Maybe they can make a DLC deal that lets them put in xmen and fantastic 4 characters. I honestly don't see why not. If the base roster is mcu heavy I feel like theyd be scraping the bottom of the barrel with mcu dlc characters.
 
People are exaggerating the MCU focus. The MCU isn't gonna dictate every single roster pick with only one or two exceptions.

As for people complaining about MCU villains, keep in mind the villains would likely draw heavily from the comics. Someone like Baron Zemo, Batroc, Arnim Zola or Malekith are very different characters in the comics than in the movies.

Anyway, I think Hela and Zemo would be inspired villain picks. Both of them have unique looks and a ton of moveset potential that would make for interesting and fun FG characters.

True, but they'd probably want to mainly get villains who are popular in the movies first. Then you'd have to factor in major characters in the comics who can be in the movies.

I think they will. It will probably lean heavily on their movie/tv properties, but I can see some basic staples like wolverine/magneto/doom making it. I would not expect cyclops/gambit though.

not to mention people act as if the MCU all of a sudden arent the same characters as the comics, as if somehow they re non-marvel made for film heroes

I could see FF happening, considering that Fox have devalued the IP and have their hands full mining the X-Men universe for more Deadpool-like gold. Marvel will probably want characters like the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom to sustain their cinematic universe for a few more phases.

But Marvel would have to starve interest in the Fantastic Four first.
 
It's a shame Annihilus is stuck to the Fantastic Four, because he'd be so goddamn awesome as an MvC character. Kang as well, because of the whole time control shenanigans, though less so in the visual department.

Character designs for costumed heroes (like Black Panther) will probably take the MCU influence but you are absolutely right. Zemo is a very possible option and would probably be based on the comic version. It's probably just going to be up to the design team based on which version of the character in question has the more appealing and suitable design for the game.

And while the roster will surely bring us most of the main MCU cast for sure, there will probably be a few picks from the comic-only side. I'm definitely thinking Future Fight is a good idea of what we can expect from characters. If they are present in Future Fight they probably have a shot at MVC. So while Squirrel Girl may not ever appear in the movies, she's a real candidate for the game.

I don't think that's an awful trade off honestly. Still don't understand where the "omg I'm so sick of the MCU" sentiment comes from. There's so much variety there it's ridiculous.
 
on the one hand mag-fuckin-neto is the most iconic of MVC characters.

on the other hand I'm really, really sick of seeing him in every single team in tournaments. To say nothing of Phoenix.

For marvel villains I NEED

Loki, venom, thanos, green goblin, doc ock, electro, and ultron (I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch I wanna include as well)


For marvel heroes I wanna see

Luke cage, daredevil, elektra, vision, punisher, falcon, black panther, star-lord, deathlok, Bucky (winter soldier) and a bunch more im forgetting.
 
Hope we get some good WTF picks that aren't telegraphed by who Marvel is currently pushing.

Trying to think of good long range energy projection characters to make up for who we lost. I guess Ultron and Scarlet Witch if they can get her?

Magneto, Doom, and Wolverine are the ones that hurt the most. Deadpool is huge right now, far more than X-Men I'd say so that'd probably hurt them the most in the general public's eye.

As someone who only knew Thanos as the boss of Marvel Super Heroes when he showed up in the Avengers credits.....it's great to have Marvel back but at what cost??
 
This news really pleases me, and now I'm so fucking hype.

Question about what this could possibly mean for seeing mvc2 again as an online download/purchase. And also, I no longer have a 360 or ps3, but I have purchased mvc2 on both consoles. Since I bought the game already, can it still be redownloaded or is that down for everyone, even including people who have already bought it in the past?

Hoping we get re-releases of mvc2 and mvc3 as a result of this cooperation. And I really fucking hope we get to see some gameplay this weekend. Crossing my fingers they stick to 3v3 and go back to the button-layout of mvc2 though.

I love MCU and I am sure they can make a great line-up with it. That said, I will miss the X-men in any Marvel crossover product. Following Bats and Spidey, they were my favourite childhood heroes.

Besides the Hulkbuster (what?) I'd be more than happy with these swaps.
 
Wolverine, Storm, Magneto and Doom are painful not only because none of the MCU newcomers are more popular than them, but just how important they are to the legacy of Mahvel :(

But like I said, it'll be ok. The replacements will be good, and here's hoping the mutants move sets will live on.

Eventually, xmen will join the MCU anyways because Disney always wins in the end. Marvel 5 will be back to normal.

Honestly I'd rather have the movesets removed entirely than copying/pasting to other heroes

Makes the fact that they're missing way worse and has them "written out" of the game vs. out for now

I'm excited to have Black Panther in and I think just making him Wolverine cheapens that.

I dunno, a LOT of her first run has her constantly visiting New Atillan and talking with Medusa. Hell, Lockjaw was practically her sidekick for a bit.

I don't know about that. I mean, outside of a few missteps (The Last Stand, Origins: Wolverine and Apocalypse), all the other Fox X-Men films have been critically and commercially successful. Even this year they still had Deadpool taking the world by storm. I just don't see Fox giving up the franchise any time soon, if ever.

Now, Fantastic Four on the other hand? That has to be brought back to Marvel at some point. Fox is insane if they think they're going to keep making movies based on that brand after three duds in a row.

Right, I posted a panel with this earlier in the thread even! I think they've given her her own space to grow as well though.

I guess she's just likeable and a lot of the other Inhumans rub people the wrong way? I like Black Bolt and Lockjaw at least.
