Xbox. Only because I was into gamescore when the 360 came around and didn't want to lose it if I moved platforms.

Next gen will be PlayStation, I don't care about gamescore anymore.

I only have Switch 2 and PS5.

Switch 2 is for first and 3rd party exclusives while my PS5 is for multiplatform.

I use both equal amount of time but get more excited for Nintendo's upcoming games because unlike Sony they haven't stopped making games I enjoy….based on that go with Switch.

Very painful to plug an HDMI cable to a TV, wow, and get better everything of the PC version.
This is cope from PC players that doesn't really need to be propagated considering all of the other advantages on the platform.

Casual couch play on par with PS/Nintendo isn't one of them.

Even something like the Steam Deck wasn't streamlined enough for me, never mind a desk top.

Absolutely, it works but the experience itself is terrible.

PC

I have pretty much every single fighting game ever made and a fuckload of jrpgs that span from all generations of consoles and Pc gaming. Going from Nintendo to PS5 games on one Platform is an amazing feeling. Sure it takes a bit of effort but once you have it curated it's a beautiful experience.

PC
  • Best hardware
  • Input device of choice (I prefer KB and Mouse, but can use a controller if desired)
  • Ultrawide monitor support
  • Multi-screen support so I can have discord and friends streams up on one screen, as well as browser of choice on third screen.
  • Superior catalog of game, along with multiple storefronts (I use Steam and GamePass)
  • Escape From Tarkov
After going back to PC, I can't imagine playing on consoles again. I just find the experience much more robust.

Right now, my main platform is PC cuz i bought a new one recently so dosent make sense to play on weaker hardware. Not even sure if im buying any consoles next gen seeing that the main reason to pick a console was for the exclusives that could not be played anywhere else, with PC eventually keep getting those exclusives as well, it dosent give me many reason to go back to consoles. It also helps that you can buy games much cheaper, even if the price of entry for a new gaming PC is pretty high.

Also pleasent surprised by the Dualsense support on PC. Its my favorite controller and was not expecting the controller to work so well and even get supported with exclusive Dualsense feautures in some games. Right now im playing Kingdom Come 2, and the game has Adaptive triggers and Haptic Feedback support for Dualsense while playing wireless, and the adaptive trigger implementation in this game is pretty good, which is rare to see in most games. Game is super imersive and the adaptive triggers implementation just elevates the imersion even more.

For what is a mostly American forum this is a damning indictment

If you suggested things would get this bad back in the 360 days you'd have been burned for at the stake for heresy

If this is how bad it is in America, just think how bad it is in Europe and Asia

Funny, I was thinking something different. I was thinking that's a pretty close approximation to the sales ratio (3 to 1). It gives the lie to people who complain about GAF being a "Sony forum" - first because it's proportional to what the masses think, so it's not a GAF thing; and second because PS isn't the #1 choice; it's PC by a pretty good stretch. PS is a distant second.

I suppose it's a "damning indictment" in the sense that it reflects the sales numbers, but we already knew about those.

And damn I cant click on GIFs at the moment, guess I shitposted too many times with them over the months

50 shitposts a day is a lot. Maybe dial it back to 25.

Lol at the Xbox getting more votes than the Switch.

LMFAO even

Switch has never performed well in polls about your main console. It's a good second console but not a good first one (for most people).

If you want, justify your answer in the comments.
PC because you can play all PC only games, Xbox games, Playstation games and Switch 1 games as well as every other older console ever. It is the definitive enthusiast platform because it gives the player all the control to have it however they want it whenever they want it.

PC first.

-PlayStation used to be very cool.
-PlayStation is no longer cool.
-PlayStation sucks.
-DLSS4 is insane and you can override it into any game with nvidia profile inspector.

Because they don't have a ps5. Clearly
This is an enthusiast board and we're 5 years into the generation, I bet most here have a PS5 at this point.

But PS5 games are on PC now. And last gen and onward you started getting Xbox One/Series games on PC. Usually offering better visuals and performance compared to console. I think that has helped PC gaming grow a ton.

