SCREAMING! Ratings were such a flop this season. Meanwhile The Voice keeps improving. But I thought Britney would bring in more people? Funny that Nicole Scherzinger was a bigger attraction.
Pon de Replay was just certified 2x platinum, which is crazy because it was right at the beginning of the digital era. Gold Digger is the only bigger selling single from 2005. Even We Belong Together is only 1x Platinum and that was the #1 single of the decade.

Simon's mistake was assuming that simply having a big name on the panel was enough. It doesn't matter how much Brit has sold or done before if she's a drag on the actual panel segments.

Um it's a reality singing competition, the "story arcs" are not going to be organic no matter what.

I'm on my second play through now. Everything's definitely sounding better. I went in with stupid low expectations, and only the last 3 songs caught my attention. Now that I'm actively listening to it, it sounds much better.

That's not true at all.
All you have to do is look at early seasons of American Idol and The Voice (the Tony Lucca-Xtina-Adam Levine drama from last season?) to see organic story arcs play out.
X Factor just had wayyyy too many obviously orchestrated "character" moments that were a waste of time because they weren't at all interesting and it took no effort to see right through them.

I fully expect Demi back though. I think she is at least capable of improving...plus she is fun....and she and Simon like one another.
