Masuda-san took over. Ever since R/S/E, Tajiri-san has not been working on the games at all. He's listed as "Executive Director" in most games. What does this mean? "Ex. Director" is a fancy way of saying "this is the original creator, he approved this game but was not an active part of development." Occasionally he's listed as an "Ex. Producer" which, from what I can gather, means he funded it but was still not an active member in developing it. Finally, in Pokemon Rumble (surprisingly enough), only Sugimori-san and Masuda-san are listed in the credits as "advisors" for the spin-off game. Tajiri-san is not listed at all.

So, he's not really putting his mind into the monsters anymore. However, there is another part of why the monsters look different. The "Pokemon Design" of D/P/Pt was held by thirteen people. Ten of these people did not work on R/G's mons; Morimoto-san (he's the guy who put Mew into the game) also stopped doing monster design during D/P/Pt. What does this mean? The people coming up with the ideas are, mostly, different each Gen. R/S hired a ton of people, and that's why Gen III's style was so different. B/W has also hired more people (GF was recruiting graphic designers - remember? They're usually the ones in charge of monster design too) so the designs will be very different.

TLDR; version: The main reason why the B/W mons look weird is because the design team has some new people on it. Also, Tajiri-san hasn't worked on the games for a looooong time (G/S). Thus, the reason why Gen III and Gen IV looked so different from Gen I and Gen II. And now Gen V is going to be very different as well.

Interesting info, but the guy sounds like he's lamenting the changes we've seen in monster design from generation to generation. I personally welcome the new staff and look forward to how Pokemon design has been re conceptualized each game. I'm not saying I like all the B/W designs I've seen, but I'm more than willing to give them a chance.

I like having a team and new ideas. I like each generation having unique looks...

these three are ugly as shit. What the hell.

Green one is my favorite new one revealed so far. :D And I like the other two

I like how black Pokemon like Sneasel, Umbreon, and Claydol are black in manga.

Not that there's much of an option but it's nice to see their true color for once.

I like how the you can actually see the pokemon in the pokeballs in the manga, really emphasizes the pocket part. Cute touch!

The silhouette from the new anime girl looks like some kind of freakish alternate Chancey evolution... someone should draw that, taking the silhouette and turning it into a Pokemon, like they did with the starters. :P

I'm not sure if the green thing is ghost, BTW... it's... more like an amoeba or something, with little organelles inside of its gelatinous body.

Also, anyone else want to know about new evolutions of existing Pokemon? I'd like to be able to breed some, preferably Shiny, to evo ASAP.
