Presidential candidates have always released their tax returns. There has never been a candidate for President who has been told s/he needs to release speeches delivered as a private citizen.

Give me a broad band of student loan forgiveness -- like for everyone that graduated 2004-2012 -- and I'll give you an exploding economy. Single biggest issue for an entire generation and will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

We can't just bank on a Hillary victory but at this point the focus should all go to the congressional races. They may try to lock her down worse than Obama. No justice submissions, shutting down the government and just doing everything they can to tank her term.

We need majority movement big time.

This will depend on how badly trump loses. If trump loses in a landslide or loses really badly I expect the more moderate republicans to work with her on things that won't be that much of a problem for them.

If you've already paid yours off then you were not overburdened by tuition (via your parents, local funding, etc) or didn't have hampered success in your chosen field due to technological, economic, or socioeconomic forces. Meaning if you are suffering economically at this minute it's not because you're carrying student loans.

It's kinda like asking "me too?" if you have a job and are wondering why people get unemployment.

So? I took out student loan debt in the period you specified. Just because I happen to have already paid mine off means not only do I get no relief from that debt (money that was used to pay it back could have been used to further pad my retirement savings for example), on top of having my taxes put into a program to fund this relief.

Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto met for lunch Wednesday with families who live in the shadow of deportation, drawing parallels between their stories and her own family's immigrant roots.

The Democratic former Nevada attorney general met at Lindo Michoacan Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas with immigration activists and families who would've been eligible for deportation relief under Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, a now-suspended program that President Barack Obama called for through an executive order.

"Your story is no different than mine. I just happen to be generations down from my grandfather, who came from Mexico," said Cortez Masto, who will be the first Latina in the U.S. Senate if she's elected.

Her grandfather crossed the Rio Grande to settle in the U.S. in the 1940s, a time when the emphasis was on assimilating and learning English, she said. She explained at the event, which alternated between two languages, that she doesn't speak Spanish fluently but can understand it.

The speeches thing was holding her to a standard that NO ONE has EVER been held to. EVER. Releasing taxes is bog standard, literally everyone does it. To conflate the two is dishonest and ignores all history.

The left has an issue where the left-most part of the "reasonable economic thought" axis (aka everything ranging from Socialism up until you hit social democracy) has been sawed off like Florida. Economics moved right because of this (and then back left once the push towards far-right Lassez-Faire style has been debunked), but tons of people don't want to listen to experts/history/data, they just want to do what their emotions tell them (which is to pine for unachievable dystopian systems.) Mix this with the populist/protectionist backlash that also fueled Trump, and you get all the rage at an arcane trade agreement primarily designed to squeeze China.

Of course it's a hypocritical double standard.

Let me explain it to you very simply.

Every Presidential Candidate releases their tax returns. There's an expectation that is going to happen. Everyone has done it since Nixon. It's a thing.

There is no expectation that a Presidential Candidate needs to release details on private events that they were invited to and paid for. There is no expectation that a Presidential candidate needs to do anything with "Transcripts" that there is no evidence of anything negative in. It's a nothing issue dreamed up by the same minds who thought Emails and Benghazi were winning issues that we had to be drumming on for years even though NOBODY CARES. There's certainly nothing illegal about giving a speech. If there was something negative, wouldn't anyone have said something by now?

Ok, even simpler. Tax returns DO NOT EQUAL transcripts. Is Donald Trump releasing transcripts of every speech he ever gave? Granted, nobody is asking for them because the man has about a fifth grade vocabulary, but still.

Everyone releases Tax Returns. Sidestepping the argument about Donald Trump not releasing his Tax Returns is a giant red flag to the world that you have nothing of substance against Clinton, you just want to muddy the waters.
