Ghost of Yotei tops IGN's most anticipated game poll

Sony always wins. I told you guys it will get a MC of 90+ with a orchestra Keighley concert.

The main actress will accept an award on stage. I don't know what category, but she will be there winning something.

So the usual astroturfingbots who mass voted? I mean we all remember also God of War winning the best game of all time on IGN.. what a joke. BF6 will be much bigger, just you watch.

Surely the game that sells the most is actually the most anticipated. Does anticipated mean good? I dont think it does it just means the game that most people are excited for. So which ever game sellsthe most in the first month is clearly the most anticipated title, no?

You realize that Silksong is a big game, but mainly for the hardcore gamer, right?

It's reached mainstream status. HK back in 2015, yes, only for the hardcore. But now this has made enough noise to attract everyone, for FOMO or whatever reason. That's why HK peaked on Steam the other day, lot of newcomers joining the hype.

A similar situation would happen if Bloodborne 2 released next gen. It would double or triple Bloodborne sales.

No doubt Yotei is very popular too, but I don't "feel" as much hype as with other Sony's big IP.

Well, it is IGN.

Erm... the single biggest gaming site on the internet?

Ya'll need to step away from Gaf once in a while and get out into the real world. NeoGaf rarely reflects the sentiments of the mainstream gamer.

The success of Assassin's Creed: Shadows pretty much proves this. Gaf had a raging hate boner for that game and it sold gangbusters, like every other Ubisoft AC game.

Shadows sold so well that Ubisoft noped out of participating in sales tracking.

Didn't IGN get busted trying to rig their GOTY poll? Maybe they got better at it.

I'm confused as to why people are questioning this. 1st party exclusive on the most popular current platform should be highly anticipated regardless of the fact that anyone, including myself personally couldn't give much of a fuck. I mean shit, I played the last one last year and Ass creed a few months ago. The first one was OK, but its really just another open world filled with too much repetitive shit.

It's mostly limited to a certain group of people, most normal gamers think "More GoT with new location, character , weapons and story? Count me in".
The poll is evidence of that.

IGN do polls and war lists all the bloody time kid. Don't come here thinking neoGAF is a bubble when you rely in others bubbles.

Not when you are asking people who actively follow the industry and play more than a couple of the big sellers every year. Pretty clear that's what this poll is so shouldn't be a surprise that the most anticipated doesn't mean the top sellers. We have no idea whether the game is "good" or not so not, obviously "anticipated" doesn't mean good.

The cheque cleared.

You going to buy an Xbox Rog Ally with it?

I think it's more nuanced than that. I have no doubt that COD will sell more than any other game listed, but the hype/anticipation can still be muted ("it's just another online game", "the next cycle begins", etc). Whereas a fresh new take or a proper sequel to a beloved game can hit quite differently.

I have friends for example who will all buy the new EA FC sports football game, but I don't see any excitement there. It's just the same continuation of something. What they really talk about is: Yotei, Silksong etc.

For the record, while it's a poll, IGN has never been connected to something that I thoroughly agree with. At least, it hasn't been that way for several decades, lol. It's almost like they (or their community) will always flock to the thing that I disagree with every time. Sure it's all subjective, but still. :pie_thinking:

Point in the Doll were Astrobot touched you

I have nothing against Astrobot actually, I just find these massive astroturfing efforts to push the remaining nuggets of Sony exclusives as the next big thing more fitting to use astroturfingbot moniker now that Astrobot is the mascot of Sony over ponies

Lol

If this poll had been made a few months ago, it'd have been Death Stranding 2. To me it's hilarious how detached from reality it is. BF6 will wipe the floor.

But now, maybe I'm underestimating Sony's will to make Ghost of Yotei a thing at GOTY awards and try to push expedition 33 out 😂

Start the operation!

All over seen over the last few weeks is people talking about battlefield 6. To top that is some serious skills.
Someones finding it difficult to accept.

Bro having an internal meltdown.

Which bubble am I in?
You must be really, really old to refer to me as "kid".
Have fun, gramps!

Trust me, you would prefer be called a kid because most of your conversations and argumentations are annoying.

And to you to reply for someone else without even mention the context its absolute amateur hour. Thats what you get for replying into someone else conversation. If you do a little research, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, you name it, there are as you kids call today 'hate' or 'haters', aka people you normally don't agree with. I never said there are no people who love this game because I know some folks like what GoY is presenting, just you and some fanboys saying there aren't people that don't like.

No idea what your point is, this is tedious, use the ignore button.

Yes, not the best game of all time good though, is it? It's not even the best god of war.

I admit Gow 2016 is not the best GoW, but is a good GoW overall, down by some stupid decisions. For me is a 8/10 with room for improvement (Ragnarok double down the bad aspects of 2016).

And is not so easy to reboot a franchise of that caliber and succeeded.

It is good don't get me wrong, just laughably voted to #1 game of all time is what I'm poking fun at.

Its actually one of the few Playstation PC ported games I spent time finishing it and almost doing everything, I'm missing achievements here that I did not hunt and its probably related to end game armor farming that I got bored of when I saw what it required to do, some zone iirc I had to farm, I was done with the game at that point.

But I wish they would port the older God of war games. Haven't bought Ragnarok yet, not sure I want to with the feedback it got but maybe one day.

It certainly wouldn't be my pick, but it's a good pick nevertheless. Other outlets picked games like Disco Elysium, Breath of the Wild, Tetris etc. I don't see how this is specific IGN thing.

you do not think ghost of yotei is woke?
I'm not in to Ghost of Yotei but I'm not sure what part of is "woke".

I'm not in to playing as "ugly" characters but even that alone doesn't make the game "woke".

I feel like people here going too overboard calling everthing they dont like "woke".......Its okay not like something but stop calling everthing "woke".

People are surprised by this? It's a quadruple-A Sony release, design as a safe sequel to attract as many people as possible. Of course it's going to be popular and sell millions of copies, even if some of us are disappointed with the new protagonist and lack of major changes.

Can't say the character in the game is my favorite but nothing about this looks woke to me either.
