This is good too because it means they'll give every monster a practical battle pose/idle animation. Some of the previous, static poses were just too silly or fanciful.
 
When Raikou is about to launch his attack there seems to be a growl effect that doesn't really remind me of the current "8-bit" style cries. I originally thought he said "Rai" and thought they were going to start saying their names, but on listening to it again it just sounds like a "grah" style growl. :lol

I hadn't even thought about them updating the battle cries along with the animations, but it seems like they're going to be of a higher quality this time.

It looks really good, and it's far more animated than I had been expecting. Nice work, Gamefreak!

Funny how I focused on the music first. But yeah the standby animation is pretty cool.

I wonder if it changes based on their status...?

Yeah, I couldn't hear it at first but he does make a "Gerrh" like sound . . .and I have no clue as to how his name is said in JPN but I know that wasn't some 8-bit noise!

Oh wow. :lol Guess they are going to go with animated sprites. Nice! I never thought they'd go with it. Glad I was wrong.

It seems okay I guess... Not the best quality animation but any kind of dynamic movement for the fights is better than nothing. They have nifty little extra idle anims I noticed along with their typical ones.

What is that move Raikou uses on Entei?
 
I never want pokemon to say their name. It's completely ridiculous, even for a universe where 10 year olds consistently take town organized crime with birds, rocks, and black stereotypes.

I don't think any of the legendary Beast trio say their name as a cry, they just growl/roar/meow/woof/oink/whinny/etc.

As long as I can name this games version of Red -my rival- enemy whatever "Emo Bob" to keep up tradition, I will be ok.
 
Actually y'know, the more I watch it the less impressed I am with the idle anims. Raikou in particular is annoying me; there's just some kind of amateur Flash quality animation to it from the back. I hope this is improved by the time the game is released, because Entei's and Zoroark's anims are both quite decent (and I'm going to assume that will be the case with all the opponent Pokemon you fight, as the smaller size disguises this a bit.)

Dynamic camera is a win in my book though. Yay!
 
Actually A LOT better than I expected, impressed!!! Even though it's only a few frames, it makes everything seem more lively. See a lot of people are disappointed, but I guess my expectations weren't that high to begin with in concerns with the battle animations anyway. Too bad no animation for taking damage, probably saving that for the third game...

Well he was running down the middle of the street while other people walked (continuously) in the other direction. Those in his way moved to the side, and then dialog showed up in the corner (he was still running during all this), so I assume he pushed them aside and they yelled at him. We'll see when it eventually shows up on YouTube.
