Police want to photograph teen's penis in "sexting" case

This is so fucking stupid. If this doesn't prompt a really long look at the existing "sexting" laws, I don't know what will. That a kid can be indicted for child porn for exchanging nudes with his gf is absurd on every level. That the prosecutors need matching photographic evidence (instead of, I dunno, searching for the source file, tracing the text message/email logs of both parties, or something equally banal done in every day police work) in order to positively identify his penis just seems like an idea that someone through out at the bar as a goof and got picked up by a moronic supervisor.

A few thoughts:

1. The guy above that said this sounds like a south park episode... you are so right. Something this crazy and stupid is exactly what I'd expect to see in a South Park Episode.

2. They want to create child pornography (by taking a pic of his erect penis) in order to find the boy they took a picture of... of producing child pornography? Am I getting that right?

3. I do find it stupid how you can be put on the sex offender registry for doing dumb shit as a child. You take a 'naughty' pic or a vid of yourself without anyone knowing and if someone finds it, your entire life can be ruined. Sure I saw some articles about this a while back. It's just so stupid. :/

Again though, this is something I would expect to see in South Park, not in real life.

So like, if they inject him, are they going to restrain him so that he can't cover it up and take pictures?

So they'd be making underage non-consensual bondage porn so that they can arrest him for having taken a picture of his own dingdong?

Jesus Sexting Christ I thought we were done with this shit. Two teens showing their junk to each other is not going to destroy the world like these fucks seem to think. Tell them to stop because it's technically child porn and then move on to other things that are actually harmful crimes.

Wait wait wait

So a 15 year old girl sends pictures of herself to a 17 year old boy who sends a video of himself. The mother finds this out and calls the police? And that's the case?

What. The. Fuck?

there is so much wrong with this case its not even funny, but its still funny.

You have the dumb mom who cant just let shit be.
You have the dumb police who dont dismiss the case.
You have the dumb possible sexist police who dont inform the mother that her own daughter could be charged with the same crime.
You have the dumb police that ALREADY created their own child porography by photographing the males genitals, and want to do it more by forcing an erection on him.

Where is there someone in this to say, you know this is ridiculous. Besides the defense attorney obviously.

Why is the boy persecuted for the video in the first place? Weren't they sexting consensually if the girl sent pics of her first? Also, isn't taking pictures of a minor's genitalia against their will considered sexual exploitation? America, please...

Meanwhile, let's praise octogenarian celebs for dating people who could be their grand kids.

I wouldn't think they'd need anything special to give him an erection. I mean, he is a teenage male after all. Just wait five minutes or so and you'll get your result.

This is...erm...what?

Too far society, too far.

Also, apparently by today's standards, I broke the law ALOT as a teenager.

This case is also a disgusting example of sexism against males. No way they would have even considered taking pictures of the girl if they had gone after her and they are just assuming all the blame is on this boy when it was the girl who seems to have started the whole thing.

They should be thrown in jail for even considering the whole forced erection bullshit.

Please report to your nearest hospital posthaste. CSI team is going to have to use their de-aging reconstruction software for this case.

If I were the boy's parent I would press charged against the girl. Because that would be the only way to get back at the girl's mother for ruining a life for no good reason.

They are both juvenile. Kids will be kids, throw the case out and sign them up for a class about the troubles of sexting. Ridiculous how far this case has progressed.

You also need to arrest these officers for production of child pornography. They've already photographed a minor against his will.

If I were the boy's parent, I'd press charges against the police for taking pictures of the kids penis against his will.

This is a very clear case of following the letter of the law, and ignoring the spirit.

Actually, I don't even think they are following the letter of the law here - because what the fuck. If this person is a child, and thus taking pictures of him constitutes child porn, what the fuck does forcing a child against his will to be put into a medically induced state of arousal, and then photographed constitute?

You would want to ruin the life of your son's girlfriend who has done no wrong because her parent is an asshat?

Tortuous sexual assault of a minor with intent to produce child pornography. Life in prison please.

State-sanctioned rape of a minor? That's the closest thing I can think of.

I'd say arrest the entire department, but this is so fucked yup you might as well nuke the county from orbit.

I can't even at this point

Doesn't matter. The 17-year-old is being charged for creating child pornography, ie by photographing his own penis. The girl only matters in so far as her mother filed the complaint. Taking a picture of your own body as a teenager is a serious crime which will put you on the sex offender registry for life.
.

How utterly ridiculous.

So instead of focusing on actual pedophiles/predators and their networks, these people want to penalize some random teen by giving him an erection against his own will and take pictures of it?

That's it, i'm done. You've officially jumped the shark, America.

Tough on crime culture and for profit prisons!

It sure is a hell of a lot easier. I mean, actual pedophiles who trade child pornography use tor and freenet and proxies and shit. Do you realize how hard that stuff is to track? Nah, that'd take a metric fuckton of effort. But you gotta convict someone for child pornography production. Prisons don't fill themselves.

The boy can become a registered sex offender for this and probably won't be able to get a decent paying job ( one that does background checks ) for the rest of his life. Poor kid.

Foster asked how that would be accomplished and was told that “we just take him down to the hospital, give him a shot and then take the pictures that we need.”

Whoever thought up this process should be in a mental institution or prison.

You get just as fucked up news from america as you would get from some backwater tribal justice cases. Fucking nutjobs.

So it's only child porn if a child takes the picture himself, but police can do it as much as they want? Yeah, this all makes complete sense.
