I'm sooo glad I was too old to watch this shit when it came out. My next-door neighbour did like it though.
You are never too old to watch such a massive walking disaster as Power Rangers! I love them to this day.

I never saw the ending to Space. Only thing I know is that Zordon died. Anyone wanna give me summary on the episode?

They used to film the fight scenes at the park near Raging Waters.

Man that reminds me: when I went to visit my friend in CA in middle school, we spent ALL WEEK getting hyped up for a trip to Raging Waters, and then when we finally got there it was two boring water slides and an arcade with a broken Galaxian machine. NOT AMUSED.

lol @ thread..

Ya know something I see Superman and think that glasses as a disguise that would never work...then I read something like this and think prehaps it would work.

Wtf was that Superhuman Samurai show based on? That was the worst thing EVAR.
Haha, Matthew Lawrence sucked. Remember the other guy on that show, he was the nerd of the group, and to morph he would always say something lame like 'potato salad' or 'smelly shoes'.

Also, the villian of the show was the kid in school that everyone picked on.

The earlier shows used alot of Japanese footage, the later episodes were choreographed by Alpha Stunts. And the Asian black Ranger is the dub actor for Vash in Trigun.

Basically the Red in space ranger shattered Zordon's tube which in turn released his energy as a wave(think of the Beast Wars Transwarp wave) that traveled across the galaxy and turned evil into dust(exception of Rita and Zedd).

In japan (when in the suit and mask, anyway) a guy is usually always the Pink Ranger.

you know, as a kid I never noticed that stuff with the action shots of power rangers actually being from a japanese show. What I did notice what that they definitely played some stuff backwards to have the guys slide up the ladders and stuff.

Well Space was setup to be a galactic battle with all the planets and villians and heroes of previous PR series combining for one overall story, similar to how something like Justice League Unlimited is setup. The villians, including Rita & Zedd, Mondo & Machina, Divatox, Astronima, and practically every sub-villian known to the series, were ruled over by Dark Spector. (He was also the main villian in the Turbo movie, and was set free by Divatox). Zordon is captured after an invasion of his home planet, the Turbo powers as well as the Power Chamber are destroyed, and 4 of the 5 earth rangers head for space in order to rescue Zordon, meet Andross, and get new powers and eventually a 6th Silver ranger.

SO ANYWAY

The last two episodes come shortly after the final battle with the Pyscho Rangers where all five of them are defeated. (Not destroyed however, they are merely uploaded to data cards, and eventually released again by Trikina in Lost Galaxy). Dark Spector rallies all of his forces to begin invasions on all planetary systems that would pose a threat to his rule. Rita and Zedd are ordered to destroy the Gold Ranger on Triforia, Mondo and Machina attack the forces of KO35 while Kogs are dispatched to confront the Phantom Ranger, Divatox is sent to the aqua world of the Alien Rangers in order to defeat them, and Astronima personally oversees the largest invasion of Earth, which the Space Rangers are forced to attempt to defend.

So long story short, the rangers end up getting beaten badly, almost all of the other planetary systems are on the verge of falling to the invaders, and Zordon is still captured on Astronima's ship. Andross (red) sneaks on to Astronima's ship (Astronima is actually Karone, his sister, who later becomes the Pink Ranger in Lost Galaxy) and accidentally ends up killing her when she attacks him. Zordon explains to him that the only way to bring an end to all the destruction is by shattering his energy tube, so that his 'good' energy can engulf the forces of evil...or something. Andross is reluctant to do it, but then realizes that there is no other way with the 5 other Space Rangers (who had just revealed their true identities to the people of Earth before engaging in battle) about to be defeated and all the rest of their allies in the same situation. He shatters Zordon's energy tube with his Spyro Saber, and a wave of energy spreads from Astronima's ship and travels to all the planetary systems. Every villian that wasn't previously human is destroyed, Rita and Zedd and Divatox are all restored to their original human forms. Astronima is resurrected as Karone, and the galaxy is saved after being purged of every single villian the Power Rangers had ever faced in the past.

So really there was no reason to start another series. Although Lost Galaxy did stem off into new territories, there were no loose ends left to tie up.

Wow... they actually tried to tie everything together? Gee... now I wish I didn't stop watching after the thrid season!

You sure about that? I remember reading though a big sentai site and almost invariably the Pink ones were played by chicks, wore skirts, and a lot of them used gynmastic equipment or bows to fight

Cerina Vincent (Maya, Yellow, Lost Galaxy) recently started doing topless:

Yeah, but I didn't watch it after "Cat" stopped being the pink Ranger, so it's just not the same for me. That's just some other naked chick. Not the pink Ranger naked. :)

I knew about the Power Rangers using different Japanese series for the footage, but I always thought they kept changing it up to be annoying, I mean after a while it just got boring.

And of course, the whole blue Ranger in Turbo who was like a 5 year old kid who grew 2 feet when he morphed.

Well then, just Image Google 'Amy Jo Johnson' and a nude pops up on the first search page.

Yeah, which is why I always thought having the yellow ranger as a girl in the states was dumb; the pink one made sense since the costume always had a skirt.

