Poll: IGN Xbox overrating games good or bad?

There were two games I wanted on Xbox, Fable and Jade Empire. While Fable was good, Jade Empire was ass. I felt ripped off, luckily I got Arx Fatalis and all seems right with the world. Arx is much better than the pc version because the spell system is much less cumbersome, I can actually play it!

But if it wasn't for Arx, the xbox would have been a mistake for me all because of IGN so I say bad.

Bad.

EDIT: Every 10 posts I will count the numbers.

If you wanted to make a point, you picked the worst two games, as far as my presonal tastes go. I love both of those games.

If you trust game review scores and as a result feel ripped off, you got what you deserved.

:( Dammit, isn't that what they are for? I mean, aren't these info websites supposed to give you a good idea whether buying a console is a good idea or not?

"You don't think that Jade Empire is overrated? It's 9.9 worthy?"

I guess it could be a little if you really go by the .x score. . But me personally, I never could tell the difference between a 9.2, a 9.3 and a 9.8. Can you? To me they're all 9 games. And I'd give Jade Empire a solid 9.

Sure, but it's not bulletproof. It also depends on the reviewer's tastes, vs yours. What ticks him off in games versus what bothers you.

You should try getting more opinions rather than trusting one source(especially console exclusive sites), and get them from people that you can relate to more as far as tastes in games go. That's what I try to do.

I'm not going to match very well with a guy who loves Elderscrolls even though the game might be a 9 in his book, because in mine it's a 7.

See, websites don't score games according to the "Monk's Sucky Taste in Games Scale" -- so they are more or less useless to you.

Well this poll is a bust. :p

A 9.9 is like a tiny insignificant flaw that you can over look. A 9 means that there is a possibility that you may not like the game but most people will love it.

"A 9 means that there is a possibility that you may not like the game"

Even if a game's a 10 game there's a possibility you might not like it.

Oh and another tip: NEVER go by just the NUMBER. ALWAYS read what they DON'T like about a game and see if that's something you can or can't live with.

A 10 IMO should be that perfect game that no one could possibly "hate". Like Mario 3, no one could "hate" it.

Actually...awe screw it....I give up. You win. Bitch away....

what sort of question is that? you could conceivably argue that ign xbox don't overrate games. but i'm not sure why anyone would think that they do overrate games and consider this a good thing.

I like that they overrate games. Means that I can tell people X game got Y rating at IGN so they can preorder days before and help me keep a job.

:lol

I trust gamespot more than IGN these days.

an average game on ign -> 8.0

that´s 4/5.. how many average movies for example get 4/5?

should an average game be better than 79% of all other games?

IGN:s scores are crap

A frikkin' number doesn't tell you dick about the game. All it gives you is a measurement of how much or little a person likes a game. And people (well, individual people anyway) like games for different reasons. So if you don't at least read the review and several others beside, but instead rely on the "97%!!!" that's printed inside a little yellow explosion, you have no one to blame but yourself.

See, this is why you'll always be fooled by review scores, then have the gall to blame the sites for it after the fact. If a person hates like platformers, mascot games or anything of the sort, they'd have no reason NOT to hate Mario 3. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

:lol Now here's a guy who knows how to use review scores.

I read the review, I thought I might like it, but the combat is flawed as hell. Funnily enough the review didn't mention that. I mean you hit people and thus stunning them a little when you roll, WTF Blanka influence?
