When does the light bulb nazism go into effect? I just bought a 65 watt flood light replacement bulb and this white light nonsense will not stand. I found a guy to sell me a pallett of ge floods but I might get more depending on when it starts. Is it 2012 or 2013?

Can't wait to peddle black market light bulbs!

The only thing more silly than conservatives losing their shit about that is liberals who pretend that CFLs are just as good as the earthkiller bulbs.

I'm not losing my shit, I just hate the way these supposed replacements look. I will, however, profit off others losing their shit.

Protest bulbs at tea party events will be huge sellers!

Hey guys, it could be worse. Like, having no government for 404 days and counting....or having a period of over 6 years with no functioning government at all... and still letting all politicians take a vacation for a month because they're "so tired" of the negotiations..

I, as a Belgian, laugh at your minuscule governing hiccup....
(but could you please still fix this and just raise the damn debt ceiling. Thanks! sincerely, rest of world.)

As a democrat, anything that doesn't include tax revenue, at the least closing loopholes, and at best (although this shouldn't be an 'at best' case) cutting the Bush tax cuts on the rich, isn't a compromise. This thing hasn't been a compromise from the start. It started in the center-right and has been going more and more right since.

Hate the direction this country is headed.

I'm finding it harder and harder to cope living in this country as an American knowing just how fucked this government is and whats in the future.

Never thought I'd feel so Socialist.

How are people coping with this?

CFLs are better than incandescent bulbs in most ways. Not as good in a few ways by certain subjective standards.

But it is a moot point since you will still be able to buy incandescent bulbs that look and act almost exactly the same. . . . Halogen bulbs.

But hey, let's not let reality get in the way of a manufactured hysteria about "light bulb nazism". Perhaps a brave freedom fighter will arise to take on this new great threat to our culture.

Don’t like CFL bulbs but still want to have efficient lighting? Good news for you, a new incandescent bulb has arrived. The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA 2007), signed by President Bush, requires a 25% increase over the efficiency of the standard incandescent light bulb. This will affect the 100W incandescent bulbs first beginning in January, 2012. A large number of exceptions are written into the law to exclude specialty bulbs.

The incandescent bulb, largely unchanged for over 120 years, was long overdue for improvements. Fortunately halogen lamps, an improved type of incandescent lamp, have now been repackaged as a replacement for the standard incandescent light bulb. The new bulb doesn’t have the high temperatures and handling issues that are normally associated with halogen lamps and it does have some advantages. CFL bulbs are still a better choice for an efficient light bulb in most applications. However, the Philips Halogena bulb seems to be the best direct replacement so far. Weighing in at 70 watts instead of 100 watts, the energy savings makes this bulb a better deal than the standard incandescent bulb. The Philips Halogena bulb is available at St. Louis area Home Depot stores.

I couldn't find soft lighting on any of the flood style lights I need. Just the bright white, which I think looks atrocious in the house. Once they make those (assuming my pallet runs out) I will buy them.

I'm not fringe. And yes, we are and empire. We have military bases all over the world. We currently mame and kill people from all over the world.
You're the definition of fringe. Here's an idea, if you want to talk about secession, start your own fucking thread, rather than dropping in every couple of days, posting an asinine statement, and then running away when someone challenges you. If you've been juniored underneath that tag, I'll gladly start the thread for you, if you promise to keep it over there.

And it's maim, not mame. Unless you mean we install arcade emulators around the world.

What a joke. Every time people talk about those light bulbs you always hear "but but but they light like neons!!", which is bullshit. Read the package, it says the kind of lighting on it. I replaced all my lights years ago and it has the same exact warmth as before.

Honestly, fuck it at this point. As of this moment, I just hope whatever deal Obama strikes with the Reps doesn't effect me personally, as a 26 year old college student.

Student loans and pell grants will be okay, right?

...right? :(

Just depends on how expendable Dems think you are as a voter. Seeing as how they've been more likely to chide their own base in the past than fight for it...

I'm with you. Same age and position. Without the loans /grants I won't be attending school this semester. Frightening. And I'm so close to completion. To think the leaders of this country could give two shits about its people is horrifying..

A niche secession movement, really niche (I myself only found out about it when I stumbled across a Wikipedia article). It isn't even remotely comparable to the secessionist movements of say, Quebec.

Nah, he'd still win since there isn't a Republican candidate worth putting in the White House who isn't batshit insane.

Mitt Romney.

Seems like the dam is finally busting. Voters like Obama, but his record seems non-existent. The economy is cratering, people have given him 3 years to get something done to no results. Game over.

He'd make a good Senator. As a President he's more or less worthless. Presidents lead, Presidents don't mediate.

They rejected a bill they haven't even read, how can any conservative voter seriously think that the Republican party is being reasonable?

What else can Obama cave on? He gave everything away with his first offer. The only thing left is Pell Grants, and even I don't think he'll give up that. House Dems sure as hell wouldn't sign on to a bill eliminating Pell Grants.

Remember the chart from last night? They don't want reasonable representatives, they want unwavering ones.
