Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

I believe one of its 1st gen pokedex descriptions called it a "legendary pokemon"

I had assumed Lucario was legendary until I actually played the game. I expect the new pokemon to be an evolution or alternate Lucario. Maybe the new fifth gen change is that all pokemon have multiple looks that age as the pokemon levels up.

It was confirmed that it was the same character? I always thought the doppleganger was a different character altogether.
He is the "master of illusion" or something so its likely just one of his tricks.

No it can't, Psychic attacks are ineffective on Dark.
They could make the dark one part something else thats effective.

OMGZ PROBLY SUM SECRET FING THAT NO ONE CAN KNOW. SOMETHING TO DO WITH PANDORAS BOXXXXXXX

no srsly, no idea. but yeh i think this being mightyenas evo would be too 'epic' to be honest, as well as a very odd choice for a first revealed new gen pokemon. im just guessing its something legendary or at least not related to any of the previous 4 gens.

Makes no sense at all, but his species as labeled as "Legendary Pokemon" and some Pokedex entries call it legendary in their description (IIRC, Yellow's). It doesn't have stats of real legendaries nor is even included with them in any official listings though. It just seems like a discarded concept that somehow made it to the final game.

reading the "you won't believe this is a pokemon game" comment is making it obvious that even the designers are starting to realize they need to overhaul the entire way the game works. Don't get me wrong, I love the turn-based aspects and the variety of strategies that are made, but ever since the fourth gen, the amount of UU pokemon has become freightening and this stupid solution of "we'll give the weaker pokemon an evoluition" is just retarded. And there are many problems relating to type:

1: Poison Attacks are only super effective against plant types. Which is retarded when you take into account all the Plant/Poison pokemon
2: Very few fire types and Ice types.
3: Too many water types.
4: Few dragon combos, ghost combos, (nonflying) normal combos, and electric combos

They would have to add 2 types to make an interesting trio that doesn't use Fire, Grass, or Water.
I could see them doing:
Water, Electric, New
Fire, Ice, New

Doesn't Ground, Rock, Ice work? Or Fighting, Rock, Flying? Though they probably might not be suitable for early game or as introductory Pokemon.

New starters should be Psychic, Dark and Fighting types, IMO.

EDIT: Survivor, get out of my mind now :lol

In any case, I always considered that the 1st gen trio is broken, since Blastoise can manage to use Ice, he can blow both Grass and Fire.

Problem is that rock is lame. >_>

My pick is Ice/Flying/Fighting. :D

Isnt that every water starter? Feraligatr could do the same.

Psychic beats Fighting
Fighting beats Dark
Dark beats Psychic

It could work, but personally, I like having an elemental triangle at the beginning versus a whatever triangle. I am starting to get my hopes up this will be a reboot of the series. The whole "this is Pokemon!?" quote and the poster going full circle are both very good signs. Who knows? Maybe for once they realize they can cater to higher levels of play and drag casuals along for the ride.

No, because Charizard is a Fire/Flying pokemon...

Think he meant every water starter can use some form of ice attack. It's not restricted to first gen.

Pokemon Azure and Crimson kthnx

I always figured they used Fire/Water/Grass as the starters because you don't run across those until a bit into the game. It makes them, er, "special." Well, Fire and Water anyway, but they probably threw in Grass to balance them out.

I WOULD absolutely love a Psychic/Dark/Fighting trio with a brand new set of Pokemon and a new world. Something that is all inclusive. I don't want to have to get Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed and LeafGreen just to complete the Pokedex.

You know this would make much more sense if it was made for DS2. But since it's gonna come out for the DS, I don't know how much they can change if the game's graphics will stay the same. Though I really expect them to completely change at least one aspect of the game, whether it's the story or battle mechanics I don't know.

And graphics hold back change because?

Well I always imagine if they gonna completely overhaul the game, they will do it on a new system and new style of graphics. Though that's just me.

Im betting DSi exclusive. Nintendo wasn't afraid to to try it with Crystal.

Why would nintendo alienate approximately 40million+ ds (ds phat and ds lite) users? In other words, would you say no to 40 million customers?

Edit: And nintendo wasn't afraid to try it with crystal because the dough already came in for gold/silver. In other words, they could afford the drop in sales. Moreover, there were substantial differences between the gbpocket and the gameboy color. Nintendo was trying to move from black and white to color. Nintendo really isn't try to transition customers from the DSlite to the DSi, hence why the dslite is still being sold in stores.

Saw this on Pokebeach:

It is important to note that in our previous story, we assumed that the new Pokemon silhouette was "Z" when it could in fact be a completely different Pokemon. Because Pokemon Sunday said they were going to reveal "Z's" identity on their February 21st show and then later stated they would be revealing the new Pokemon's silhouette at that time as well, we figured both Pokemon were the same. However, it is possible that the two revelations are for two different Pokemon - "Z" and the new Pokemon silhouette. In reviewing the episode, it is also never explicitly stated that the Pokemon silhouette is "Z." Therefore, we could be dealing with two new Pokemon!

FWIW

I would say a Pokemon Zoids cross over is just as likely.

Seriously you freaks are looking way to into this.

I never said that would be a likely scenario, just what would be the ideal thing for me.

it is rumored but who knows
Well, the original announcement said it would be for the DS but it could probably get some kind of enhancements assuming the successor to the DS is revealed this year. You never know though.

Come one, let people have their fun. New Pokemon game is serious business. (Seriously, it's like the second largest video game franchise in the world)

*edit*

I really hope it is for the DS and not the DSi, not that I wouldn't want to see what the DSi could do, but stupid Nintendo has region locked the machine, and I plan on importing.

GSC didn't have a new style of graphics compared to RBY.

Um, the next Pokemon's name is NOT Pokemon Z. It's just that the title of the movie (Pokemon: Illusion Ruler Z) was used as a logo upon showing that mystery pic. Trust me, I committed the same mistake. XP

Not sure if anyone posted this but:
500x_corocoro.jpg

3 thoughts come to mind:
1. Gotta be 5th gen.
2. Yay! We'll know next week.
3. Boo! that Pokemon looks retarded
Bonus: Is that an evolution of Lucario?

I expect the new game to be closer in terms of story to what can be found in the Pokémon Special manga.

That'd still amount to 0 damage, just like Charizard's weakness to ground is nullified by its Flying type.