What's holding PC back right now is the cost.

Oooo, we're including history.

Atari 2600
Spectrum 48k
Amiga 500
PC (first was a 486, had one since 1995, still running a fairly good gaming PC)
PS1
XBox
XBox 360 / PS3 / DS / PSP / Wii
XBox One / PS4 Pro / Wii U / Vive
Xbox X / Switch / Meta Quest 3

I can say unequivocally my Xbox X gets the most play at the moment with Gamepass my go to. I think I'm done with Sony and the PS5 is the first console for a while I'm really not fussed about. I'm also not bothered about the Switch 2. My gaming daughter is mostly a PC player. The Wii U is still my family go to when we all get together. Nintendo Land still makes us all silly.

Playstation, but if the next Xbox has haptic feedback and steam library access alongside gamepass then I'm switching.

Alternatively, Steam machine with gamepass and a good controller.

The cost, the annoyances and time. Remember that it takes year or 3 for some games

Switch because I love shmups and rhythm games and due to the features switch has like the touch screen and the ability to play Tate mode without any extra messing it makes putting both on there ideal. Switch also gets a lot of arcade style stuff too, have had zero reason to pick up either a Xbox or ps5 this gen as they have nothing I want I can't already get on switch.

While it is true that PC gaming on a couch is not as smooth as a console, big picture mode on Steam makes it pretty easy. Especially compared to what it used to be like.

Right now I'd say Switch. But it shifts around a lot. I played loads of Xbox before selling the Series X. And before that it was Ps4.

Series X: controller (small hands), Xbox live, achievements, game pass.
I do have a Ps5Pro that I'm excited for first party exclusives at their highest quality.
Switch has gathered dust basically since Odyssey .
I have an Alienware laptop with a 2070 that was dope for Alex, but I never finished it.

Xbox
- best hardware (both controller and console)
- best looking hardware
- best games
- Game Pass
- Play Anywhere
- Microsoft Rewards

PC

Tailor your own experience depending on your money.

THe biggest library of games.

No such things as generations - everything is back compatible, either out of the game or from fan patches etc.

Can play almost any console game from xbox360/PS3 to the early days of gaming.

Playstation of course

it's synonymous with gaming here

And let's be honest: it's the target platform of every game right now...

It will be even better now that Xbox is dead forever

Its not as aesthetically pleasing without some tinkering which I cant be bothered with - but I play 4 player couch co-op/versus with my family all the time. Launch in to windows, have to enter my password with a wireless keyboard or through moonlight. Then hit home twice on the controller to bring up Steam big picture and pretty much done. You might get the odd pop-up that you need to use your keyboard to dismiss but its really just an aesthetic annoyance than something that interferes with actually choosing or playing your games.
Asymmetric VR - virtual desktop makes that a piece of piss also - its generally just launch and done.

Agree. I want nothing to do with a PC in my living room. Even the video I posted, which is fine if someone wants to go to that trouble, is just too much hassle for something that needs to be plug and play.

What happens when I sit down on my couch to play on my PC, having 30 minutes to an hour to play a game after the kids are in bed, and my game needs a 30gb update?
I don't know you but I wait 5 minutes for the download or I play something else while I wait the download. What happens when I lay down on my mattress to play a game on my console but the game has crap IQ, performance, controls, insanely long loading screens plus I can't play online because I didn't pay an extra??

The cost, the annoyances and time. Remember that it takes year or 3 for some games
PS5 got Forza 5, Gears of War, Indy, etc on day 1??

Was previously Xbox series x but I got married and has a young daughter. Traded in the series x and now it's the Switch 2. Not a bad piece of hardware in my opinion and perfect for families and get together with friends.

No need to get touchy.

I was explaining examples in which console is more convenient for couch play, and things like 1 button switch on and downloads in rest mode contribute to that.

IQ, performance and a controller aren't relevant to convenience.

Convenience is not relevant to get the best possible gaming experience.