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
Starring in a Power Ranger series has never exactly been the gateway to a breakthrough career. Their nudity was mere inevitability.

After Tritroid's explanation begins most of the break off series for PR (Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm, and Dino Thunder). Each series tends to overlap a little bit with real exception (as far I as know) being Dino Thunder which is after Ninja Storm. They might've changed this with a crossover episode (which became commonplace after Lost Galaxy to connect each of the other series) but I haven't been following mainly because I've been out of the loop and a few things have turned me off to Dino Thunder. Like previously mentioned, they brought back Tommy (Jason David Frank) as the Black Ranger. In like the 3rd or something episode, they had an episode called "Legacy of Power" (IIRC) which basically revealed the past of Tommy to the current Dino Thunder rangers and showed a recap of all the previous PR series. The 10 year aniversary episode called "Forever Red" wasn't bad either but it sucked because they left Rocky out (the 2nd Red Ranger, although apparently he couldn't be found for it).

Yes, Thuy Trang died in 2001. A tribute was done to her in I believe either the Time Trap episode or the Cross over episode of Time Force (I remember barely waking up to see the tribute). She died because of no seatbelt. Around that time, David Yost had suffered from a bout of cancer (I rememebr reading about it but many of the sites that had the info and pictures are down now).

Here's a picture of Yost at Thuy's funeral (apparently). He was recovering at the time.

You're right whoever said Jonny Yong Bosch (Not sure on the Jonny spelling ;p) is Vash. He's been doing voice overs lately in the anime industry. Patricia Ja Lee who played the Pink Ranger in Turbo actually did quite a few Voice-Acting bits before her stint on Power Rangers (Afura Mann in El-hazard is probably her most well known. She went as P.J. Lee in the credits there IIRC). Quite a few Rangers are voice-actors before or acter there stint heh.

That's a fairly current image of JYB. Still looks the same.

If anyone's interested here's a site with pictures of many of the people that starred in PR.

There wasn't a Wildforce/Ninja Storm teamup because of the shift from Fox -> Disney also the fact that union contracts are different from here and New Zeland(Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder are now filmed in New Zealand and no longer in the US). However, there might be a Dino Thunder/Ninja storm teamup this year if all goes well. That Dino Thunder ep where they basically mock Abaranger just didn't sit easy with me >_<

Shouta, Rocky wasn't needed for the Forever Red reunion. What would Rocky suit up as since Jason returned as the original Red Ranger? Plus he was a hack... :p

if they're using footage from other shows... well, could that be only for the zords part? because i remember plenty of times where the rangers were helmetless

I always loved that explosion, it looked so hardcore.

Anyway, out of all the series (American):

Zeo > Space > Mighty Morphin' > Lost Galaxy > Turbo > Wild Force > Time Force > Dino Thunder (thus far anyway) > Ninja Storm > Lightspeed Rescue.

Zeo was the greatest simply because Jason returned as the Gold Ranger ^-^. They also had the coolest zords during this period imo, along with the Zord hangar bay.

Space is a really close second in my book though because it took on such a dark approach compared to other branches of the series. The introduction of the Pyscho Rangers was awesome in that it was the first time the Rangers were actually fighting a foe that managed to literally kick their asses every time. And of course Space had the best series ending out of all. They could have easily ended the entire Power Rangers show in the states with this ending, what with the death of Zordon and the death/rebirth of every major enemy up to that period.

Nah, Mighty Morphin' > In Space >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Zeo > That other crap I never watched >(to the nth degree) Turbo

Mighty Morphin' had the best zords (original Dino Zords, the Thunder Zords, the Ninja Zords, Titanus, Dragon Zord, White Tiger). In Space tied up everything nicely (I only saw the final eps which I thought were excellent, as a fan of the series as I'd been for so long- even Bulk and Skull finally found out who the rangers were). Zeo was alright, but Amy Jo Johnson, David Yost, and other originals left which really sucked. Original Zeo MegaZord wasn't so bad, but it was a cheap ripoff of the Thunder MegaZord.

I only saw the first ep of Ninja Storm- what a freakin' ripoff of TMNT. Still better than the utter garbage that was Turbo. Even in 1996 or whenever the show was on, I wanted to stab that kid in the face over and over.

Funny to hear that Tommy is back for the new series. And they're tying the new Dino series in with the original MMPR series? How the hell would they do that? Ninja Storm was a new beginning, I thought.

He was both.

And yeah, Dragonzord >>>>> White Tiger. White Tiger was still cool though.

Watching that Dino thing Legacy of Power clip show right now. Brings back memories. I actually remember the WTF feeling of when they replaced the ENTIRE cast (including Tommy and EXCLUDING JUSTIN), and that joyous feeling when they left that stupid fucking kid on the ground as they went off into space.

And I completely forgot that there was a female Zordon instead of Zordon in Turbo. Damn that was crap.

And In Space... how they changed Alpha's voice. Shoulda left it dead.

Tommy was red ranger (for a few episodes) but mainly Green (evil tommy pwned!) and white (which was still awesome!)
