Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

Part of me wonders if this just means they're going to ditch the gym/master format of the games.
That'd be a change up I'd like to see implemented in gen 5. Lots of interesting ideas and potential for this game, that's why everyone is so excited :D

The guesses for the new pokemon seem highly likely. I'm personally hoping for a Sandslash evolution being introduced in gen 5.

What is this thing about two-legged or human-like being digimon?
I know very little about digimon so I don't know what the complaint 'means' but
Pokemon always weird and trippy with designs inspired by many different things.

Remember that Gen 1 had Jynx, MrMime, Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan but also goop like Muk, a pokeball named Electrode, and the polyhedron, porygon.
So I expect a similar smattering of different kinds of designs.
I don't know what's 'digimon' about that.

I hope they take a cue from DemiKids: Dark and Light version on the gba and let you ride on your lead Pokemon.
Or something to that effect.

Terrible poster confirmed.
He's a step up from you.

Get it? because his avatar is a Charmeleon!

Whether this thing is an evolution or not, I hope it is dark type. Tyranitar and Weavile must be lonely at the top...

I feel ashamed that a new Pokemon game can get me so excited like a little kid. At least its a bit justified this time round with promises of a new beginning. weeeeeee

don't worry, I'm sure a lot of people feel that way, they're just fairly unique as a franchise in that sense.

So does anybody remember the timeline for D/P information? Like, how long after we saw the first gen 4 pokemon was it until we got solid info about the actual game? And how long until we saw more pokemon?

As much as I'm anticipating seeing the full unveiling of this fucker, one design isn't nearly enough to see the direction the entire gen is going. And THAT is what will be the really fun part

I've got old Nintendo magazines from back in early 04 that talk about 'Gonbe', who we now know as Munchlax. I believe they first revealed the names 'Diamond and Pearl' at the same time as XD: Gale of Darkness made its Famitsu debut.

As I recall, Munchlax and Bonsly were known as early as 2005 and were even in Pokemon XD long before we knew other info about Diamond or Pearl.

Speaking of timelines I wonder will these games finally take place beyond the G/S era? Thanks to the remakes of the old games we know Gen 1 & 3 took place at roughly the same time and the same goes for Gen 2 & 4.

I hope so. Maybe we'll see more of Team Rocket. They're the only decent villians in the whole series, those Aqua/Magma and Galactic tards never had the balls to kill Pokemon...

Gen 2 and 4 take place at the same time? Don't you meet a gym leader from Gen 2 during D/P?

Gen 4 starts at around the same time the Red Gyarados appears in the lake in Gen 2. Gen 3 takes place at the same time as Gen 1 because... Fire Red and Leaf Green I think?

You guys noticed how Kanto is in every generation?

Yea, let's not go there again.

You shut your filthy mouth. I hope Gen 5 lets me hang out in Diglett's cave in the years since Wal-Poke-Mart has leveled Viridian Forest for their new mega-store effectively killing the economies of Pewter and Viridian cities.

According to Bulbapedia, the first gen 4 Pokemon to be revealed was Munchlax in May 2004. Lucario, Mime Jr, Weavile and Bonsly were revealed in a 2005 movie and the rest of the Pokemon were revealed or leaked in 2006.
However, with the game apparently being released in Japan this year, we'll know all the Pokemon a lot sooner.

Oh god, so much OP love in this thread. Go read seinen manga! Now THAT is quality stuff. :lol

Anyway why are people suddenly going all "dark" here? I think this is going to be Fighting.

Probably because it's a Pokemon that turns into an evil Ash doppelganger?

I'm sure, like with all Pokemon movies, the Pokemon is just misunderstood and trying to restore nature or something, but I think it's not unreasonable to expect it to be Dark or Ghost or one of the "evil" types based on what we know.

These kids coming in here talking about their love of a crappy Japanese kid's show while discussing their crappy Japanese kid's games and the crappier Japanese kid's show tie-ins.

It was confirmed that it was the same character? I always thought the doppleganger was a different character altogether.

Arcanine was considered a legendary for some reason in the 1st gen, but most people didn't even notice it. Things can't get much worse than that.

What? I know its cool, it was considered a legendary?
