Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

I was thinking this might be the first non-Japan Pokemon title. Would fit the older characters and that sure looks like a western city.

It's also an excuse to have very different Pokemon and areas :) What Pokemon would live in a large canyon or *insert american land type that Japan doesnt have here*?

That's really a great idea. Just imagine areas that would take place in an American setting:

Where was Orre supposed to be set? That was basically a deserted wasteland.

Yeah, he only said that after the first volume released . . . it went down hill since then and its lame this gen. :/

Hopefully gen 5 changes this.

That city does have a New York vibe to it. But I still think they will set it in Japan, maybe around Shikoku. That area has a lot of large bridges, and Pokemon is surprisingly accurate when it comes to relating real locations to in game locations.

I guess, but he was actually talking about the universe he had in his mind when creating Pokemon, not necesarally just about the game universe. Still, Volume 1 is the best.

Back Bacon's done, here's the first two along with a revision so that both have the default black and white colors, I before eye-dropped the black and white color that was in the screen for Smugleaf, but decided that it's easier to just use the default colors. I also fixed Smugleaf's foot, back, and tail:

Edit: Done Wotter.

I found an interesting GIF while browsing:

It's a link of the screenshots of the event battle between Raikou and Zoroark. It seems to show a bit of idle animation and one attack animation.
<3 Best game confirmed

I made a little adjustment to the tail ball thing.

A very appropriate edit, but the way I have it seems to be how it's "supposed" to look, as every source of that shot has it like that.

Either that's a goof on GF's part, or who the hell knows. :/

Entei sprite seems to be the same one from Diamond and Pearl.

I won't mind the reused sprites if it means extra frames of animation. Plus the back sprites are brand new.

One last revision on the sprites above; I changed the black to what it is on the 4th Gen sprites from Bulbapedia. So now when you paste into MS Paint, the background being black won't blend with the black of the sprites.

I don't know how I feel about the textures on the ground here.

Also... what is that red thing? A Slugma?

Grass can be cut to look like that actually.
And considering that's an urban area, maybe it was.

:lol
are you really defending grass that looks like someone drew on a shit load of paper with green and yellow colored pencils then laid them on the ground

It's a checkerboard lawn a tells ya!
The guy's from the sticks where it just grows wild...lol
Gass textures can't be that bad by acccident.

This might be a placeholder. I doubt they even care about it being shown to the public all that much.

I didn't know sprites were a secretive thing.

Seriously though, I don't think they went to all the trouble to put in a sprite that won't be in the final game. Especially for such an important pokemon.

Well, they've used beta sprites before in prerelease screenshots for previous Pokémon games. E.g.: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_Diamond_and_Pearl_beta

Then again, who knows? It's likely they'll reuse the DPPtHGSS sprites and draw off them for the movement.

Yeah, it's probably a beta thing. I doubt Gamefreak would reuse D/P/Pt/HG/SS sprites in the final project. This is a new gen, afterall. I mean the sprite used when Entei got "hit" was part of his D/P introductory animation so it's probably just some beta thing to show off in screenshots of the concept.

All I want to see is the battles in action. I want to see how "fluid" the attacks actually look.

When I get to school in the morning I'm gonna make a Gen 5 version of my Pikachu sprite animation because of them putting in actual animation into the battles!
:D

(Not gonna be using it for a long time . . . )

Thinking about replacing Barry with the new male trainer.

Maybe closer to release and maybe after we see who the rival is.

Something tells me the rival will have black hair . . . IDK why, just seems right. :/

On a side note I wish they would use the starters as the box characters again! If they go along their color themes than there should be a fully evolved starter that could fit "white (Otter)" and "Black (Pig)". The grass starter could gain a "gray" color by the time its fully evolved. :D

Edit: If you don't want to see LOST SPOILER, then don't highlight it. I am not sure if it is spoiler or not since it was announced on hulu.

Fuck! I highlighted it. Ah well, it's not a HUGE deal.

Pretty obvious that the 'Klonoa ears' are supposed to be stylized pockets hanging out the bottom of her cut offs.

Yah, that's what I thought when I saw them, and they are dumb. D:
It's her biggest design flaw. Probably the other annoying one are those "antennae" strands on top of her already-puffy ponytail.

Don't really like any of the starters this gen. I think I'd like the pig more if it's eyes were different and it didn't look like it was wearing a black diaper.

Exciting aesthetic changes though! back animations and 3D, panoramic locations!

I haven't played Pokemon since R/S, so maybe will hop in again this generation!

I'd like to think that there are "normal" versions of the legendary Pokémon. Kind of like Manaphy and Phione. Or like Raikou/Entei/Suicune without all the ornamentation. I guess I don't really like how Pokémon are portrayed as animals, and then there are Pokémon that control time and space and create worlds. I know they're supposed to be myths, but they're treated as real. It would be nice if the so-called legendaries didn't quite live up to the legend.

There's generally three types of legendaries:

1) Strong but catchable, like Lugia/Ho-Oh and pretty much every coverart monster, along with some like Rotom or Rayquaza
2) Normal stats but super rare and special, like Celebi or Manaphy or Jirachi
3) Super rare with excessive stats, like Arceus

I don't watch Lost, but I do find it really funny how the warning's after the spoiler.

To be honest, I wouldn't actually mind if they reused sprites, if they were animated. Actually, I sometimes wonder how Game Freak's small team does all 493 (now maybe something like 550) sprites, plus their animations, all within a year or so.
