Police Arrest 8-Year-Old After Alleged Outburst in Williamsburg Elementary School

(AP) - James City County Police arrested an eight-year-old boy who allegedly had a violent outburst in school.

Authorities say he head-butted his teacher and kicked an assistant principal when he was told he couldn't go outside to play with other students.

The four-foot pupil was led away from Williamsburg's Rawls Byrd Elementary School in handcuffs Tuesday and charged with disorderly conduct and assault and battery.

Major Stan Stout says the student began tossing chairs and turning over desks after a teacher - and later the assistant principal - tried to stop him from joining his classmates.

The child was later released to his parents.

i say arrest the dumb ass parents.

Teach your kids some manners people. A temper tantrum here and there is ok but this is just ridiculous.

I can't believe they cuffed the kid, that's just stupid. An 8 year old throwing a violent temper tantrum is not a sign of the degredation of our society nor is it arrestable material.

Suspension, detention, expulsion, whatever, but not handcuffs and criminal charges.

edit: unless the teacher and prinicpal were "little people." Then they may have rightfully felt endangered.

If the kid was all hyper and uncontrollable then it is better that the police come in and do what they have to do. What are the teachers and principle going to do?

My aunt is an elementary school teacher that works with emotionally disturbed children. Specifically, she works with violent kids.

A few years ago, a kid started kicking her, and she put her hands up to defent herself, and he broke her wrist. She needed pins in it and everything. I'd have arrested the kid, but they didn't, to my understanding.

They've got a new principal there now though, and he doesn't put up with that kind of shit. A month ago, a kid punched her in the mouth and busted her lip up, and the principal had him arrested.

Did the kid deserve it? Fuck yes.

Would I have done the same? In a heartbeat.

I'd like to assume you were joking, but just in case...

If an 8 year old forces you to call the police, then you suck at being an adult.

Are you talking to me?

I'm certainly not joking.

My aunt had to teach kids who come from homes with drugged out parents, and parents who steal the kids' calming medication for themselves.

The kids are violent, and they're emotionally disturbed. If a kid assaults a teacher and hurts them, it's the teacher's fucking fault? "Oh it's OK, Jonny. You just broke my wrist. Go play with the other children now." - Fuck that.

edit: dunno if you added in the quote as I was making my post, or if I missed it the first time, but you weren't talking to me.

no, I wasn't talking to you.

But yeah, I'd say if you let an 8 year old hurt you, you suck.

Ecro,

How old was the kid that hurt your aunt? Also, my comments were not in reference to emotionaly disturbed children. I'd assume this kid in the article was at a general public school.

If you can't handle a violent 8 year old your in the wrong line of work. The idiocy of people amaze me. The kid is fucking 8 years old! A teacher or principle that has to call the cops to deal with an 8 year old should be fired.

Maybe you'd like to sit in my aunt's class sometime.

I've worked with emotionally disturbed teenagers, so again, I can't see the logic in arresting an 8 year old short of possession and use of a weapon.

You guys are underestimating kids these days, even if they are eight years old they can still be pretty fucked up. The fact the kid was eight years old is exactly why it difficult to control him. What are you going to do huh? Put your hands on him and man handle him? Punch him in the face? Kick him in the ribs? I would like to hear what you would do.

It would have been awesome if police in full-blown riot gear burst through the classroom doors and took him out.

Right, what are you going to do with the kid? Put your hands on him? Tie him up and put him in the closet? Anything you do, you're setting yourself up to get the pants sued off you. Calling the police is the most responsible option if you're dealing with a child who is causing people physical harm and won't stop. In our litigation-happy society, anyway.

And let's also remember that for the other kids in the class it was probably the best day of school ever.

EDIT: or is GAF's solution that the teacher should have had sex with the kid?

"Saturated fat causes heart disease as much as Brawndo is what plants crave."
Yep. Clearly this kid is beyond the innocent age of 7 years and 8 months. Abort that overgrown fetus ASAP.

This reminds me of a kid in grade/middle school (private school). He was a well known hyperactive trouble maker, but one morning he somehow he got a hold of a jump rope in the morning (they're for recess and lunch breaks only) and started to run around while whipping people with it. No one could stop him because... WTF are you supposed to do to a 5 year old to make him stop while he's wildly lashing out with the rope? It was mostly just students waiting for classes to begin and there were no teachers around. Then he comes up from behind on some kid twice his size who isn't paying attention, uses the rope as a garrotte and drags the poor choking kid down. With the rope finally entangled a teacher comes to take the rope away and the kid was sent to the office to wait for his parents.

It's one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen at school.
