Without spoiling the plot, essentially Selene's entire backstory requires her to be an older woman and a bit of a fuck-up.

Whille making her more attractive wouldn't be a deal-breaker, it wouldn't add anything either.

Its like asking why isn't Harry Mason in Silent Hill more buff !

She's in her 40s, just a couple years older than Samus in Dread. In the end it's gaming, and sci-fi. 1000 year old dragon and all that there are no rules lol
They could've changed her looks every cycle if they wanted, could've used the house segments to look into a mirror to see different faces everytime and could've messed with her head with flickering faces of different persons making the whole thing more eerie.
