I watch the clips on MSNBC when Nate or someone otherwise intelligent is on. Olberman is blowhard. Maddow though. Me like.
Maddow is funny, smart, sarcastic, and not too biased. I genuinely enjoy her show. I occasionally watch Olbermann, though he is a blowhard, but I fully acknowledge that he is the leftist version of Fox News, and I take everything he says with a huge load of salt.

Those Obama :'( pictures hit me way harder than I would have expected.

Maybe it's losing my gramps a year ago. Maybe it's the timing Mostly I think it's the most he's ever let down his guard. He's held up this perfect mask this entire time. He's never been mad, he's rarely had any serious snafus, he's been a fairly unflawed, if approachable and human, veil of a man. That's fair game, it's his job to have a poker face, and he's done well. But after years of it with barely more than a smirk and a laugh at a debate, this tore down a wall, if only for a brief moment.

K, I'm done rambling. My thoughts are with him for the time being, until game time tomorrow.

Me too, it was hard to watch him give that speech in NC. I lost my gramps a year ago also :(

I'm gonna have a fun day tomorrow, I'm gonna be doing election protection/poll watching in Columbus, Ohio--have to be at polling location by 5:45am, and gonna be there until the polls close at 7:30pm (or later).

TDG said:
Nah, he's just a really, really smart campaign strategist who knows how to win elections at any cost.
I'm not sure how that conflicts with lacking fundamental ethics. Many of the things he has done are very unethical (lying) and at times illegal (planting bugging devices in his own offices and calling the police . . . he should have been jailed for that.)

Wedge, my man, why don't you have a seat over here? We need to have a talk.

It's about your girlfriend, and it's not good news.

Tell her you're voting tomorrow on whether or not she's going to stay your girlfriend, and that you're undecided.

Somehow I don't believe this is the best way to approach it...

I think part (or maybe all) of why she hasn't decided is that her parents are staunch republicans and (having refused to pay attention or investigate for herself up until....the night before the election) she needs some concrete, non-partisan reasons as to vote. Or so I hope. Doesn't help that all of what could be non-partisan-ish happened over the last few months, and everything right now is just predicting whats going to happen tomorrow.

Still haven't found anything beyond PBS (even npr failed me!).

MSNBC said 50% of registered AA's have already voted in NC. The rest need to come out in full force tomorrow that will enurance NC victory.

NC is silly right now. I was just reading in the Charlotte Observer that they're already at 41% turnout for the entire registered base in NC, just from early voting. ALMOST HALF THE STATE HAS VOTED.:D

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
O'Reilly was just reporting that on the night of Obama's infomercial, O'Reilly offered McCain a FREE half hour of television time during his show.

McCain turned it down.

His campaign must be one of the worst-managed campaigns in recent history.

Bad news guys!

I've been crunching the numbers all day and it's look pretty grim for Obama:

1) Obama was unable to seal the deal in states like CA and NY during the primaries. If he couldn't win then, what chance does he have now?

2) Obama's strength came from typically red states like North Carolina and Georgia. What chance do these have of going blue? None, that's what chance.

3) Obama had success in states like Vermont in Rhode Island, but did you know that because these states are small and full of lattes, they don't count? It's true; look it up.

Plus, I'm really worried about Pennsylvania :(

Why is Matthews letting this Senator spew so much bullshit about Obama being a socialist and wanting the supreme court to redistribute wealth. Matthews knows better

I dunno . . . Matthews scored a big success by letting Michelle Bachman run her mouth.

So MSNBC has money for holograms but not HD. Shameful.
They dropped the ball and were unable to launch this year. MSNBC HD will go live in Q2 09.

Someone needs to have a chat with our pal Nate about his camera presence. He stares blankly into the camera, almost never blinking, and generally looks uncomfortable, poor dear.

To be fair, he's still in mourning because not only is baseball season over, now the election is about to be over.

He was probably just hoping that he'd tie himself up in his own bullshit, but the guy did a fairly good job of not leaving himself open to anything.

Man, I wish Olbermann would just use his campaign comment tonight as a chance to implore people to exercise their right to vote instead of this random double-standard shit.

This will win it for the Republicans:

http://blogs.wsj.com/environmentalc...in-obama-camp-spar-over-bankrupting-big-coal/

What I've said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

The only thing I've said with respect to coal, I haven't been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.

It's just that it will bankrupt them.

__________

...I have problems with a politician saying we should bankrupt players in a industry just to make a great leap forward. I am more in the favor of allocating money to these industries for pushing alernative energies. Match the amout they pour into Solar/etc and give them more some more % cash for how much they start changing from the old industries which will augment my power supply.

(Few realize this that Solar is really weak to EMP as a sidenote and I am sure the DoD doesn't want it putting a certain amount as our energy source. I mean 95% vulnerability if you go read about it...Cars as a sidenote are only vulnerable 25% Laptop computers are 5%, etc)

Not using my powers to PUNISH a person for making energy plants that may be needed to avoid rolling blackouts. Why Punish when you can promote?

Nobody it going bankrupt. It was just an expression of "People will need to install scrubbers or capture systems or build solar/wind plants." They are not going to just drive companies into bankruptcy. The companies will change their behavior to avoid the bankruptcy. That is the point.
