Who the fuck takes a selfie in front of a burning house.
Neighbor Emma Zaccarini told NBC New York that she does not believe the officers should be punished, because they helped her get out of her home. The 86-year-old woman who uses a wheelchair lives next door to the house that caught fire.
Yep, if you're in uniform and/or on duty, you should be held to a higher standard. Other PDs being pieces of shit about worse things doesn't matter. The police isn't a monolithic hivemind. That said, I doubt there would be this much of a backlash if there wasn't video evidence of the incident publicized. It was definitely unprofessional and there should be punishment. Yes, they did their job, but there is no reason for this kind of action. You're a professional, act accordingly.
Probably the first cop article on GAF that doesn't cause my blood to boil.
They helped an 86-year-old woman out of her home and had no protective gear and, you know, aren't firemen. What else were they supposed to do? (Yes, I know: not take a selfie in front of a burning building.)
As long as their job was done who cares
Still pretty silly though and they'll probs face consequences
Ironic how taking selfies gets you a bigger punishment than cold-blooded murder
It's not professional, but some of you should seek help for anger issues.

Enzom? You mean enzom yea?
BRB, adding selfies to the list of things more important than Black Lives
I am surprised this wasn't in the first page.
But the very people who lost their home told NBC 4 New York they're a law enforcement family and don't think the officers did anything wrong.
The homeowner, an NYPD sergeant, told NBC 4 New York Friday, "I'm not taking any offense. I'm not offended at all by this."
Next-door neighbor Emma Zaccarini added that the picture doesn't tell the whole story. The 86-year-old woman in a wheelchair said that moments before the selfie, the two officers helped her escape her home next to the one on fire.
Asked if she thought they should be punished, she responded, "For what? For doing their job? For being kind to an old lady?"
Some people in here really need to control their anger.
Some of you would explode in a seething rage if you heard what medical personnel sometimes say when someone dies. Or mortuary employees.
These cops saved a life, their duties were done as they were not equipped to help any further. Was it unprofessional? Yes. Does it deserve punishment? A slap on the wrist, at the most.
Not cool. You can even see one smirking/smiling. Its all good that you saved someone, but don't just stand there looking smug for a photo. Jesus Christ, get back in your car, call for help and stay put.
I hope they get fired.
Umm they knocked on the neighbors door and told her she should probably leave her house. omg heroes. They saved a life. That should be the story, not this shit.
They could crack open a champaign bottle and pop some party streamers in front of that house for all I care
I got arrested at a DUI checkpoint for driving on a suspended license, and I had a gang of empty bottles in my trunk that I meant to throw out, and all the officers took the empty bottles out and lined them all on top of my car from the trunk to the roof to the hood, and they all took turns making various poses and taking pictures. LOL
Joke post right?
Joke post right?
It's pretty inconsiderate to the homeowner, but its not a HUGE deal if there was nothing else they could do.
How does the selfie cause any damage to anyone or anything? Quantify the harm here, either by commission or omission. I'll wait.I hope emergency personnel takes a selfie picture of their house on fire if it ever happens.
