I don't go to pubs or clubs anymore, so no. It occasionally crops up, though - getting asked if I'm eighteen when buying a game, for example. Or when I started working at my current workplace, I was only meant to be there for a week to fill in for someone, people kept assuming I was there for work experience and that I was still in secondary school. That I did correct, but people who assume I'm close to the age of eighteen, I generally don't, unless they're people I work with on a daily basis (and that's only five people in a multinational company). I get stared at often, because people wonder why a teenager is walking around with an ID badge. I'm so used to it now that I barely notice it any more.

The reason is partly genetics - my mother and sisters look young for their age, and partly health issues. When I was three, my parents noticed that my sister, a year younger than me, was beginning to outgrow me. I was put on growth hormone injections for the next twenty years, while throughout they performed all kinds of tests to see what was wrong - I couldn't tell you how many CAT scans I had. It wasn't until I turned sixteen that they first got an MRI machine and found the cause - a "fatty substance" lodged between my pituitary gland and my brain. There was some talk of risky surgery to clear it, but the specialist decided not to as there was little chance the gland would develop properly if the substance was removed.

The pituitary gland controls all the other glands in your body, so that means I have to take medicine to compensate. Some good things did come out of it - I never got acne as a teen, and I never have to shave, either. You can imagine it's still something of a bitch, though.

That's an interesting story. Thanks for sharing, I find this stuff fascinating.
