All of the above and then some. I don't have a main anymore since I probably play on my phone more than any other device. Second most used is PC. Then PlayStation …Quest 3 …….Switch …………Xbox …………………retro consoles. I have preferences at times but I am a gaming ho.

Always had some console in my gaming carrier, from 1996 I always have PC also.
Over the years PC climbed as my primary gaming system but also always got at least one console or two from 2001.

I'm always be a console player at heart and playstation will always have a special place there and in my living room.

I play as much if not more on 'pc' these days, but really the platform is steam. Steam consolized pc gaming for me. Then it came to Linux. Then steam itself is so good to use and shop on. One of my favorite things is hardware flexibility. Where I can choose to pack a controller and tablet, or pay for ps6 power in 2025. You do have to pay though...

Idk. My head says steam and my heart says playstation. More telling that using both maybe, I can go long stretches without one or the other.

Pool?

PS5 Pro for 3rd party/online play including Xbox games.

Switch 2 for exclusives.

PC for older games and Xbox games.

PC, apart from the Amiga, I've only ever gamed on PC since 1995, I always will, I have never been a Console gamer, they have never caught my interest, even as a teen.

PC main because it's the ultimate platform. Unlimited backwards compatibility. 1000's of games in my backlog. Steam is the most consumer-centric platform. Valve don't care if you hack, alter, upgrade your Steam Deck. Etc, etc.

PC also makes Xbox and PS irrelevant, now that those publishers are bring games to PC, combined with their lack of output and compelling, original exclusives.

Nintendo is still in it's own bubble. If you like Nintendo games, you have to have a Switch 1/2, so the ultimate combo is PC + Switch 1/2.

PC. It plays virtually everything (Switch/PS5/Xbox, and all old consoles and games) and it plays them at the highest settings and framerates. Plus mods and tweaks.

I really don't main any. I go where the game I want to play is when I want to play it and where I get the best experience. These days that's probably PC if it's multiplat.

PC, I get to play games from way back along with the latest ones and I get to sync my games across different PCs and laptops if I want low end gaming to high tier. Something consoles can never replicate. Hell, I can play the games PlayStation will never make compatible in modern systems.

-Also on PC and other consoles with adaptor.
-Almost all of them better on PC.
-All better on PC.
-All better on PC.
🤷‍♂️
I knew I had to put a disclaimer that I am ignoring PC.

As someone who has been gaming on PC for nearly two decades, I know it is the most technologically advanced and the most customisable tool to play games, but I also have just about zero desire to return to it for numerous reasons.

PC.

I even considered buying a PS4 a while back and making it my main platform, but I realized it wasn't worth it. It makes even less sense today, with most major console exclusives being released on PC. The only real advantage consoles have nowadays, in my opinion, is the ability to get games on physical media, but I'm not going to buy a console just for that.

PC, for the following reasons:

-Backwards compatibility
-Mod ability
-Almost always the best version of games
-Steam sales and key resellers lead to really good game prices
-Don't need a sub to play online
-Best and most diverse peripherals (supports every type of controller imaginable: m&k, HOTAS, Gamepads, etc.)
-Best supported platform for interesting indies

PC, because it plays everything.

It virtually plays the entirety of the back catalog of the history of gaming, and every current game in existence, except for exclusives, that become playable sooner or later in the future.

And it gives you endless options: from graphics, to mods, to peripherals, etc. Play on a monitor, in VR, on a big screen, from the couch, whatever.

PC has infinite exclusives.

I still buy consoles because I can and because there's a couple games a year that's worth playing. And for nostalgic reasons.

Pc, because i can have the best of all worlds and don't have to wait for overpriced Remakes/Remasters if i want to play old stuff. It also has the most exclusive games of them all and i can choose whatever hardware or accessoires i want. Also i like that i don't have to pay for online gaming or save games.

And i love mods. Spend like 15 hours in Brutal Wolfenstein 7.0. It was free and also more fun than 95% of this gens console exclusives. And there are tons of mods.

PC

After finally putting the time in on Arma 3 (A game I bought on day 1 but never really getting stuck in..), the PC reminded me of what I already found out years years ago. The PC is far and away the platform of the more 'refined' gamer and offers a much more in depth gaming experience all round.

A quick video I made after getting used to everything..

You just don't get this on consoles

And don't get me started on modding and workshops, oh my 🧐

I do most of my gaming on Xbox as that's where the bulk of my library is. If I had to guess probably 80% of my gaming time is there with the remainder on Nintendo or PC.

GFN for a while now. It's been more than enough and beats the console experience. May be buying a 2nd GFN device soon for another room. Also considering a steamdeck.

Xbox

  • I own 800+ digital Xbox games
  • I prefer the controller
  • I game share with my son so he can play all my games from his house for no cost to him
  • All my friends and relatives have Xbox

Pretty much the same as me. I have the same circle of gamer friends since Xbox 360 days with rainbow six vegas, PGR3 and gears 1( greatest era in gaming). My real life freinds and family buy Xbox's because I play on that mostly. Even when I'm playing on PC I'm playing with them. I just see my Xbox, my PC and Ally X as parts of eachother all tied together by my Xbox and steam account. If I'm in my studio or my home office I'm in one of my PCs. In my living room it's the series X. The ally spends most of its time in my car, or when I'm out on the veranda with a corona.

