Apple from New Zealand. I've been an apple connoisseur this year. Must have tried like 20 different apples. New Zealand has been coming out with tons of different crops of apples lately. My favorite New Zealand apple is the Envy. I don't have all the pictures with me of all the apples I've tried but here's two.

NZ's Eve (red apple)

NZ's Tentation (gold apple)

The most expensive apple I've tried was an Organic Honeycrisp which was like $3.49/each :lol

I think the NZ Envy is just as good but half the cost, like $1.39/each

Fake edit: Not my picture but here's the great Envy

Edit:
Bamelin, see my reply to you on the bottom of pg. 6

Do you mean going to the bathroom or gaining weight? I'm not worried about either.

I eat hot peppers and hot sauce all the time. Not worried about having a "colon blow."

I'm actually so healthy and fit that my personal trainer wants me to take-in more calories so I can gain mass. I'm not worried about the -2 lbs. I'll temporarily gain from eating 3 fried chicken tenders. I'll run that off today, running 4 miles in the 100 degree Texas heat.

Maybe if my objection was to lose weight then yes I'll be paying the price. I need to gain weight doe (gaining weight doesn't mean eat fast food, burgers, fries, pizza, Mexican food, chips, cookies, beer, soda, etc. )

So you said it's totally worth it, huh? What "healthy food" did you have with your meal?

*Grin* the cajun potatoes hehe

So basically nothing healthy although I did (and always do) skip the cola.

I didn't mean washroom or gaining weight. Just in general, there's no possible way these strips are healthy no matter what you eat with it ... I could smell the sugar before I even bit into it! lol

But like I said before still totally worth it. Guilty pleasures in moderation are fine as far as I'm concerned. For me Popeyes is definitely a guilty pleasure.

I had the tentation the other day. AMAZING. Way better than the jazz, gala, fuji..etc.
Today I will try the ENVY.

Gotcha. I think my fruit and veggie plate was a lot healthier compared to your Cajun potatoes :p

Well chicken is protein and since I'm trying to grow muscles I need lots and lots of protein. It's technically "good" for me in that aspect but then again it's cheap, fried chicken. Not like it's a grilled chicken breast which is so much healthier for you. A grilled chicken breast would be ideal for the fitness person while the fried chicken strips would be ideal for the pot head/average Joe. Edit: But yeah, I agree. It's not healthy for you.

Yeah, I don't think I've had Popeye's for like 2 or 3 years prior to yesterday. Matter of fact, around 09/2010! That's crazy... Sup Mr. Healthy :p

Agreed. NZ is really hitting it off with their apples. Weird though, Washington state is so much closure. At my grocery stores, a lot of these "designer apples" are from Washington state.

Good luck with the Envy! It's totally awesome haha

Just got my hands on these today. They were good but not great. I loved how light and flaky the breading was, but the flavor was just too subtle. I want to be punched in the face by my fried chicken; I don't want to have to go searching for the flavor. That being said, I'd definitely buy them again. I hope Popeye's keeps working on this formula.

so does this mythical apple actually taste like pink lemonade? stupid new zealand stop hogging all of the cool apples.

Behold the forum-famous Popeye's Waffle Chicken Tenders. I'm a healthy eater and a fitness person so this meal is a little odd for me. Especially on a Monday! Can't have no cheat meal on a Monday.

My dinner consists of
Popeye's Waffle Chicken Tenders (fuck the combo! Not getting fries or a biscuit.)
Fruit & Vegetable plate
Organic Cottage Cheese (whole fat, cream top)
Water to drink

Here's my healthy plate, left to right.
Red currants, organic carrots, organic blueberries, pink lemonade apple, organic yellow pear tomatoes, organic blackberries, organic green beans, organic pineapple, organic kale, and organic asparagus

Sweet Honey Maple Sauce

Trashing the french fries that came with the meal (gave my house mate the biscuit.)
*I'm so crazy to do this. French fries! :(

btw, I worked up to this Popeyes's meal the whole day. Had a healthy breakfast and lunch, and then exercised all while drinking on a gallon of water.

