The point is, most people with half a brain are going to realize that a story on fried chicken featuring exclusively blacks is going to appear insensitive. They are going to realize this for the same reason that GAF immediately caught onto the humor in the video. I find it hard to believe that nobody- not the reporter, camera crew, producer, nor editor- realized what they were doing. A smart news station would have stuck around until they found a white person to interview so as to avoid the very humor that GAF finds in this thread. Which the local community and NAACP might not find so humorous.

That does not mean that it is absolutely and unquestionable due to racist reporting. But it's certainly a good possibility.

Oh shut the fuck up....so what if black people on did come in the time frame they were filing :o shock and awe man. As you can see one of the people were calling coporate, perhaps someone called the newstation as well to bitch

I am convinced that Church's is not getting meat from chickens, I have never seen chicken legs that big

They sew together a couple of wings and a pork chop.

You just can't stress enough how many amazing one liners are in this clip.

"Y'all out of chicken? Thats just wong."

"They should have had a stockpile..."

"They should have a tractor-trailer out back with extra chicken on ice."

"I was trying to feed my family tonight, can't get that bucket in now."

There's a Church's near my apartment that has never, ever had a single white person in it when I've driven past, and it's always packed.

You drove past and scanned each face in a packed store to ensure they were black and not white? You must have been driving slow.

Black people often enjoy fried chicken...
Yeah but who doesn't enjoy fried chicken?

I mean black people enjoy getting their fuck on too, but so does everyone else on the planet.

I would be more concerned about the people that don't like fried chicken then the ones that do.

Im' just wildly speculating here, but I could potentially see black people eating more fried chicken per capita than other demographics because of the geographic predominance of blacks in southern-rural America up until the early 20th century when more of them moved north and west. So it could actually be a southern cultural thing that has persisted.

Dave Chappelle's got you covered as well:

"I'll do it for free, chicken!"

We all know black people like chicken more because their sense of taste is more refined.

I'm deeply suspicious of any non-vegetarian who doesn't enjoy themselves some chicken.

Maybe its a US thing ?
I love fried chicken and im brown!:D

Why limit it to non-vegetarians? If you ever had fried chicken and you gave it up to eat lettuce and chick peas all day I think the government should follow you around and find out what you are up to.

The only excuse that is acceptable to me is ignorance.

I'm from the south, and you'd be hard pressed to find man, woman, or child that wouldn't drop what they were doing for the chance to eat fried chicken.

Mmmmmm, fried chicken.

There are actually historical reasons:

Wikipedia said:
However it was introduced to the American South, fried chicken became a common staple. Later, as Africans were brought to work on southern plantations, the slaves who became cooks incorporated seasonings and spices that were absent in traditional Scottish cuisine, enriching the flavor. Since most slaves were unable to raise expensive meats, but generally allowed to keep chickens, frying chicken on special occasions spread through the African American communities of the South. It endured the fall of slavery and gradually passed into common use as a general Southern dish. Since fried chicken could keep for several days, longer than other preparations, and traveled well in hot weather before refrigeration was commonplace, it gained further favor in the periods of American history when segregation closed off most restaurants to the black population. Fried chicken continues to be among this region's top choices for "Sunday dinner" among both blacks and whites. Holidays such as Independence Day and other gatherings often feature this dish.
Since the Civil War traditional slave foods like fried chicken, watermelon, and chitterlings, have suffered a strong association with African American stereotypes and blackface minstrelry. This was commercialized for the first half of the 20th century by restaurants like Sambo's and Coon Chicken Inn, which selected exaggerated blacks as mascots, implying quality by their association with the stereotype. While acknowledged positively as soul food in the modern age by many, the affinity that African American culture has for fried chicken has been considered a delicate, often pejorative issue; While still present, this perception has been fading for several decades with the ubiquitous nature of fried chicken dishes in the US and a gradual rejection of race-based stereotypes.

That said, I live in Virginia, we all love fried chicken.

I hear that. Growing up in Houston, there was always a KFC or Popeye's around the corner. Love Popeyes, so good...

I did not say that the media must be concerned that their stories are racially sensitive. I said if they had half a brain they would, though. You're delusional if you think that the overwhelming majority of Americans are not going to pick up on the stereotype reinforced by this story, and even more delusional if you think that a significant number are not going to be offended by it.

I’ve never been in a chicken fast food joint other than KFC.

So is it actually significantly better than KFC or is it just another shade of the same thing like McDonalds/Burger King?

For what it's worth, I think all this "black people love fried chicken" thing is more an observation of urban areas.

If there is a Church's or a Popeye's in the middle of the city, you can bet your ass that there will be little to no white people there.

I don't think it has anything to do with white people not liking white chicken, but more a fear of "not belonging" if they entered one.

For what it's worth, I'd feel uncomfortable walking into a Church's in a rough part of Philly. It may be silly, but that's how I feel.

I'm Asian. I love fried chicken. What's wrong with liking fried chicken? Why is it stereotyped as a black thing? Who knows. I have some Chicken Holiday in my fridge that I'm about to heat up for lunch. That said, if my local Chicken Holiday ran out of chicken? I think I'd just drive over to the Chinese place or Wendy's or something.

No. It's bland and the breading looks like stucco.

Popeyes is like a trillion times better than KFC

Can someone explain the stereotype involving watermelons. I didn't really learn of it until recently (and it didn't make sense to me since I'm black and have a strong hate toward watermelons.)

Sure the chickens grow up so fast nowadays that they can't even stand up for more than a few minutes, but the resulting meat mixed with the breading and spices is so juicy and tasty and... and all I need is a knife and a fork and indeed I would dig into that delicatessical decadence.