I want to get a switch 2. Mostly for the retro games and the Nintendo exclusives.

PS5

-Consoles are the best place to play split-screen games.
-Easy to setup.
-No driver issues / BSOD.
-Controller is incredible with all the new features
-Gets all the big games aside from Nintendo's which I have a Switch for.

PC (since about 1993 I think) and PS but especially this gen the PS5 took over with fast loading and 60 fps on all titles I'm interested in.
I don't really care about mods anymore, or spending time fine tuning graphics with nvidia inspector (top GPUs that made it fun got too expensive for me).
For generations before PS1, I played the most on the Odyssey² (in Brazil it was called just Odyssey), MSX (Sharp HotBit), Mega Drive (Mega CD), and 3DO until the PS1 released.

PS5. I play Genshin and Star Rail on it daily, and CoD sometimes along with some others.
Starting to play more on my PC as well though, recently bought GTA trilogy, Cyberpunk with the DLC, E33 and SMTV:V (and got a new GPU, 9060 XT 16GB)..

PC:

- Cheapest games
- Largest library and game variety
- Most amount of accessories and controller/input support
- Mods
- Largest and most complete BC capability
- Can run older games at higher FPS and resolution without needing developer intervention
- Highest graphical settings, best fps, & best upscaling
- Upgrading and building flexibility
- Emulation of older systems that you can't buy games for anymore, or arcade games that never released anywhere else
- Free online
- Last, but probably the most important for Digital gaming. You are not beholden to a single store and the policies that store holder may decide to change at any time.

I said Xbox, it gets a little more attention because of gamepass, but I play my ps5 frequently as well.
My Switch collects dust, I'll buy a switch 2 when Metroid drops.

Currently no pc access, though I do have a sizable Steam library. I'm patiently waiting Steam Deck 2.

PS5 (Pro).

I like being able to just sit down and play without any distractions or hassle. I don't need to worry that the game won't work, or that i'll need to install this or that mod to have a decent experience (although rarely a game on PS5 might make you wish there was a mod to fix some problem with it).

Consoles still capture some nostalgic feeling for me. Being able to get a physical release that you put on your shelf to display, the feeling of putting a disc in the drive. It's still just about got that even if physical media's future is in jeopardy. There's also the simple allure of being "a PlayStation gamer". It's all in one place, and you can look back on that period of history as 'the PS5 gen' and compartmentalize it from other generations in your mind. There is a relationship I have with the brand dating back to the 90s, that feels positive (but not like fanboyism or a consoomer nature).

It's also not that I don't play any other platforms like PC. I have a good PC with a 4070 Super, but I don't feel there is much on the market that really pushes it above what my PS5 offers. Obvious games like Cyberpunk with path tracing, i'd play on PC over PS5 (and I kind of associate CDPR as being a PC gaming company after playing The Witcher series on there). I also grew frustrated with the PC platform in recent years because of issues like stuttering, although that situation appears to be improving.

Maybe when a fully digital future arrives, I will fully make the switch to PC. Part of the reason why i'm intrigued by the Xbox PC idea is an attempt at consolization of the platform's front-end, so I can still get a good UI experience from the comfy couch. I'm aware that Steam Big Picture gets someway there, but it seems like a lot of configuration for me that i'd need to sit down with and work out.

Playstation. I get everything I want there. Xbox is shipping everything over, I've got no interest in Nintendo, and I'm not motivated or tech-savvy enough to bother with PC; I prefer the ease of console.

i have access to three, PC, Switch and PS
but for now i'm using PC because ease to play while working (i play for research)
and emulator on my mobile, for short fun.
my switch is used by my wife currently.

PC. More games to choose from than consoles. I can game on my pc, steam deck, or use steam link or moonlight on pretty much any device. I own every console (except switch 2), i play on them occasionally, but pc is king.

This is the first generation since ive been gaming I havent seen a need for a console.
There are no exclusives I NEED to play day one....MP games are Multiplat and ill have a better experience on PC.
The actual library of games is absolutely massive, my backlog is miles long.
Only own a Series S cuz I needed something I could easily lug around and/or use for mini-LAN parties with my nieces and nephews.
(Ohh and also for BC I was an OGX/X360/XB1 owner)

PS5

Counterpoint:-

  • Pretty much all the popular SplitScreen games run however you want on PC.
  • Even custom builds are childs play to setup....if its a prebuilt its as easy as consoles.
  • This isnt the 90s, driver issues and BSODs affecting games are barely worth mentioning (literally why any driver issues make the news cycle, they are so rare people panic)
  • Every Controller works on PC with all the new features and more because you can install third party support for whatever feature you want(want Gyro aim in a game that doesnt support it? Theres an App for that)
  • Gets all the big games and emulation is a thing.

PC. Open platform, non proprietary accessories, customize hardware and software until my heart is content to an extent. Which leads me to mods that can improve age old games as well as new. Games considerably cheaper and generally well ahead of the tech front, mostly in GPU features (take DLSS, raytracing or Ai/GPU accelerated stuff. And unless a port is completely borked, you get a much better experience when you have all of the above combined.

Consoles these days are more and more like closed PC's without the benefits and only really specialize is convenience - at least for me. That and the odd exclusive/timed exclusives.
