The trainers are all right, the girl's design is far superior as usual. I wish they'd have a wider variety of avatar selections though, it would be nice to have a few adult characters to chose from.

I'm pretty pleased with this set of starters. I like all the designs.

Fire/Dark would make sense considering the colouring... buuuttt Pokemon designs have been less about colour coded Pokemon now, so just because it has black parts doesn't mean it's going to be a Dark type. I mean, Infernape has red, white, yellow AND blue parts so he could've been any bloody combination of elements based on that logic.
Considering he's a pig (and based on Swinub/Piloswine/Mamoswine), I'd say he'll be Fire/Ground. If you lot are going to suggest similarly shitty combinations for the Grass starter let me do the same with SomethingOinkful over here.

They're all terrible. But I'm not shocked by that at all. Ever since gen 3 I've had absolutely no high expectations towards the starters turning out decently. None.
It's a toss up between the Pig and the Lizard for me though(not touching that Clown-Otter piece of crap.. 1'st stage water starters have been getting screwed hard since gen 3. ugh). I can definitely see the Pig having an epic 3'rd evolution. A bulky Fire/Ground Fire/Dark boar with tusks and shit... I'm totally game for that.
I really like the Protagonists too. Gen 3 and 4 were so terrible I'm surprised by how good these turned out hoenstly.
The battle screen looks good. The flamethrower animation looks like it will be pretty decent. Hopefully all the moves get upgraded animations.

This game will be the greatest Pokemon game of all time if they just get rid of HM's and fix the PC. I don't know why they don't allow you to select pokemon in your PC BOX like you can when selecting pokemon for the Pokeathalon. And I've never had a 6 Pokemon rotation during the main story in my entire life thanks to those fucking HM's.

For the first 3 generations Water got an amazing looking starter (although the first gen, they all looked cool). Let it have 2 generations, let Grass (who usually has the weak designs imo) get his cool looking snake with arms, and happy little piggy.

4 legged thing, low to the ground: Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Mudkip, Turtwig, Piggy
Upright With Lean Body: Charmander, Totodile, Treeko, Chimchar, Grass Snake
Upright With Fat Body: Squirtle, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Piplup, Otter Guy
I mean, Mudkip and Piggy have identical poses in their official art. The otter has Piplup's body and the grass thing looks like a Charmander/Treeko hybrid.
