This turned from great news to terrible

The series started with X-Men and they have been the standout characters from all the Marvel and Verses games ever since.

Just throwing it out there, there's also an entirely different Ms. Marvel who's pretty popular right now. Lumping the two names together probably isn't the best idea.

Seems like we can never have a Marvel release without some big omission from the roster. Last Marvel was Mega Man and some other characters. Now it's the X-Men and Doom. So annoying. I know it's early, but I really hope this doesn't hurt the long-term success of the game.

I didn't think there'd be another MvC after Disney's acquisition. Licensing is a bitch, so if it means we can't get X-Men, I'm not going to throw a tantrum; I'm just glad any version is coming. As long as it's a Capcom, fast paced fighter designed as well as MvC 2 and 3, then I'll be more than happy.

It likely won't. There will be "expressed concern" over the omissions off and on going up to release, and then most will just fall in line because it's MAHVEL.
 
I miss Psylocke from MvC2, but other than that I'm not really torn up by potentially losing the X-Men. There are SO MANY GREAT MARVEL CHARACTERS that aren't X-Men, that have never gotten a decent video game portrayal. The door is finally open for them.

It's just gonna feel weird for a bit that there's no Wolverine (if there indeed isn't), but then I'll be all Ant-Man and Daredevil and Black Panther and Captain Marvel, aw yes!

Ha, before it turned out that MvC3 actually was a huge loveletter to the MvC2 scene in so many ways, I did not expect dat mango sentinel to return at all. Logan and Storm, sure, but the mass-produced robots from Days of Future Past? Ehhhhhhh

Still, I'm glad they were included, the early days of Vanilla MvC3 were hilarious with them around (plus they contributed to this moment)

I hope you're right. As long as the rest of the roster is well-made, everything should be good. While the roster is important, I mainly just care about the gameplay. If this was many yrs back before I started reading comics, I'd probably have a different opinion towards the ban.
 
So which new characters do you guys think will be showing up? Based on marvels movies possibly thanos new design?

Spencer should definitely come back. The Capcom side got a ton of invigoration last time that I would like to see continued here. Maybe Wesker's son from RE6 & Wesker, bring back Frank West, drop Phoenix Wright & put in X, keep the Street Fighter characters to 3 or 4 max.

I think they could have a lot of fun with turning Rocket & Groot into a single character (ie Rocket perched on Groot's shoulder and/or Rocket with baby Groot in his backpack) with some very weird traits.
 
What are the chances of this being Itsuno's new project? I'm kinda scared that there might not be a DMC5 and MvC4 might've been the project that Itsuno talked about back in the January.

He'll probably be back, though I could see him with his rearmed design (with the stache) as the default. That said, I hope it's dreadlocks, MvC3 made me like the character and design much more than his own game ever did.

From Capcom I can definitely see Firebrand getting dropped. Zero might be in flux too, with how popular Mega Man's inclusion in Smash was I can see there being a serious debate on which one to include (I'd like both, tbh).

I don't see Jake replacing Wesker, RE6 just wasn't that well received. I could see Ada or Leon making an appearance though, maybe replacing Chris or Jill.

I do kind of wonder if we'll get an Onimusha rep, and who the third DMC rep will be. Vergil and Dante are a lock but I could see Trish being left behind in favor of Lady or Nero.

Only reason Zero and Tron (and Volnutt too in TatsuCap) got into their games was because Inafune. Now, we're gonna get Mega Man or X or we're getting no-one.

I'd think it would be very likely, that's easy money on the table and the perfect opportunity to get these games on current gen and PC too.
 
I'm all for fucking over Fox no matter how small or petty the manner it's done, but MvC without Wolverine and Mags and no return for Deadpool? That might be where my line goes.
 
...I don't know any of those characters in the poll. :/ I just hope I can give the game a try on PC, and that there'll be cross-platform in some way.
