Chicken was good.

Sauce was too sweet.

You fools not subbing godly red beans and rice for fries.

I dont like their beans and rice. They don't taste right. I normally get the mashed potatoes, but i had mashed potatoes for lunch. The fries are ok.

I find that the tenders are plenty good on their own. The sauce really isn't needed. im using some maple syrup instead.

Meh, they were alright. This is the second Popeyes location I've ever been to, and it still seems like incredibly mediocre chicken to me, so maybe I got unlucky twice? The chicken itself was utterly flavorless, and the waffle batter had a similar complete lack of taste, so the sauce was the only thing it had going for it. The sauce was pretty good, and I don't regret the meal, but I don't think I'll be getting any more

I liked them. Pro-tip: Apply a generous amount of hot sauce early and let it meld with the waffle batter.

My wife and I already had plans to go to Popeye's for dinner tonight, since it's very close to an appointment we have this evening and it's the only Popeye's in the tri-county area.

One of my favorite things about Popeye's chicken strips is that they taste great even without any kind of sauce (especially compared to BK's new(ish) chicken strips that are virtually tasteless). Do these new waffle batter strips taste good without sauce as well?

Yes definately, if you like sweetness in your food. The batter is sweet. I actually liked the taste better without the maple sauce that came with it. Still prefer the regular spicy fingers more but this was definately a nice change.

just finished a 3 piece dinner. it was pretty good, but the portion was small. not sure if that's just a Canadian thing. liked the honey maple dipping sowse, but they taste great without too.

can't see myself having it again just because the portion is totally snack sized, but it was worth trying once.

So I went to Popeyes on my lunch break today....they didn't fucking have it yet. They said sometime next months. I was pretty bummed out :(

It tastes like tempura chicken strips. Its so light and flakey. I got some normal chikky nuggs to compare and I don't ever want to eat them again. The waffle strips is the only way to go.

To a Canadian, American sized "snack" portions are a full sized meal. Whenever I go down south I marvel at the "regular" portion sizes *grin*

Behold the forum-famous Popeye's Waffle Chicken Tenders. I'm a healthy eater and a fitness person so this meal is a little odd for me. Especially on a Monday! Can't have no cheat meal on a Monday.

My dinner consists of
Popeye's Waffle Chicken Tenders (fuck the combo! Not getting fries or a biscuit.)
Fruit & Vegetable plate
Organic Cottage Cheese (whole fat, cream top)
Water to drink

Here's my healthy plate, left to right.
Red currants, organic carrots, organic blueberries, pink lemonade apple, organic yellow pear tomatoes, organic blackberries, organic green beans, organic pineapple, organic kale, and organic asparagus

Trashing the french fries that came with the meal (gave my house mate the biscuit.)
*I'm so crazy to do this. French fries! :(

btw, I worked up to this Popeyes's meal the whole day. Had a healthy breakfast and lunch, and then exercised all while drinking on a gallon of water.

Update: I walked to Popeye's too

I'll meet you at the one on San Mateo. Time to get my Freeman on!

Oh hey, I hit up the Redwood City one.

Anyway... delicious. Although having never had chicken and waffles before, if someone hadn't told me that was waffle batter they were fried in I never would have guessed that's what it was supposed to be.

As a diabetic, sounds like I should enjoy these already hooked up to an insulin drip in the ER.

I'm still going to get some for dinner. Who needs a leg?

Take the insulin to match your carbs, eat whatever you want.

You fools not subbing godly red beans and rice for fries.

Popeyes expert right here.

didn't really like these, on the ones i had the coating was like panko bread crumbs with pankcake syrup flavor, definitely not as good as the regular coating

wow

What a let down.

They tastes like chicken strips with a light and flakey batter. Like tempura batter almost.

Nothing to see here folks. If you want the real shit (I've never had it..) go with that instead

What the hell, people describing these as tasting good. They didn't taste bad, they didn't taste of anything. Did the Popeyes I went to just suck?

Did the same thing. Went to the gym right afterward and paid the toll.

Good job.

I don't feel fat now that I ate Popeye's fried chicken either. It was only 3 pieces of strips though, not like I ate a combo and drank beer. I considered it my "grilled chicken breast protein" :lol

lol,

That healthy food isn't going to make up for the price you'll pay for those waffle chicken fingers.

Still TOTALLY WORTH IT

Just had it. It was delicious! I just wish it came with five tenders instead of three.

The fried chicken and waffles I ate two days ago was better, though. :p

Such disappoint.
I ate 2 and don't feel compelled to finish. F-
With the sauce it reminded me of the Taco Bell caramel apple empanada and not in a good way.

fuack all

i atleast expected a review or an opinion or something. Congrats on including pink lemonade apple in there somehow? And the pictures?

I think these will be a love it or hate it type thing. Anyone that has a super sweet tooth will love it. The breading is basically made of sugar.

Like I said earlier I prefer the spicy fingers. But as I DO have a very sweet tooth I could see myself switching things up for waffle fingers when I feel like something sweet. I think a spicy version of the waffle fingers would be the ultimate combination.

I tried this tonight. I couldn't smell a difference, but they were fresh and flaky. The sauce was fantastic. I'd say these are second to Raising Cane's. Just because RC's fresh chicken strips are delicious.

I wouldn't mind eating them again, but I prefer grilled chicken wings over tenders. I couldn't fine the nutrition facts for these either. If they are anything like RC, then I know for sure they aren't too healthy for you.

Raising Cane's is fantastic, but not on the healthy side either.

I had those when travelling in the United States ... down in Houston. My wife and I make it a point to hit up fast food joints we don't see up here in Canada. Raising Cane's was amazing.

Chick-fil-A was also amazing. Canada NEEDS these chains. Along with White Castle and a few others. Thank god we have Popeyes though.

I do honey fried chicken wings that will make you bite your own fingers, but this was just weird.

These chicken waffle tenders did not let me down. Since it was a new item the tenders were cooked fresh. They were very hot when got them. The tenders were cooked with perfection. Light, fluffy and golden. I had to let them cool for a few minutes before I bit into the small taste of heaven. Even before I opened the sauce these tenders tasted perfect. Once the sauce was open I was taken to a whole other level. I didn't think the sauce was too sweet seemed perfect to me.

This popeyes I go to always has great food the manager and workers there must care about quality which shows.

Overall I give the waffle chicken tenders a 5/5. Would eat again.

Do you mean going to the bathroom or gaining weight? I'm not worried about either.

I eat hot peppers and hot sauce all the time. Not worried about having a "colon blow."

I'm actually so healthy and fit that my personal trainer wants me to take-in more calories so I can gain mass. I'm not worried about the -2 lbs. I'll temporarily gain from eating 3 fried chicken tenders. I'll run that off today, running 4 miles in the 100 degree Texas heat.

Maybe if my objection was to lose weight then yes I'll be paying the price. I need to gain weight doe (gaining weight doesn't mean eat fast food, burgers, fries, pizza, Mexican food, chips, cookies, beer, soda, etc. )

So you said it's totally worth it, huh? What "healthy food" did you have with your meal?
