Even if his point was about make up and not rendering prowess, it would be equally stupid because no modern girl get out of home without makeup, and sure as hell not the maryjane archetype.

Maybe the blue hairs whales do that and probably don't even shave their armpits, but not your average 25y girl.

And let's not even talk about the fact that her character is based on an eyecandy comic character and not a real person so even less reasons to look average.

The point is that you want every women in every game to look your narrow definition of "beautiful", i.e. a supermodel/porn star, ideally a blonde Sydney Sweeney lookalike whereas that's a tiny minority, your desperation to have this is a minority, the world has progressed to represent people of different appearances, races, religions, genders and sexualities. People want to see themselves when they watch/play, your mentality is a dinosaur and complain all you like, the world is leaving you behind, it's called progress.
It's like people desperately hanging on to racial segregation when the world had moved on.
Let it go, it's futile.

And, the game will sell gangbusters because almost nobody cares that the main character isn't wearing lip gloss , that'll be your proof. Millions and millions of happy gamers and a tiny chud minority, whinging.

Nah, i'm one of the few in here who defended aloy, selene and the fable chick multiple times (it doesn't mean that i can't laugh at fun memes tho)

Pretty sure i made a positive post about the yotei actress before knowing his activist past, that soured me a bit, ngl.

I just know when a character being sexy make sense, and comics eyecandy maryjane has no reason to look mid unless you make it on purpose to fuck the chuds.

There is time and place for average looking women or even ugly ones, a game based on comicbooks with 11/10 women is not one of them, simple as that.

Returnal story would not work aswell if she looked like a tiktok whore in the face (but the devs gave her a nice ass to compensate :lollipop_grinning_sweat: ).

This is why i told you that you picked the wrong guy, i troll wokes a lot but i'm also fair.

You mean in 1600s and japan had quite a bit of make up for a least 1000 years maybe even more. Of course it shouldn't be modern though where is that coming from. But fullface makeup isnt that outlandish.

Why don't they give us the choice to customize it in the way people want it. I know maybe there is but they already made a lengthy video about new aspects of the game and they didn't mention deeper character customization anywhere, I doubt there is anything to be found.

Nonsense. Both characters are 1:1 face scans without makeup. May be many don't like their faces without foundation, lipstick and mascara, but let's not distort reality to claim something else entirely. There are other character face scans that were clearly modified, but not Jordan or Atsu. Tati Gabrielle looks exactly like that without makeup and a wig.
 
Can someone tell me why these comments are acting like Returnal failed? It was a brand new IP that got a sequel, not every game is going to sell $10M copies and I doubt it cost Housemarque all that much to make compared to other Sony first party games.

GoY is safe, sony game with strong story elements = 85MC minimum. Even with what looks like a fucking lazy and minimal effort from SP combined with some woke BS.

This opinion of yours is trash. You're correct that some media spaces overrated Dragon Age: Veilguard, but to discuss a game like Ghost of Yotei like this without having played it at all shows your insane bias. Why be so emotional about a single player exclusive like this?

You can see all that in the trailers. Low effort, bare minimum sequel with PS4 graphics.

I will play this game at some point, make no mistake. But overhype (from "journalists") of games from Sony, Nintendo and even MS is very real in this industry.
 
I liked Tsushima, despite its several flaws.
But the more I see of Yotei the less I'm hyped.

Perhaps one day I will play the PC version on Boosteroid, like I've done with the first one, after a chunky discount

So if all 3 platform holders have journalists overhype their games, then what are we even talking about? Plus you can say the same thing about FromSoft games, Indie darlings like Hollow Knight, or Live Service games like Overwatch.

This is not about console war. There many, many games released from other publishers that don't get the same treatment.

I agree that FS games don't get enough criticism, games deserve high scores but they are dogshit in technical aspects and that is rarely mentioned. Capcom also gets free pass with Monster Hunter. This turd get score like that:

Meanwhile there many good games that get good scores (Mafia, Hell is Us etc.), but those scores are not inflated - 70-79 MC score by many people is considered bad.

Veilguard was so bad that it felt like some media outlets were trying to trick readers into buying it - all praise and no criticism for that game is just dishonest. Agreed about Ghost of Yotei, though. They surprised a lot of people, in a good way, with the first game. Let's see if they can pull that off again.

What they usually do is using the regular attractive actresses and make them put on glasses or have odd clothes or hair. If you're not attractive you're usually stuck playing side characters.

Personally, I think scepticism of "gaming journalists" and anything they touch is borderline healthy at this point. Whether it's paid marketing or their personal ideologies fuelling their disconnect I'll leave to you, but if gaming journalists said the sun was shining, I'd wear a rain coat.

Funny how they never have groups of enemies gang tackle the hero all at once. But they got to do that because if they did attack all at once the hero would be immediately dead. And it would look stupid if a hero can kill 5 enemies attacking all at once slashing them all in 0.5 seconds.