Update: I walked to Popeye's too

I think you just might survive this.
Check with a doctor though to be sure.

The only problem I have is the natural sugar content in the fruit :p

I'm surprised Fitness-GAF didn't come in and speak about the natural sugar in the fruit.
Natural sugar in fruit is on my mind a lot. Don't think I need to be concerned, I like my weight and body. Maybe if I was trying to lose weight I could cut out pineapple and apples or what ever. Anyways.. ha

Fitness-GAF and ultra-low-carb-GAF don't mix too often.

Ugh I just tried these. I was not impressed and now I feel terrible about myself for eating them. The dipping sauce was awful, tried it once and threw it away. At least I got red beans and rice and a decent biscuit.

Oh well, gave it a shot.

If you don't like them just get spicy strips and make a belgian waffle with real maple syrup at home. Should be better than the waffle tenders anyway. Ill try them sometime this week if my local Popeye's has them.

So happy that I thread about Popeye's waffle tenders has many posts about fruit and veg now. /sarcasm

You can stop now. This is a thread about fried chicken tenders with waffle batter...

That's actually a good idea. I would recommend it as what you get from Popeye's doesn't actually taste like wafles + chicken.

haha, well I'm such a health and fitness freak but I tried the chicken on the day of its release! I should get a +1 for that :p (did not even wait for my weekend cheat meal..)
I just had to have nutrients to go a long with the trash that I was putting in my body.

I just tried them and they were just okay. They weren't flavorless or anything, but the batter got too sweet for me after a while even without the sauce.

I'm sure my bias peaked through a bit though because nothing can top their normal strips.

Oh yeah, I have no idea why people are comparing this to tempura batter. It's nothing like it.

I originally used the descriptive words "extra thick, "extra crispy." but I recalled it and made it into tempura instead.
It's not really extra crispy, it's more light like a tempura style.

From Popeye's original/spicy chicken strips, what words would you use to describe the waffle tenders?

McDonald's is considered tempura battered (though this is more authentic). This was more similar to Chick-fil-a.

Gotcha. I don't eat McDonalds/Chick-fil-a so I wouldn't know. The picture you linked does look tempura battered though. Hmm miss the days of fast food (although, I was really fat lol )

There's this amazing place I go to occasionally on late nights out near work who do duck and waffle. Essentially a posh version of chicken and waffle. It's godly.

Would love a more portable version, duck waffle tenders for me please.

What you posted looks like real food. the other one, well I'd be surprised if that was even chicken.

Don't eat Popeyes much, only one around where I live is in a sketchy part of town......that said, I tried these today.

Verdict: Pretty damn tasty. It made me feel like shit for a good 2 hours after getting that $5.99 combo. Their fries are delicious. Will get again if I feel like having a fat attack.

Niraj

I shot people I like more for less.
Just had it tonight. They were fucking glorious. I didn't care for the sauce much, but the strips were perfectly crisp and delicious. I feel enlightened.

I was going to get these today but I just got the regular chicken strips with cajun fries instead.

It was good as always. The cashier had a Hatsune Miku pin on her shirt.

I'm eating these right now. The tenders have a small hint of Waffle batter in the taste, nothing else. On their own they are good but also uninteresting. With the sauce though they are amazing.

The biscuit in the sauce is good too unsurprisingly.

They were great, extremely crispy too, much more so than their normal tenders. The sauce is real sweet but a small dab on the tender, perfection.

God these sound amazing. Haven't had Popeye's in forever, too.

There's one about 70 miles from here, too far for a quick venture over at this point. Maybe my next time through.

Had this over the weekend, it was REALLY good. The Maple honey can be almost too sweet but It gets the job done. I really liked the chicken on its own

i broke down and tried it yesterday. it was pretty good, especially with the maple sauce ... but i don't have any desire to eat it again. i'd rather just go with plain popeyes tenders next time i'm looking to wreck my diet
