I recently rewatched this movie, partner had never seen it.

Good move. I've never seen a politics discussion on a gaming forum that isn't either an echo chamber or a food fight. I like the idea of focusing the forum on gaming, and leaving politics out of it as much as possible.

I was reading Epictetus last night. He's a good reminder to keep your focus on things you can control. Focusing on external stuff you cannot control (like politics) will only lead to angst, frustration, anxiety, and fault-finding. You preserve your freedom, happiness, and equanimity by keeping your focus on things within your control.

Sure it is. You either allow political discussion or you don't. By nuking the political forum it seems like the mods here have made a pretty strong statement that political discussion isn't allowed.

Do I agree with it? No.

Will I follow the new rules? Yes.

Will I constantly report threads and replies that are even remotely related to political discussion? You bet your ass I will, because I don't want the rest of the forum spoiled by what was nicely kept in the political sub-forum until it was nuked.

Whoah this forum is pretty big on Vampire Hunter LOL

Not super knowledgeable on anime here, just know Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion, basically the big ones.

Everytime I see someone get modded over there, three or four names in particular are quick to bitch about "alt right" moderators.
They do get called libturds from time to time, but mostly I see the same ass blasted users with that usual reply.

Wow, I actually saw that film when it came out, but we all hated it because the auto mix, at least for the version we had, was terrible where you couldn't hear any voices but the SFX/Music were clipping. This was legit as well, not bootleg.

It's one of the anime that was always on local late night channels. For me, the standard repeats were either Vampire Hunter D movies and Twilight of the Cockroaches.

It was from the early DVD days too. I had a release copy and yeah. Had all those issues and more.

No, it had its good moments and quality posts but it also had a lot of toxicity and it was obvious it became too big of a task for our mods to handle currently. It was a ugly blemish, especially for new comers, it's possible that it might had detour those that wanted to join a good community but also attract those that wanted to spread their ideology and political agenda.

I'm hesitant to compare poligaf to a particular toxic board, but you could see some similarities with our political subforum with /Pol/ over at 4chan. /pol/ is a bit of a extreme comparison but maybe EviLore EviLore saw it becoming like that, and probably would have already without our mods but they can only do so much, you know?

Also, yeah we need to heal. Especially those that depended on Poligaf for their news, plus I'm sure there were some that had friends get purged.

Discotek media re-released it on bluray, must of fixed that issue. Their version is really good, although it lacks the japanese audio.
 
It is understandable.
After November some people on the political spectrum couldn't hold it together.
Member the kraken stuff? Hilarious and fucking scary.

I do hope the mods and Evil get to set some proper rules around it.
Games are a huge industry with notoriously bad work conditions sometimes. I think it is important stuff like that is talked about.
 
Is there any alternative political forums one can visit that people know of? I rather enjoy the political forums. I also endorse the mod decision.

meh, i enjoyed reading some stuff in that forum but my personal contributions to threads there were minimal and somewhat forgettable. onward and upward!

Yeah, that sums up 98% of political discourse on the internet. It's too bad because when regular people civilly discuss politics is when progress is made. With the current state of things, we're not much different than mainland China, where no one talks about politics because they know it won't improve things, and we see how that's working out.
