Yeah, you guys weren't lying. Onix does not fuck about. Doesn't feel as hard as Mega Glalie though, and disruption delay would probably make it a cakewalk.
Managed 15,700th in the contest in the end, US version, and didn't need to use items so that was pretty aces.

Froakie is a fucking bullet sponge.
I'd expect that from Blissey, but not from freaking Froakie.
Kind of annoying that they're not like what you expect them... I mean, having a Froakie being harder than quite a few other evolved Pokemon is weird.

I didn't have too much trouble with Onix. Finished him with 3 moves left and caught him! (only got a B rank though). I used Mega Lucario, Donphan, Bronzong and Klefki. Klefki and Bronzong's Rock Bash is incredibly helpful against his vertical disruptions. Then have Mega Lucario clean them up

For people complaining about the difficulty, it really takes a drop after Froakie.
The ten battles following it and leading to Milotic are actually quite easy.

Oh well. Least I've been able to S-rank some of the new stages, so hopefully those will count.

I S-ranked 5 of the new batch, not including Onix, no problem at all, so you should get a result.

I just one-turned it right now.
Not sure if it works all the time, but
just make a T shape in the bottom left or bottom right corner and half the stage should fall apart.

I'm having some success with Jolteon. It has Mega Boost, so matching it counts towards Ampharos' evolution.
I can confirm that the new stages count. EX-20 was unlocked for me even though I have a few stages not S-ranked from the first 151 levels.
Ah! that's a good idea. I failed to catch Jolteon so I should go back and do that. Cheers!

After that, I admit I got lucky with a chain of 2 Ampharos matches which cleared pretty much all the ice blocks on top of the board.

Earliest I managed to evolve Ampharos was at move 10. I didn't even get close to beating the stage, though, so 2 turns probably wouldn't have made a difference.
Yeah, got S-ranks on 154 & 156, probably will go back to Smeargle since I just need 1 more S-rank to reach 150.
Also, guessing S-ranks in EX stages don't count since I have one for EX1.
I guess I should point out, it's rather surreal to see all these Pokemon I've never seen before, considering I stopped playing mainstream Pokemon after Gold/Silver on GBC, though I'll check out some of the spin-offs from time to time.
