The politics forum had far too many thinly-veiled racists parading under the banner of free speech. In the end, the forum followed the same trajectory of other recent conservative strongholds, careening headlong into dissolution. Sooner or later, that leopard will eat your face. Good riddance.

all of that is problematic but politics had more elements of right wingers than left wingers. I don't recall anyone spamming acab or saying antifa are good guys but there were a lot of users defending the capitol riot and pushing Q and the Big Lie here.

I was pretty clear with what i said, some people might not like white supremacists onboard and not being far left. But that is the first immediate thing people flock to. The same way it is wrong to equate conservatives with white supremacists.

Good move. Sadly a lot of the far right mindset that ran rampant in the politics section also oozed into other parts where the same people basically just posted racist/transphobic/homophobic one liners for "laughs".
I didn't have a problem with people having different views than popular media outlets or other gaming forums that are further on the left, but in the end the "free speech" everyone was so proud of has become a circle jerk of right wingers instantly attacking people that were thinking differently and also some of my posts there were deleted, because "we don't want your different opinion to start trouble here" basically. No idea who it was because as a normal user you can't see who moderated your post.
In the end everyone gotta be honest with themselves and the politics forum wasn't a safe haven of free speech even if people there fooled themselves into thinking that.

Many believed the right wing lies, but a lot are also totally buying into the left wing lies that are being pushed through the mainstream currently.
I think both is equally bad, but one side gets way more attention. That's why I liked the open discourse with both narratives clashing.

I was VERY active in the Poltics subform and never saw anything out of line from either the far-left or far-right posters. The place was great and, in my opinion, there was no need to nuke it.
If the current mods didn't want to spend the time modding the forum, get some new mods. Don't nuke an active sub-forum.

That's actually not what is going on here. It isn't about being proud, it is about not feeling guilty all day every day for something you didn't do in the first place.
There's a pretty strong movement in American culture right now that demands expressions of white guilt. If you're not willing to express it---truthfully or otherwise---then you're branded a racist, white supremacist, alt-right, etc.
I don't want to restart the politics forum inside of this thread. Just felt the need to point out that the people who are throwing around these labels carelessly are and were part of the problem.
