Can't say I like any of them. Gen 4 > Gen 1 > Gen 2 > Gen 3 >= Gen 5 in terms of starters.

I came for the nerd rage, but I'm surprised to see how many people like the new starters.

Personally I am not particularly impressed, but the grass and water type are slowly growing on me. That pig better turn into some badass uber boar or I will be sad.

I've been a fire starter guy since Gen 1. The Charmander line is still my favourite line of starters. Gen 2 rolls around, and Cyndaquil is allright, but nothing compared to Charmander. I choose him anyways.

Gen 3 rolls around, and I had a hard time choosing the fire starter that was literally a chick. Luckily, Blaziken was a huge badass. I ended up liking the Torchic line more than the Cyndaquil line.

Gen 4 comes, and the fire starter is a monkey. That's an improvement from a freaking chick, but it's still no Charmander. Regardless, I choose him. Infernape is pretty badass, so once again I'm happy with the fire starters.

So, all in all, I've been fine with the fire starters until now (with the slight exception of Gen 2). With Torchic, I've already been introduced to a starter that looks like a complete pussy, but ends up evolving into something truly badass. I really hope this is the case of gen 5, because that pig looks like shit. I can't help but shake the feeling that his evolved form is going to look like this:
